Any venture like this was not without its risks and Paul knew this. Expanding into as hellish an environment as Rhy'din was would be difficult. It was a diverse economy with a massive range of potential threats and competitors. It was also his greatest chance to truly place the company on a epic scale. Glancing over the quarterly reports of his sales he knew they had gone stagnant in the last year or so. The company just couldn't grow any more here, expansion into foreign markets was the only way.

For half a heartbeat Paul wondered why he cared to expand, he was more than wealthy as it was; the company was profitable, he was happy. As these thoughts crossed his mind he looked to the picture of his wife and children sitting on his desk and he knew the answer. He did it for them; he would make such a life for them as he never knew. He sits back in his chair and begins to once more go through the massive mental checklist of things that must be done for the move. Most of the actual home moving arrangements had been made already by Madelyn. His concerns were of a much more practical matter in his mind. He was to tend to this new and staggeringly large vineyard.

When he first saw it, he knew it was the right buy for them. Over fifty acres of vineyard, old and beaten. It had been poorly tended for at least a decade when they found it. The owner wanted nothing more than to see it go and Paul new a good deal when he saw one. The land alone was worth well over twice what he had paid for it, a desperate sale on the previous owners part. He almost wished it had cost more, then it may have been in better shape. The move was simply so he could manage the new vineyard himself. It needed a firm and practical hand to oversee its rebirth.

Paul rose from his chair and made his way to the door of the office. A last glance around the room verified that everything he needed out of it was packed and ready to be moved. Before leavening he grabs the picture of his family off the desk, it was far to dear to him to be shipped in some crate. Tucking it neatly into his briefcase he makes his way into the main portion of the house. All about him the effect of life in this home were being packed to move to the next. He cared little, they were just things really.

He soon found himself seeking his wife where he thought she would be. He was disappointed to not find her anywhere that he thought he would. No doubt she was tending to some all important detail of their move. Unlike himself she seemed rather thrilled to be moving to Rhy'din. She had lived there before and had friends and the like there. Paul had no such contacts in Rhy'din. He was leaving all that behind.

It mattered little to him to leave this all behind. Even here he had nothing he would call a friend. He had those he knew on a friendlier basis but even those were really just work associates. While thinking on this he found his darling wife. She was in front of the house, managing her things being loaded. Looking at her, a smile crossed his face, the first of the day. He loved seeing her, even from afar as he was now. He deemed that she was busy and left her to her supervising.

Making his way through the house to the back porch he took in the sounds of the move. Not what he liked to hear in his house. He wanted it quiet or if it had to be loud he wanted the sounds of his growing family. Children playing or Madelyn singing while she cooked; those were the sounds of a happy home.

When he arrived on the back porch he stared out onto his vineyard here for the last time. All about him hibernating vines expand as far as the eye can see. He would make the new home into one like this. He would make it prosper one way or the other. Paul had no doubt in his skill to accomplish such a task, though, he did regret the time it would mean away from his family. Only in recent memory had he found any real time for them at all, and he was about to lose it. It was for the best though, for their best.

The move hadn't gone quite as quickly as she'd wanted, having originally planned on arriving in Rhydin in November. Moving hassles held them up, along with issues regarding the land they'd bought in Rhydin. By the time all was settled, Mady's due date was quickly encroaching. Making an executive decision, Paul had decided to stay in France until their fourth child was born.

Mere days after Elise Mari arrived into the world, the Daae family finished packing and made the trip to Rhydin. It was rough on mother and child, but the other three children found the trek rather exciting. Paul handled the bunch well, considering that Mady couldn't be much help at the time.

Once arriving in Rhydin in late December, just after Christmas, Paul immediately set to hiring staff to tend to the grounds which had been poorly kept previously. There was a lot of work and Paul presence around the house was scarce. That being the case, Madelyn set to caring for her children and unpacking. Of course there were servants and nanny's to help with both tasks, but Madelyn prided herself in knowing she could handle both. Though, that didn't stop her from allowing the help. While the rest of the household brought in and moved furniture around, she busied herself with arranging the children's rooms.

PJ, their oldest was the hardest. He was six and had quite the mind about where he wanted his things placed. Madelyn, though tired, took the first day to fix his room. Over the course of the next two weeks she decorated Grace and Simon's nursery's. The trouble with having children was that sometimes one didn't quite have time in between births. Grace, at 3 and a half years of age was still in diapers and little Simon turned two mid-February. Elise, the youngest was just over a month old. By the time the week was over, Madelyn was exhausted.

Paul was in and out of the house periodically, not exactly leaving Madelyn with much time to herself. Though the option to leave the children with the nanny was present, it wasn't an option Madelyn liked to use. They were her children and unless she was out of the house she tended to them herself.

What kept her going this first month in the new environment, unable to leave the house, was the thought of reuniting with her lost 'kindred spirit', Koyliak. Madelyn often dreamed of the meeting and what her friend was like now. It might have seemed silly to on the outside look in—Madelyn holding onto a friendship that had such a long pause.

Soon. Very soon the tasks of running a new home would settle and she and Paul would be able to get out into society. Madelyn was eager to explore the city; see how it had changed.

That night, as she set Elise into the bassinet by the bed she shared with her husband, Mady ran a hand over her stomach. Surprisingly she'd lost most of the baby weight fairly quickly. This made her smile as she turned to sit on the edge of the bed. Fingers found the hem of her silk nightgown which came to her mid-thigh. Her eyes closed briefly before she laid down, gaze flitting over her husband's form lying next to her. She watched his chest raise as he inhaled softly and lower as he exhaled while he slept. Her marriage wasn't what most women could handle and at times Mady had her moments, but this man was her world. He loved her beyond compare and thought of nothing but things that would better the life for his family.

"I love you," she whispered softly, cuddling against his warm body.

Paul shifted, draping an arm around his wife. Madelyn smiled as he whispered a tired response. "I love you, too, Madelyn." It was the best feeling in the world to Paul: holding the perfect body of his wife in his arms. He knew how stressful being a mother was and hoped he could manage to get her out of the house within the next couple of weeks.
