"Terrible evil was done here."

Anders glanced aside to the man standing at his shoulder. Sam looked like your stereotypical Catholic priest in all black with the white collar, only instead of carrying a rosary he had a sawed off shotgun resting on his shoulder.

"This was done by men," he said gruffly as he crouched near one of the bodies. There was a half a dozen of them spread over the scene, mostly adults, but a few of those bodies were too small to be anything but children. The lot was charred beyond recognition. "Humans. And why are you dressed like that?"

Anders himself for a drab grey uniform, neatly pressed and everything in its place. There are darker spots on the sleeves where he had removed the patches that might have identified what organization he belonged to.

"Human are not, this is the work of animals," the priest intoned severely. "We're supposed to blend in, Anders. Priests where this sort of stuff."

"You know that Catholic priests are celibate, right' No woman will touch you wearing that." Anders rose to move on to the next body, careful to step around the pools of blood. This had been a massacre. "They were shot before they were burned. Some of them were still alive." He didn't need his ghastly Sight to know that. Some of the pools of blood were smudged.

"Celibate, you say?" Sam stroked at his goatee. "I may have to find new clothes. You definitely need new clothes. No one will believe you're anything but a soldier."

He knew that would sway the priest. The second comment washed away the evidence of a forming smile.

"I don't want to blend in with these people, Sam," he replied as he rose. He stepped nimbly away from the bodies and turned to make sure he hadn't left so much as a hair behind. His mismatched eyes were the sort that did not miss much.

"We're going to have to. You're going to have to."

Anders grit his teeth. His friend wasn't wrong as much as he hated it.

"Cleanse the scene. We don't need the locals getting wind of this."

When the pair left the scene they alley way looked more pristine than it ever did. All traces of the bodies gone.
