Topic: How It Began

The Black Hand was a rebellion of "Non-Benders" that were tired of feeling inferior to the people with bending abilities and wanted to eradicate the benders for pure jealous reasons. The only way they were able to get the upper hand on the Benders was the fact that is was a surprise to the Nations.

There were three different wars involving the Black Hand and after the 'Third War' they were almost extinct. What was left of the organization went into hiding and haven't been seen or heard of for 58 years.

During the 'Third War' the Avatar went missing and no one has seen him for 60 years. There are whispers that he is still around but most think that is just to keep hope alive. The Elders are dying out and the history of the Avatar is fading. Some people like the Monks of the Air Temple try and keep the spiritual world alive but without the Avatar 'link' hope wanes.

This is How It Began,

Ba Sing Se is by far the largest city in the world, really it's more of a small country than a city. Ba Sing Se means "Impenetrable City"; the city is so named for its world-famous walls. It was the safest place for war refugees during the wars because of the the Black Hands failure to penetrate its walls.

The Earth King learned a lesson from the Wars, keep a strong army always. The Water Tribes lessened there armies size and training during the years of peace before the Wars. They were the first to start to fall to the Black Hand. The Earth Kingdom has sent a battalion of troops to investigate a claim on Kyoshi Island.

Ziro disembarked the ship with his fellow members of his platoon. They marched in formation to the town of Kyoshi. They were greeted by two guys, one wearing elaborate blue robes and another behind him wearing commoners clothing. "You are finally here!" he seemed to shout looking over the platoon. "We have been defencless since our 'King' took the Kyoshi Warriors from us!" he was about to start to vent and ramble...

The Captain raised a hand to the man signifying for him to shutup. "Calm down and tell me what happened here?" the Captain looked past the older man and saw the smoldering rubble and buildings that were burnt down.

"We were attacked in the middle of the night, we didn't see it coming and by the time the militia formed up the fight was over" he put a hand over his face. "They took all of our children" he collapsed to his knees the other man helping him up, comforting him, as they began to walk back into town.

The Captain turned to the platoon, "We need to figure out who took the children and where they were taken. Now I want ten of you guys to survey the island. Keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary." The Platoon split and ten of the troops walked back up the hill and into the woods.

Ziro stood with the rest of the guys and waited for orders.

"Ziro, take two guys and question the people around town." with that Ziro and two guys stepped out of formation and made there way into town. He looked over everyone as they walked down the main street. He was going to start at the one place gossip originated, the Tea Shop.

A small breeze picking up, and flapping the folds of his cloak. It was a Dusty brown, frayed along the bottom, and dirty from constant use. He was passing through the neighboring woods, when the smoke had caught his attention. Not to mention his luck of avoiding some figure, early this morning. It wouldn't be long now, he was coming to the foliage's edge.

His eyes, caught the movement of troops, this being easy to detect as their foot fall's were in unison, lines straight and formed up. They were proper almost too proper were they looking for intruders, or were the being stationed her to protect this village since it fabled Kyoshi Warriors, were called away to better suit the Earth Kingdoms needs. Either way his tracks moved from casual stride into that of a woodlands stalker. Carefully positioned to make as little sound as possible, while keeping the pace.

So far it had worked, the first of the Soldiers stomped on by, and he made his way to the border between village and wilds. Pressing himself, to the back side of a thick old oak, he peeked around the trunk. Hoping, to be able to watch and possibly hear what there was to be said. After all their Commander seemed to have that voice that carried.

The Captain continued giving out orders, "The rest of you, look around town for anything that seems out of place. Check out those buildings. I hope this doesn't involve the Fire Nation" the guys moved towards the town. The Captain made his way back to the boat giving some orders to the boat Captain and turning to head into town.

Ziro and his two guys stepped into the Tea Shop. "A table for three please" he told the lady at the door and she led them to a table. They all set and looked around, "Keep an eye out" the lady returned with there tea. "Can I ask you a question?" he leaned in towards the lady. "Sure hun" she responded looking down at him. "We are here to investigate the missing children, you hear a lot of things here, got anything to tell us?" he watched her as she fiddled her fingers.

"If you have something to say you better tell us!" he sounded more firm this time. "I don't have anything to say, I'm sorry I have lots of work to do" she scurried to the back room where the tea was made.

Ziro looked to his guys and raised an eyebrow.

