"How dare you!" Screamed one man at another, holding a woman behind him. "You're sick! How dare you harem such a beautiful woman!"

The other man looked like he'd been beaten within an inch of his life. One eye was swollen shut completely, bruises and scratches covering his face. Missing teeth were evident when he tried to claim his innocence.

The woman on the other hand held her ripped dress in both hands trying to keep herself covered, makeup running down her face. Her sobs had attracted quite the crowd. The two men that were holding up the badly beaten man turned to a crowd that was also beginning to proclaim the "innocent man' before a large fight broke out between the groups. Everyone seemed to forget about the girl and her 'defender" slipped away.

Another brief afternoon lunch in the museum courtyard (where the fountains danced in artistic patterns and columns of cobalt and crimson metal rose from a blanket of richly fertilized grass) had concluded with a brisk walk back to the downtown shop where Sophie was employed. Moderately high-heeled shoes beat against the stone walkways and the sway of her step made the water bottle in her cotton cloth shoulder bag gurgle a bit without much rhythm as she strolled through the square. From two blocks away she had began to hear the commotion. Even with traders and shoppers haggling over wares, it wasn't very common for the voices of the crowd to rise with such volume. Turning the corner to the scene where groups of people were gathering, Sophie was surprised to see a good twenty people already joining in the fray.

The entanglement caused her to pause mid-step and reconsider this path back to the upscale boutique. While clouded blues were widened and pupils dilating with interest a hard, jarring motion caught her off balance. The mirrored locket that hug from a beaded chain around her neck shot forward and then popped against her chest like a pendulum being thrown into an awkward swing. Ankles threatened to buckle and loose the burden of the weight they carried, but were able to shift and twist well enough to keep the girl upright.

During the short length of time where her eyes were diverted, a good ten or fifteen more people had joined in the argument ahead. Sophie balked at the display. Teeth pressed against her bottom lip in concern and she began to wheel away from the crowded street. This was going to make her late back to the shop, but she wasn't going to risk strolling through the brawl for the sake of mere minutes. Another group of men rushed passed her and Sophie turned to head back the way she had come.

A shadow moved on the roof. Blood-red eyes gleamed, watching the street below. A casual flick of two fingers, and the shouting became screaming. Punches flew, jaws were broken, weapons were drawn, and soon the streets were filled with the sounds of the full-scale riot. Watchmen rushed in, trying to restore order. Another flick, and the ones sworn to uphold the law, jumped in and started violating every one, from disturbing the peace to assault with intent to kill to involuntary manslaughter. Pandemonium gave way to havoc. The shadow smirked.

"The target is two blocks down, and is now unguarded. You know what to do, Commander."

"Yes Lady Hess."

Katerrina stepped to the edge of the roof. The rage and hatred filled her, charged her, made her stronger than ever before. And the stronger she got, the worse the rioting got, until the streets ran red. And while the blood flowed, and the neighborhood's attention was on the fighting, a squad of men rushed down the deserted streets, kicked in a particular door, dragged brunette twins from their hiding place in their modest room, and threw them in a waiting transport. It would take days for their neighbors to realize what happened to the quiet girls.

"The targets have been acquired, Lady Hess."

"Excellent. Stand by for further orders."

Katerrina tucked her comm in her utility belt, and withdrew another one. She spoke into it with barely-contained manaical glee.

"Operation complete, Master."
