Lorelie sits on the porch of the inn, one of Jaydell's favorite places. After a moment she speaks. "I'm not sure what you want me to do. I have things to do back home." She tilts her head, a small breeze blowing out her long violet hair. "I will try not to tell all your friends about your past, but it is hard. I know I should forgive you. I can not. I hope that you can settle what you did back home to my sister. I hope she has more mercy on you than I ever did. With that terrible death Renna served you, I hope you can rest. I hope you can leave me be. It is forbidden to leave your body somewhere besides Rien, so I could not bury you here. I'm sorry. Be at peace, Jaydell." Lorelie sets a small book, a sketcher, beneath the steps. Jaydell had never gone anywhere without it. It is close to having her body laid near this place as Lorelie can provide. She stands and walks back inside with a feeling of peace.

Lorelie walks outside quietly. The last few weeks had been so hard on her. Her wide violet eyes are haunted and she seems to have lost a lot of weight from her already thin frame. she snatches up the sketcher she had placed out by the porch previously, its warped pages faded by sun and rain. She goes inside the empty inn and without any hesitation, places it into the hearth, watching the flames lick hungrily at the pages. "You go to hell...You can't hurt me anymore." She says softly. She turns her back on the fire and walks away, a satisfied look on her face.

Lorelie sat on the ground just inside the entrance to the boneyard. Her violet eyes scanned the many stones, dazed and unfocused in the weak light of the dawn. The Story Teller would not go any further...could not go any further. Even in dealing with so much death and grieving in her life, in her occupation, it was hard for her to deal with her own grief. "Oh, Aiden..." She said softly, almost as if her friend sat beside her. He had stood in danger for her and had lost his life for it. Due to her own injuries, she hadn't even witnessed it. She'd only caught the faintest glimpse of his gory body on its way to the boneyard. What a terrible closure. "I know I need to thank you for what you did...but did you have to go' I miss you." Her violet eyes glittered as they filled with tears. "Even when I first came to this place, when we first met...you were kind to me. You helped me. You didn't judge me for what I was there to do. I wish you were still here. I wish we'd gotten to laugh together more. I don't have nearly enough memories of you to last me." She wipes at her eyes with the back of her hand, her voice trembling. "I didn't get to thank you.I didn't even get to say goodbye." She sighed, then stayed silent a few long moments, getting her tears to stop and standing. "I'll never forget you or all that you did for me, Ai. You were my very good friend. My loyal friend. And I miss you. I hope you are at peace, and I hope your passing was an easy one. Whatever lies before you in the afterlife, let it be good. Let it be peaceful." Lorelie turned, then, having said all she needed to. She walked away, back to the Inn, silent and thoughtful.

Toby had come with her, the walk from the Inn long and silent. He'd remained at her side while she sat at the entrance of the old graveyard, a silent and comforting presence as she said her goodbyes to her friend.

As she walked away, she paused near the road for him as he stepped up to Aiden's marker for his own quiet farewell. Toby was rarely this somber, but the circumstances demanded it.

"I'm not very good with words...though it's only you and I keeping score. I didn't have the chance to know you long, and that's a sad thing. What I do know, is that my beloved called you friend. That alone put you on a very high place for me."

"They say only the good die young. In this case, that is truth - you fell doing something truly good. You threw yourself in the path of harm, to protect and save a friend. You saved my beloved. I can't offer any higher praise than that."

Toby paused as the wind stirred his mousy brown hair. "How does that old saying go' Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life-for a friend. You laid down your life for my Lorelie....if there's a God up there that you believe in, or that I do, may you be blessed for what you did. And may it, and you, never be forgotten."

He knelt and placed something on the top surface of Aiden's marker. A little white crystal, something he'd brought back from one of his faraway journeys. It glowed slightly as it fused to the stone, and then the glow became a soft little beacon. A faint whispering sound, like a wordless note being sung softly forever, emanated from the stone.

Toby smiled, quietly. Then he nodded and turned away, walking to meet up with Lorelie at the road's edge.