Waiting until the Captain was busy with his back turned barking out orders towards the other units of his platoon(s). When that moment had arrived he carefully positioned himself to slide right on in between patrols that were moving about searching. His hood was up, plus he had his bow and arrows hidden away as to not arouse suspicion as he traveled through town, villages, and even some cities. Passing through a pair of building was easy enough. A hand reached forward, and one to his hood.

Pushing past the hanging blanket, it was a replacement for the door, as it was easily noted the door had been destroyed, or at least off the hinges. "One" he spoke when prompted by the hostess. Bei, Had never believed in trying to hide oneself purposely, it was easier to just float in the crowd. Though there were no outside markers to distinguish him as a Firebender, the was that ever present gleam of fire just beyond his eyes.

Taking his seat he wasn't to far from the soldier, least not as far as he would rather believe. "What are you having?" The woman who had been questioned rather casually before he had entered asked.

"I'll have a Jasmin tea if you have that' Hot preferably." Asked without thought.

Ziro watched the man walk in with his hood covered, he wasn't suspicious just being cautious of everyone. He sipped his drink trying to zero in on some conversations around the shop.

An older man sat not to far from Ziro, Ziro leaned in to get a better listen. "I found a few pairs of foot prints in my garden this morning..." the conversation was abruptly ended as Ziro fell from his chair onto the floor. He shot to his feet looking around and walking out of the building the two other soldiers following after.

It wouldn't take too long for the woman to bring him back his tea, He'd been studying most of the patrons of the small tea house. They were a simple people from what he could assess on his eyes only. His attention was drawn to the one leaning, father and father until. He fell, and Bei was drinking from the cup. A sharp inhale sent the Tea shooting into his lungs, which only turned his minuscule chuckle into a cough. Now that was comedy, a fist drawn as he was beating on his chest to clear his lungs of the hot tea.

The soldier was quick to get up and leave, Bei would enjoy his tea for the time being. There was no point in drawing attention by following them to figure out what was going on. So, as he coughed a bit more and shaking his head with a smile, and thoughts of the simple humor of falling out of ones chair plaguing him. He took another sip.

Ziro made his way to the Captain, "I over heard a man talking about mysterious footprints running through his gardens. Should we check it out?" Ziro stood at attention as the Captain stroke his long beard.

"If you think it might have something to do with the kidnappings, of course." the Captain shook his head as he watched the soldiers analyzing the burnt buildings fumble with some rubble. "No, No, No! You gotta be gentle!" he shouted and walked towards the guys.

"Lets go back and get that Old Man" Ziro and the guys made there way back to the tea shop. He gave the Old Man a stare and signaled for him to follow. The man stood and followed Ziro out of the tea shop.

Bei

Well, now that was beyond strange. A quirk of his eyebrow. Placing a few pieces of coin on the table, it was just enough for the Tea itself. Walking out after the Old man, and looking around. The escort and him were gone.

So he decided it was time to wander around and look at what had happened.

The made there way to the farm/ gardens. "Show us these footprints!" Ziro ordered and looked up and down the Old Man. The Old Man was shaking in fear. He refused. "Find them." Ziro ordered his men who then started off to find the footprints.

"What has struck you silent old man!?" Ziro asked looking the Old Man in the eyes. Ziro could see the Captain stomping his way towards the two. "Captain." Ziro formed a fist and hit his chest saluting the Captain.

"What does this man know?" the Captain sounded really frustrated. "He found unknown footprints in his garden and something has him biting his tongue..." Ziro looked at the Old Man who was white as a ghost.

"Open your mouth or face the consequences!" The Captain shouted, spit flying from his mouth towards the Old Man. The Old Man didn't speak. The Captain pushed his hand towards the ground and rotated his hand the ground under the Old Man forming into quick sand and sucking the Old Man halfway down. "Speak!" he ordered looking down at him.

Ziro's eyes widened, "Sir..." the Captain gave him a death stare and Ziro closed his mouth. What the Captain was doing to a Earth Nation Citizen was outrageous!

The Old Man finally spoke, "Some cloaked men came to my house last night, threatened me and my wife. I had to help him!" the Captain looked furious. "How did you help them!?" the Old Man looked down in shame, "I told them where they could find the keys to all the town homes."

"You selfish bastard!" The Captain thrusted his hand out forward and with that the guy was pulled towards his house as if he was being pulled through water. He hit the wall with a thud, Ziro looked at the Captain astonished.

