"One thing can be said about stories retold: Every time it's told, it changes. Every author, every generation, it's different. Every fucking time. The ridiculousness of each time it's told just exceeds my expectations. It's impressive, really. To read the kind of bull shit people come up with the more they play telephone until it becomes so outlandish it becomes a myth...

This much I can say:

I'm not a myth.

Apollo never tried to rape me, nor is he what you think he is.

Some people just like to watch the world burn.

I am one of them.

I am far from dead though some would say differently.

Oh....and one more thing.

Do I look like a fucking plant to you?"

Some parts of the myth were true, such as usually spotting her kind around some body of water. Today, it was a natural spring. Elegantly sprawled across the rough surface of a boulder, the Undine rested. Sunbathing as her feet wadded into the water thanks to the faint incline of the rock. Caramel eyes were closed against the brightness of the sun, leaving her with the unusual sight of brightness between her lids. Between the warmth of the sun, the coolness of the water that lapped at her toes due to the slight cascade that fell from a formation of rocks and boulders, she was almost asleep.

That is, up until the sound of quiet footfall snapped her eyes wide and had her neck craning in the direction of the noise. Wide eyes quickly narrowed at the sight of an almost femininely attractive man. Her torso raised from the mossy rock, hands coming to press her palms to the roughness of it to keep herself propped up to get a better look. She caught glimpses of a man through the tree-line, but he hadn't seemed to notice her. Yet.

Blonde wavy locks that framed delicate features caught her attention first before she gave him a full once over. She would admit he was attractive, but that's where the interest ended. Her gaze narrowed dangerously at the sight of the bow strapped to his back and she slipped off the rock, reaching and curling slender fingers around the curve of a makeshift dagger made of carved bone. Her movements were silent and slow, moving around the edges of the water. Her nude body crouched lower to the ground, keeping her steps careful and steady as she approached through the treeline after him.

He remained oblivious to the fact that he was being tailed, leaving the opportunity of her steady approach. She didn't trust anyone with a bow, knowing her own kind was easily hunted. She was an abomination, a nymph without a soul was considered wrong and against nature to just about anyone. Her kind's habits didn't help her cases any either. The fact that they preyed on men, manipulating them into marriage for the possibility of immortality through gaining their soul. Their offspring weren't what worried the people, not wholly. A human with a soul and a few aquatic abilities weren't much. They still had a conscious and abode by human laws. Undines didn't. In Artemis' eyes, they were kill-on-spot creatures.

And she wasn't going to be a victim of Artemis' judgment today.

Fingers gripped tightly on the bone carved into a blade, her steps quick yet careful as she made her approach on the man. Her lips turned into a natural sneer as she came up behind him, pulling back her arm in means of impaling him through the back. "Die, human filth!" She growled between clenched teeth as she lunged the blade forward, only for the man to twist around to face her. Inhuman speed caught her wrist and squeezed to the point of pain, making her wince. "Let me go." The fiery nymph's chin lifted to the medium-height blonde man as a lob of spit was shot into his face, a smile spreading that showed her teeth though it was contorted with pain.

The man raised his free hand, using the full extent of it to wipe her saliva from his face before shooting a glare once the hand had passed his eyes. "You made a poor decision today, Undine." Azure eyes lowered to the bone dagger loosely gripped in her hand before wretching it from her grasp, flinging his arm to the side and taking her feeble body with it. She landed with a thud, rolling until she was on her belly. Her head snapped up, caramel locks littered with leaves from the forest floor flung against her back in the motion while eyes the same shade as her hair narrowed at him. "What are you?" Her eyes trailed along his body, then up to his face. He was no human, that much she could tell. She'd never known a human that could fling her about like a rag doll....unless...

