" He wants to do what for the New Years special" A LIVE kidnapping and a ransom telethon?" Bryce reached for the bottle of antacids that had become an eternal fixture on his desk. " I knew the man was mad but this just reaches new heights of lunacy!"

"You have to give him points for originality though. The public is just eating this stuff up. And who else would have the balls to want the viewers to ransom the victim?" Paul was actually pretty impressed with the elaborate proposal that had been delivered to the Black Lantern offices just this morning. He was already going through and making plans in his head. This could very well be the publicity event of the year.

"We have a camera crew ready to go right now. We can have them to him in the hour." Ceilia had gotten her promotion, and just come back from her six week tropical vacation. She was tanned and relaxed as she perched on the edge of Bryce's desk, checking the level of the medicine in his bottle. " While I may not like the theme of his programing, you have to admit the stations never done better."

" What do our lawyers say about this?"

" They love it of course." Paul patted Bryce's shoulder consolingly. " Cheer up man. Its not the end of the world."

Bryce just boggled at the other man. "Are you sure about that?"

The lights came on on the specially constructed stage, lighting the lone figure standing next to a monitor there. A cheerful soundtrack reminiscent of the opening theme to a 70's game show played softly in the background.

" Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen. We have something unique for your viewing pleasure tonight. From the producers of the unexpected Reality TV hit "Who Wants to be a Victim" we bring you "Kidnapped!"

Bill Jennings was a little surprised to find himself stuffed into a tux and standing on this stage tonight. Usually his job was in the accounting department of Black Lantern Media. But this morning he had gotten a memo from Paul Waverly up in publicity telling him tonight's show would make or break the budget for the next year.

And so Bill found himself hosting a telethon. As he read the prompts given to him, harsh lights came up highlighting the rest of the accounting department where they were manning a bank of phones and carrier pigeons. Only in Rhydin.

"And now let me introduce you to our star of the hour." The monitor beside Bill came to life slowly fading from the Black Lantern logo to the scene of the crime.