Having made his way towards the commotion, passer-by's had simply turned their head and looked away. Seemingly they didn't want trouble. Bei however saw the old man slam into the wall of his own home. A scowl formed on his face, now that was unfair. Assaulting an old man, For nothing. yes Bei was far enough to view, but not close enough to hear.

Taking a step closer towards the soldiers, and the commander. He was not trying to be stealthy or anything he was blatantly walking towards then to confront on their actions. "Leave the man be!" Shouting out...it was a little unnerving as those who had simply turned a blind eye before, had turned to look directly at the young traveler. And an unfamiliar face at that.

The small groups that dotted the area, were chattering amongst themselves. Waiting to see what either the Soldiers would do, or this stranger with no reason to step in.

The Captain turned to the man "Who do you think you are?" he stepped forward planting his foot firmly towards the man. Ziro looked around at the crowds forming, "Sir......." the Captain raised a hand silencing Ziro. "Let this traveler say what he wants too!" the Captain stood with a grin. The two soldiers returned and stood next to Ziro watching.

Crossing his arms before his chest. "I said leave him be. What did he do to you, beside what I can only assume is tell you something you may have not liked, or spoke dishonorably to you and your band of vagabonds."Placing emphasis on the last bit as his eye caught a glimpse of the soldier, who had brought the man in the first place. That was obvious a stab at the fact he had been present when the man was forced, not physically but it still seemed like he was forced to Bei. "But to use bending against one who cannot, is simply the lowly act of a bully, and possibly a reflection of true cowardice." Bei had a way of being both brutally honest of his opinions, and overly confident at the same time. He had seen only a solitary thing their commander may have under his arsenal. On the other hand, Bei had just begun training himself in the art, his ancestor used.

Now the small populace that surrounded them were dead silent. What the young man had said was blatantly an insult. Whether he himself knew it or not, did not erase the fact it was.

"I don't have to explain myself to a low life piece of trash like you. What I do is for the best of the Earth Nation and its citizens." The Capitan turned to his soldiers, "Arrest that man, he is a traitor to this village and a traitor to the Earth Nation!" the two extra soldiers made there way to the old man lifting him from inside the ground. Rock from the ground flew up and wrapped around his wrist locking them together. The Capitan turned back to the traveler, "Talking to a Capitan of the Earth Army like that, who do you think you are?" as he spoke he moved towards the man his feet hitting the ground firmly with each step.

Insults people with such ire, he as baffoon that needs to be put in his place. Doubtful I can do that, but at least he'll learn maybe a bit of humility if i bruise his honor hard enough. Thought to himself as he watched the Captain begin his approach.

Great this wasn't going to end well. Simply shaking his head. "A better man then you." Put so simply it was just as blatant an insult. But that was his moral standing, Never use bending against those who can not properly defend it. Maybe the advantage of the Captain, not know Bei was a bender as well might give him an advantage. But even then, The man did obviously have the formal training Bei lacked. So Bei simply started breathing in calmly, and deeply.

There was maybe no more then ten paces, between Himself and the Captain. The rest of the villagers gave the Captain a wide area to do what may happen.

"I do not have time for this. We have to help this village and find these kids." the Capitan beckoned some other soldiers over. "Arrest this man" he pointed to the traveler. The soldiers looked at the Capitan, "What grounds sir?" the Capitan stared them down. They came up behind the traveler reaching out for his arms...

Bei

His heart started beating faster, and his face flushed with outright anger. Stepping forward, and pointing at the Captain with his left hand. "You have no right sir!" Stated bluntly. "What did I do, other then speak what everyone was too fearful to say." As he slung his arm back to point at the people. That was meant to be inside his head, but it slipped past his lips as he was a bit hot headed at that moment. He honestly had no idea if they were thinking the same thing as him, but either way even if one were to become accustomed to the way the old man was treated so openly, it would still stir some emotions.

The two soldiers at his back were, were still getting closer. Bei hadn't notice them even speak as he shouted.

"I wonder if they would be so caring for this old man..." he pointed at the Old Man "...if they knew he was the reason all the children are missing in this village!" He looked to the loud mouth standing before him. "I am the authority of the Earth Nation and I have every right to arrest this man and even arrest you!" with that the soldiers caught Bei off guard stomping the ground earth shooting towards his wrist to lock them in place as make shift handcuffs.