"You just tried to stab Apollo in the back. I knew Undines could be stupid, but you've apparently lost your mind." His eyes had narrowed at her, with her own weapon in his hand as he approached. A hand came down to grasp her wavy tresses, pulling her to her feet and bringing a wince from her lips. She wouldn't scream, instead she just glared at him, a fire in her heart that was moving through her body. "My mind is just fine, God or not, I'm not on your list today." She spat the words at him, now standing on her feet with her hands clamped around his wrist. His fingers kept it's grip on her hair, turning her head at an awkward angle as she tried to think of a way to get out of his grip without just tearing her hair out of her skull. She was a tad vain when it came to her hair, but who didn't have their vanity moments"

"Well, well. Aren't you a courageous Undine.." It was a debate if she had courage or was just plain stupid. Pissing off a God was probably pretty stupid. But she didn't care. She never did. Soulless was an automatic sociopath. How could they not be? It was just pure logical thinking, so....where the hell was the logic in this"! There was any. She just had a temper and let it get the best of her. Those pretty caramel hues narrowed at the man who had her locked in his grip, who had pressed her own blade to her throat. "And you're a coward.." She growled at him, narrowing her eyes further until they were nearly just slits. "Do it." Her gaze was challenging against his, jaw clenching as she made a move he didn't seem to expect. Her fingers curled and she aimed to piss him off, swiping out her nails to rake down his cheek and scratch him hard enough to draw blood. His frame went still for only a moment, that little bit of surprise before a menacing smile broke across his face. The hand holding the blade lifted to brush at the blood that had accumulated on his cheek, azure orbs looking at the smear of crimson across his digits. They shifted back to her glare, his smile spreading impossibly wider. "Aren't you just a treat.."

Little did she know....it was her self destructive nature that kept her alive that day.

"What's it like being a God?" Sprawled naked beneath the intricate bowing coils of branches of a Plane tree, caramel tendrils curled carelessly across the forest floor was the Undine. Matching eyes drifted up to Apollo as he sat against the thick trunk of the tree. He looked at her like she was insane, then stupid as he rolled his eyes and heaved a sigh. "Not as entertaining as one would think. Save the fact that everyone's at each other's throats, always trying to undermine or deceive each other. And then there's Zeus..." His azure gaze bore down on her as a sly smile curled among his features. "Need I say more?" Using a smaller carved blade to scoop up some fig, he slid the fruit covered blade into his mouth. Fearless of slicing his mouth open in the process as he ran his tongue along the blade to get the fruit off the edge.

A roll of honey behind those long lashes as she lifted herself from the ground into a sitting position, wrapping her arms around knees that lifted. "I know plenty of Zeus." She scowled, not caring much for the King of the Gods. Reputation or the man himself. He was one she aimed to steer clear of to her undying breath. Her head turned to rest her chin on her shoulder, peering over at Apollo. "And just what would your sister say about you spending time with an Undine?" There was a glimmer in her gaze, a smirk tainted with mischief and savagery. Her brows lifted expectantly, because she had a feeling she already knew the answer.

"Artemis can get plowed by a mule if she thinks she can control what I do." There was a taunting his own gaze, that hint of destruction laced with mischief matching hers. Maybe the Undine didn't already know the answer....that was not what she was expecting to come from the young-faced God with wavy blonde locks and azure blues that shimmered like the brightest blue sky. It brought a whimsical, lyrical laugh tarnished by anguish, her head tilting back some in the gesture.

She nearly sprung to her feet when her laughter had trailed into a soft chuckle, agile and quick on her feet as she turned towards him. Walking backwards as her finger curled towards herself, "Come. Let's kill something. I want to spill some blood." Flashes of malice shot through her gaze and features, her pretty smile devious as she called for him to join her. He tossed the fig aside, brushing his hands against each other to rid them of the residue from the fruit. A sinister chuckle left those almost too-pretty features as he bounced to his feet in a single agile motion, stalking towards her. "It's about time you said something worth listening to."

There was a feigned pout shot at him before her face came forward in a snap and gnash of teeth, a light growl escaping her before she turned tail and started sprinting towards the treeline. "Don't fall behind, Music God." She taunted, having found the humor in what he was known for suited nothing of his personality....

At least not the part of him that she knew.

Soulless Fixation

It had seemed they had jinxed themselves about Artemis.

It wasn't but maybe a singe moon cycle before she found her twin brother perusing through the forest with the Undine, hiding behind some foliage to watch the two together.

