She looked at her sleeping mate, in the southern glen that was thier home, and sighed. Soundlessly she went to a wooden chest she'd had brought here and opened it. Her armour. It gleamed brightly as the day she'd first had it made. She slowly took out each peice, and turned it over in her hands. She sighed. The Friends of the Abyss, whatever that was, she'd been briefed and wasn't looking forward to any encounters. Didn't matter, she was a battle steed and Brian's second. She knew her duty.

Deftly she donned her cuirass, the steel of it glinting as she tightened the buckles. Next came the plate leg peices. these had been made for the military's horses, but fit her just as well. Buckles were tightened and clamps snapped into place. Then her back mail. this was a loose chain mail that draped over a thin blanket to minimize pinching, and it draped over her barrel comfortably. Over this was a plate armour peice with a built-in saddle, and a special shape to accomidate her wings. Using a special loop, designed for her to be able to tighten the cinch, her left rear hoof applied the tension, while incredible torque allowed her human torso to turn and lean to work the buckle, placed not under her belly like most, but on the side so she could reach it. the loop was turned loose and tucked up under the back plate where tension held it firm. Around her human waist she held up a contured peice that would hang just between her front equine legs and protect that vulnerable spot, the wide leather belt was cinched and then the bottom straps were pulled through to connect to the underside of the cinch to her backplating. Weapons next, Her hunting knife, in a sheath at her human waist, a coil of rope, bow and quiver slung across human shoulders. Next to the saddle peice, she slid a lance, and on the other side a spear. also hung were a mace and scimitar. This filly was armed to the teeth.

Having the advantage of size strength, being able to fly and the protection of a rider on her back, she wasn't much worried by the fact she carried Aiax's foal. Besides, she'd not put herself directly in harm's way. Likely Brian would find another task, but better prepared than dead....As an after thought, she picked up a small can and pu it in a slide harness on her hip, the label peeked over the strap that held it firm "Bear mace". Where had she gotten that...? She trotted to her mate, kissed his sleeping face, and left a note. "Went to report to Brian, to be assigned, don't worry, love Epona" It was simple but to the point. She knew he'd worry anyway, but he also knew she was competent. Without another moment to lose, she headed to West End Garrison to see her Commander.