Bei

Now, confused, why would the old man betray the trust of his own village. Bei had stood up for him, what did that say about him.

The villagers were shocked to hear that, and their eyes turned on Bei. It was that look, of disgust. And Bei had a feeling as to why, they probably thought Bei was part of the scheme. and that when one spoke out. "Captain, that man isn't from here. Don't take any scorn on use. We are forever loyal to the Earth Kingdom. " Yes he just pointed out Bei was not from here, as if it wasn't obvious enough.

There wasn't mush he could do at this point his hand were tied, he couldn't use his bow, and his firebending was lacking. Not to mention this was the Earth Kingdom. Most of the soldier were possibly master at bending Earth anyway, so he was beyond outnumbered. All he could do, was lower his hand to rest before his waist, and await his punishment.

The ground beneath Bei turned soft and Bei's legs were pulled into the ground it hardened just above his knees. The Capitan stepped up to Bei planting his feet and looking down at him. "Where are you from?" he retracted his hand "And don't lie to me boy..."

The Old Man was escorted off to the docks the town scowling at him as he took the walk of shame down the main road.

Ziro walked behind the Capitan and stared at Bei. He better tell the truth, he won't like the consequences... Ziro waited to see how the Capitan was going to handle this situation. Ziro had not liked how he handled the Old Man just as much as this man but Ziro knew his place....

The Captain asked a question, and Bei was almost wary to respond in full honesty. Looking about, he'd better tell them something.

"The wood." Motioning his head towards them. "And beyond that, the main land, even further still a city or two." The man had don nothing to require Bei's utmost truth. He asked a question about where he was from. and Bei had answered. Consequence be damned.

"Capitan!" Ziro stepped in, "Is this not a little rough! He could be a citizen of the Earth Kingdom!"

"AND HE COULD BE A SPY!" with that he smacked Bei again just because of the anger boiling within him. "Stand down Ziro or you are next!" ....Ziro bit his tongue stepping back away from the situation....He watched.

The smack, connected in a resounding clap, it disoriented him enough that, he had been leaning lurched over to the side that the moment push him. blinking his eye, and shaking his head. Only to get another one, one cheek redder then the other, pain forced his eye to water, oh how those thunderous slaps stung into his face. Another shake of his head this to push the tears ways. Looking back at the captain. "You think me a spy, my people think me dead."

It was true, he had seen his name in the list of students and teacher who were killed in his error. It was a hard fact that he could never forget, 43 people died because he grew fearful of a simple ember, that caused a catastrophic damage. His thought returned if, he was to avoid another scorpion sting of a slap, now was the chance to give more information.

"I want a name damnit!" the Capitan pulled his hand back bringing it down at Bei. Ziro couldn't stand for this he shifted his weight to the right sliding his right foot forward a wall of earth lifting up the Capitan hitting that instead of Bei.

Ziro formed a fist with his left hand bring it around and punching at the sky. It shot Bei from the hole he was in and towards the sky a few feet. Ziro knew he was about to pay for his actions but he couldn't watch his Capitan embarrass himself and embarrass the Earth Kingdom any longer.

The Capitan turned to look at Ziro after he slapped the rock. He stomped his right foot a peice of earth launching Ziro into the sky a little bit. He then jumped and planted both feet on Ziros chest shooting him back with all his might. Ziro flew across the sky and smacked into a tree. He was dazed....The Capitan turned back towards Bei..........

A flame lit the entire area, soon before the captain turned to view Bei. Who was now, being propelled backwards,a a massive stream of searing white hot flames were on a collision course with the Captain himself. Even the surrounding temperature of the area increased. Bei may not have been have as much aptitude with bending fire, but he was taught to increase its temperature astoundingly. Though his abilities were short lived because of it. He could maybe produce the stream for maybe ten seconds more, before heat fatigue would set in.

The heat near Bei had caused sweat to bead before him, though. Cringing, as he tried to focus on what he knew. The propulsion had him flying in the direction of the soldier who had helped him out. even if it was unintentional.

The Capitan tried to react by lifting a column of earth but was to late. The flames hit him and he hit the ground. His armor was burnt and seared black. The towns folk saw the fire and instantly associated Bei with the burning of the village.

"He burned down the village!" "He kidnapped the kids!" "Get em!"

A mob of citizens were now running at Bei and coincidently Ziro...

Ziro was trying to get up still a little dazed after hitting the tree so hard.