They were laughing about something they had been talking about, the Undine playfully shoving the arm of God that didn't do much at all to budge him. A playful quirk of a smile as she narrowed pretty eyes at him, only for one of his hands to come to her shoulder and shove her back. She stumbled, falling back onto the forest floor to her rear. She let out a growl, leaning to one side on a propped arm to rub the sore cheek of her backwide. Seemed she'd landed on a rock. "Methusai..." She murmured, grumbling at him as she slowly got to her feet.

"Perhaps you should consider the fact that coming at me will do you no good. You'll only fall on your gloutos every time." Apollo sneered at her, bringing a middle finger to his thumb and flicking the tip of her nose, of which the Undine snapped her teeth at it.

"Go blow a mule, you insufferable koprophage." She snapped back at him, the fiery water nymph's bite was far worse than her bark but her and Apollo had gotten past beating on each other at this point. Other than the occasional playful shove or swat.

It was then that Artemis stepped out of the foliage, daggers springing from her eyes towards the Undine. She was looking back and forth between the two, as if trying to figure out what the hell was going on between them. "Is there where you've been, brother" Consorting with an Undine"!" She seemed outraged, a vein beside her temple nearly throbbing as she approached the two like a slinking cat wanting to swat them both down.

Apollo's head snapped in his sister's direction, gaze narrowing as she edged closer to the two. "It's none of your business who I consort with, Artemis." He nearly spat acid at her as the word was mimicked back to her. Acantha looked between the two with raised brows, amusement etched on her face watching the God and Goddess twins, wondering if she were going to see them throwing fists at each other. Or possibly arrows. It was Greece after all.

"It is when you know consorting with the abominations are forbidden, Apollo!" She barked at him, taking the final step to be in his face. She was only an inch or two shorter than her brother, but her ferocity made her taller. "You know how they survive, you imbecile. Of anyone I would expect my twin to understand that." She turned her head and spat in Acantha's direction, who merely looked down at the forest floor where the lob landed. Her brows furrowed at the insult and that's when she stepped in, malice and irritation boiling to the surface.

"Listen Huntress, whatever you think is going on between Apollo and I.." Surprise splashed across her face as his hand came out to her chest, pushing her back. Is that son of a kopros standing up for me" When in Hades did this start happening" The words were written all over her face as she glared at the blonde wavy locks at the back of his head from where he'd shoved her behind him, as well as finishing her sentence for her. "Is exactly what you think it is." Um...no it's not.. Her gaze narrowed even further, a faint growl tearing from between her teeth.

Artemis looked stunned at him, eyes wide as she took a step back. She shook her head, as if she couldn't believe it. Her expression upon him was laced with calling him an imbecile and saying he'd betrayed her. "If you wish to lay with an Undine and become her next means of immortality, don't come crawling back to me when you end up in the River." Was she telling him that bedding the Undine, he would fall prey and then become unfaithful, to be killed by her" Perhaps.

His top lip lifted as he snarled at Artemis, nodding his head toward the treeline. "Then mayhaps you should leave, sister before you become witness to something you don't desire to." Artemis looked betrayed and disgusted, Apollo looked malicious and the Undine was fuming behind his back. I am not your little play nymph, you horse's ass!

When Artemis had left, the Undine turned on him, lifting a curled hand and punching him in the shoulder. "Are you out of your goblet! We aren't bedding together, asshole!" She growled at him, her features laced with anger and she looked like she wanted to sock him in the jaw. The taunting smile from the God wasn't helping, "No, but she doesn't know that. Maybe it'll teach her not to make so many assumptions." He snickered, completely calm about the whole ordeal. He even had the audacity to turn around and continue on in the direction him and the nymph had been heading.

She trotted after him, still glaring but mulling things over. "You're thinking of pulling one over on her, aren't you?" Her arms had lifted in the midst of her catching up to him, crossing over her busty chest. Azure blues slid over to her, giving a single nod. That's when her smile broke out, grinning before she lifted her leg to kick him in the backside. "I still want to scratch up that pretty face of yours for that."

He glanced down at her leg, rolling his eyes at the ass-kick and lifted one hand to shove her down to her rear again. Vanity was something he fell prone to. He said nothing, just kept walking as she grumbled, rubbing her backside cheek with her hand and glaring after him. "Methusaiiii." She hissed, crinkling her nose.
