Vampiric Tragedy

The vampire had grown weary. Tired. Restless. She was bored with the endless supply of willing victims. There was no need to hunt anymore. She grew weary of all the luxury around her. It was time for a change. Something new was needed.

And so without a word she just...Vanished. No boys and girls she didn't disappear into the Abyss. She merely had moved on. Tired of her old life. She was meant for more than this. She longed for the days when she used to be a youngling. The thrill of the hunt. Having to struggle to survive. Yes, she thirsted for it.

So now she had arrived here. In Rhydin. Hoping to find the thrill in her eternal life once more. She had come with no money. No luxury. Nothing. She only came with herself. And the clothes upon that luscious body of hers.

She would find the thrills she so despertely seeked. Starting with a little snack. Then...A pet. Yes, how she longed to have one. She had grown tired of her other ones. Always so willing. And eager. Not a speck of fear in them. They worshipped their Goddess but did not fear her.

She longed to be feared. And worshipped by thousands once more. She longed for mortals to bow and cringe in the presence of her terrible beauty. She longed for it all.

And maybe. Just maybe. She would find it here.

She was not impressed.

No. She wasn't impressed with Rhydin at all. Sure the food was bountiful. The women perfect and beautiful. The men perfectly rugged and chisled. It was like living in a wet dream.

But where was the imperfection' Where was the fear" Here vampires walked in front of mortals as if it were nothing. And the mortals reacted as if it weren't some big deal. This did not bode well with her.

No, not at all. Where was the fear" She didn't understand. She began to study in the bookstore. Hopefully she would be able to find some answers there.

Silence. The weight of the night pressed against her body like a glove seeking to envelop her. Slippered feet made no sound as she walked in the seemingly empty alley way.

Her hearing was keen. As was any vampire's. Her sight' Perfect. Then...She saw it. The lowly little mortal who was sleeping among the garbage.

Her nostrils flared as she inhaled the scent. A lowly human who had done some horrible things in their time. The human had that certain stench about them.

Perfect. Full lips slowly curling into a delightful smile. She kept to the shadows. Not wanting to scare the poor thing off of course. She ran her tongue over her lips as she got closer and closer still.

Soon she was within touching distance. The skirt of her dress whispered against the cobble stone street as she knelt down. With her index finger she ran her black painted sharp nail down the human's face.

She hadn't been thinking about how much pressure she applied for soon the cut welled up and blood began to drip down.

Black pools bled to the color of crimson. She couldn't help it anymore. Her lips parted as she sung a soothing melody from long past. A language that was not known any more. The song would keep the mortal sleeping so no other mortals would be alerted to her crime.

The mortal sighed in bliss. A sure sign that her song had worked. She chuckled softly as she pulled the human towards her. Cradling him in her arms. Icy cold pale hand caressing his face like a lover.

Then sweeping his hair to the side she lowered those lovely lips to the throbbing pulse in his neck. He would feel the pressure of her fangs digging in but not the pain of it. To him it felt like bliss and he moaned a little in his sleep.

Her eyes fluttered shut as she clutched him close to her. Feeding off of him. Just as soon as it had began it was over. He was dead. A bloodless lifeless husk. She hadn't even spilt any blood. Very good. She was most pleased.

Picking up the dry husk she tossed it onto the pile of garbage. His body hardly made a sound when it landed on the garbage. After smoothing out her dress she emerged from the alley.

Her eyes had returned to the stunning onyx hue that they were before. She turned on her heel and continued walking. Another victim. Another night.

The dim candle light reflected in those black pools. Too dim for mere mortal eyes. But she was not mortal, was she" She sat alone in the book store. Teas 'n Tomes they called it. Or some such silly name.

Carefully she turned the brittle and ancient pages before her. It had taken some searching but she finally found a book. The leather it was bound in was cracked and falling apart. Coming apart at the spine one had to be extra careful to not tear the book.

True the book was in horrid condition but it seemed to have the answers she searched for. She turned each page after her eyes soaked in the words before her. In an almost loving caress.

She learned more of this land. This Rhydin. She also learned of other lands. She learned what she needed to learn. One name struck out at her above all others: Darkon. What was this land" Who inhabited it' And most importantly; who ruled it?

Well there was only one way to find out, correct' She had found a map. Tattered and torn the ink horribly faded. But she could make it out just fine. Folding up the map ever so carefully she slipped it into her pocket.

She closed the book and returned it to its proper place. Drawing the hood of her cloak up over her face she blew out the candle. A new goal in mind she walked out of the book store and turned to the direction of the land known as Darkon.

But before she made her journey to Darkon she had something to take care of first. For perhaps the last time she made her way back into the book store.

She had meant to grab a few books to aid her on her travels when she met a delightful little morsel named Nala. They chatted for a bit then not being able to deny her hunger any longer she fell upon the girl.

She had almost drained the girl dry. With but one drop remaining she offered her eternal life. Nala accepted. And so...Madeline now had a pet of her own. Someone who could show her around Rhydin and to sate her various...Desires.

Yes, she would prove most vaulable indeed.

She was terribly disappointed. When she finally had everything in order she had recieved news that this Darkon did not exist anymore.

Ah well...Another empire fallen. Just like she had predicted. It was sad how so many things she predicted came true.

She then decided that she would remain at the Red Dragon for a while longer. Taking delight in the company of mortals and in the sweet company her pet had to offer.

A while back she had come in contact with a demon named Shade. He mentioned something about a woman named Lilly who claims to be the devil.

To say in the least...Her interest is peeked. She will meet this Lilly and decide for herself if she is indeed the devil. She had met many creatures who have claimed to be more than what they were and she was sorely disappointed when she found out such wasn't true.

So...She would find out who this Lilly really was.