The ten or so soldiers searching the woods heard all the commotion and headed towards it all. Ziro and Bei would only have a minute before the soldiers arrived but only a few seconds before they were mobbed by the furious citizens.

Flying by the dazed one, "Better run!" Unfortunately at that time, he was clipped by a tree branch, and forced into a flip, and slammed on the ground chest first. Cough and sharp inhale of breath. Hands together, pushing himself dazedly to his feet. That was never happening again.

The only thing that brought him too his sense was the fact a stone hit him in the head. Now a sharp pain, as it cut the skin above his brow. Blood began to move down the side of his cheek. he wouldn't wait to see if the other man was going to flee. Staggering forward, for a short matter of time, before he gained his bearings. Still winded this was not going to go well, he needed a hide away to get him out of their sight.

Ziro watched the mob then he looked at the newly discovered firebender. He ran towards the woods vanishing in the thick brush. The mob splitting up some following Bei and some following Ziro. The Soldiers were joining the chase aswell. Ziro remembered a set of tunnels that were somewhere deep in these woods. That was his best bet he thought....The woods were very thick couldn't really run just had to move quickly around each tree and that he did.

Bei

The brush was not near as foreign to him as it could be to some other. No, Higher steps were taken, longer strides. In a dead on sprint, his hand grabbed a tree and stayed, adjusting his movement to a right angle. Jumping over smaller brush, and into a clearing. The Villagers were hot on his trail, the soldier moving not so far behind them. It took him maybe a few second to pass from on point of the clearing to another. Stopping to catch his breath, looking around. The could hear them gaining. His cloak, removing it as he started back off in his escape. Tossing it to the ground. That would hopefully cause them to slow, or assume he went to the trees for security.

His eyes caught the sight of a few caves. There, I can lose them. Darting towards it, hearing their calls and voices lower as he got further and further away.

The rubble blocking the entrance shot into the sky falling all around Ziro as he began to run into the entrance. He turned and saw the town folk stop at the edge of the woods trying to avoid being hit by falling rocks. The town folk not being bends would just get hit...

Ziro put both hands out infront of him and closed his eyes squeezing his hands trying to bend the entrance of the cave shut. With a flick of his wrist the cave entrance crumbled. He let out a sigh, he was really tired. To much running and bending. He quickly deeper into the cave.

A boulder dropping in front of him, almost on him. Slamming into, and staggering as he continued to run. That had winded him, but his life was at stake. The ceiling continue to fall around him, diving for hope. the last of his entrance fell, as he just narrowly avoided becoming a pancake.

The dust around him made his predicament no better as he was now blinded by the simple fact he was not able to see in pitch. raising back to his feet, he moved to the wall, along the rubble. Yes touch was now his only means to travel.

He moved against the wall making his way down the corridor. He never has had to use sonar type abilities so he wasnt skilled in that and really didn't even know how to do it. He has always been able to see so no reason for it...

I wonder if that other guy went into the caves aswell he turned a corner and kept hugging the wall as he went deeper and deeper. It wouldn't be long before the Soldiers followed him down into the caves. He couldn't help but wonder if he was being labeled as a traitor or what now...

His master teaching rang heavy in his memories, but for the life of him, he could never figure as to how to make the fire last for more then a few moments without fatiguing himself. Of scorching the area from which he used it. His master had taught him a great deal, but when he insisted Bei never hold back when he was fire bending his lessons would fall flat when he was only able to produce white flames, which was a pinnacle of power amongst fire benders. No, Bei was forced to do this as a blind man. No sight.

"Lets see how long my patience holds out, and decide to just simply harm myself in the process." Spoken aloud, and it echoed, through out the tunnel. Hopefully that man who had rested him from the ground was okay. And not in his position.

It had been hours, and Bei had made it far enough into the cave that he happened upon some florescent fungi. It was the best lighting but sure enough the aqueduct like area of a room. Was well lit, his eyes adjusted rather easily to the lighting The light green glow of the fungus, the smooth crisp reflection of it upon the water. As well as the semi florescent Koi, within the water itself.

The whole sight had the young fire bender in awe, and with his back to the wall. He lowered to be seated, he had traveled far, and had no earthly idea where he was. Or if he'd ever make it out of this labyrinth of stone and earth. His eye lids, fluttered shut as he sit there back to the wall, drifting into the peace slumber of taking a nap.

