It was a restless hour as she tossed and turned, dreams becoming nightmares and a replay of the memories she'd rather forget. Back in the desert land that was nothing more then a second circle of hell in Danica's opinion.
The said a woman shouldn't be a sniper, they had said a lot of things about a woman being out on the field but never once had it stopped Danica. The other soldiers strangely enough supported her, knew there was some raw talent there that she possessed.
"You're a crazy one, girl. You think you can handle this?" "As much as I can, Wicked, as much as I can."
A grin was shot over in his direction as she nudged the man, Danger's mind held hostage as the dream replayed out that night that she had lost everything. Or at least it all began to fall apart for her.
The codenames were claimed as she eased the sniper rifle into place.
"You go on, I've got this." "You sure about that, sis?" "As sure as I'll ever be..."
A dismissive wave and a kiss blown to her older brother as he took off running. William "Wicked" Wyls. Crazy as crazy could be and lethal with any weapon.
She sighted and watched over him through the sniper rifle. Something didn't feel right.
Call it women's intuition, call it instinct that left her hitting the communicator button on her ear piece. Far too late as a misplaced foot fall triggered a landmine and she was powerless as she watched her brother die before her eyes.
"Will!"
She was screaming out his name before the scream became a sound of fury, eyes narrowing to thin slits. She'd burn this whole fxcking town down and every last bastard in it if it was the last thing she did.....she'd take them all down and make them pay for that pain in her heart. Her twin brother....lost to her.

"NOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
The dream broke as she was shaking and snapping up out of bed, her breath coming in quick gasps as she smoothed a hand along her face, swiped the tears from her eyes and from her face.
Her surroundings came into focus and it was only then that she remembered that she hadn't been alone.
Looking to her side she breathed out a sigh of relief to find the bed empty save for herself.
He was still there though, the jacket spoke volumes of his presence.
Shaking she steeled her nerves, fingers clutching at the dog tags she wore. Her brother's dogtags. The only piece of him left she had to hold on to....the only part of family that remained.
Another shake of head as she listened to the running water from the shower, hands smoothing through the wickedly sharp strands of her hair. Getting herself together and steeling her nerves. She'd be damned if anyone ever saw her weak.
She'd be damned if she let any in her heart again. After all....that only led to betrayal and disappointment. In the end they never stayed.
It didn't matter that they shared an honest moment. It didn't matter at all. She wasn't one of those girls that got all wishy washy and soft over any man with a handsome face and seemed to have brains as much as brawn and made an amazing lover.
Just business and pleasure. That's all it was. All it should be. It was safer that way.
Danger knew she was playing with fire, was becoming reckless....but reckless never left her heart to get involved in the consequences.
In the end she was alone.
Perhaps it was better that way. She accepted it, taking always that road that led her past the point of any return.