Ziro heard the Soldiers shouting outside the caved in entrance. He started to move faster down the cave tunnel. He stopped for a second having a great idea. He tossed the military issued cap he was wearing on the ground and stepped back. He lifted both hands and started to make the ground shake. He wasn't to far from the entrance so he was sure it was quaking out there aswell. It was a small tremor but enough to mimic a small rock slide.

The Rocks on either side of the cave began to tumble and soon the cave tunnel was filling with rocks. It covered his hat enough to make it seem like he died in a cave in. He fell to the ground, earth bending was tiring.

He smirked at his plan though, That should do it it was still pitch black as he helped himself up with the wall as support. He continued down the tunnel it was completely silent. He saw a dim light towards the end of the tunnel.

The tunnels were empty, they just led to a small lake on the mainland. He scratched his head trying to remember back....What could that be?

His nap was not stopped by the minor tremor, and besides, if he was going to go out it would not be by a mountain...Definately not he'd hoped. His eyes, opened to view the lake. It was a bit peaceful, so he was almost fully rested by teh time his nap was over.

Legs brought to his chest, and using his hand on the wall he got up. Leaning down and taking some ot the fungi, and pushing them onto an arrows. It may not illuminate like a torch but it still provided light to see with. So he started towards the exit at the back of the massive underground room.

Ziro reached the corner of the path he had been following. He peeked over trying to see what the light was. Torches" he heard some movement and got behind cover again. He peeked back slowly seeing everything, a few torches lit and strategically placed around this small room. A few boxes here and there and some seats set up with what looked like the remains of a camp fire in the middle of them.

He silently moved towards a column of earth that was on the opposite side of the room from where he first was. The sound of footsteps filling the room again. "God dammit, I'm always stuck hauling this crap back and forth." the voice sounded very agitated and old. "I didn't even get to enjoy burning that town down, I never get to have fun" the man picked up a box and walked back down the corridor he came from originally.

Who is this guy' He obviously had to do with the kidnappings. And what is he stuck hauling" was all Ziro could think....He saw his opportunity and took it. He popped from behind the column and pushed his right foot forward bringing both hands up and under lifting up. A rock wall shot from the ground closing the corridor the man was in off from the room. Ziro quickly moved to the boxes.

He cracked open one box, "Woah!" he said taken back looking at the box full of explosives. He moved to another box, "Earth Nation uniforms?" he held up a uniform looking it over.

"Dagnabit! Ill get you. Whoever is over there better not touch any of those boxes or I'll have to crack some skulls" the old man hit the wall. He obviously wasn't an earthbender.

Ziro grabbed one of the torches throwing it in the box of uniforms and then took the other with him as he bolted down towards one of the many exits from the tunnels. Those explosives might blow up and that would cause the whole tunnel system to cave in. He definitely wasn't going to be in the caves when that happened.

Walking, through the tunnels. This was the first time he was ever in one so he had no idea what to expect, and, as such the floor gave way as he pressed his foot to one patch, and he fell through, and landed face first, on the floor of the tunnel before.

Coincidentally he landed maybe fifty or more feet before the soldier from earlier. Rubble, had fallen and some of it was on his back. His short bow, was now broken and effectively useless. Maybe a few arrows had managed to stay in the quiver but most were simply scattered about around him. The one with the florescent fungi, as somewhere under a big enough rock. The dust settled upon the floor rather quickly, and he regained his body.

It hurt to push himself up, but he needed to get up. small pebbles, and debris fell off his back as he managed to his knees. Leaning back and breathing labored. A wince as he felt a sharp pain in his chest. He had probably broken a rib. Leaning forward a hand to his torso, about the side his mid section. The other was placed on the ground to give him balance. One more try, and painfully, he got to his feet, and staggered, looking around for a few second. There was light coming from somewhere, but in the his disorientation he hadn't a clue.

Spaz stopped abruptly as the roof collapse infront of him. He watched a man fell. He couldn't really tell who it is.......so he started running again past the guy. He didn't look back as he made his exit from the cave a few moments later.

He stopped outside falling to the ground panting. Bending plus running was extremely tiring. He looked back at the cave No Boom? he waited a second...

Turning around, and shaking his head. He saw the man from before go running, past him. And he could hear the sounds of shouting coming from behind him. So he did the only thing he could do at that exact moment. And that was to take off running, in the direction of the exit.
