Brenna Reanne

A soft breeze, a rustle of skirts. With a gentle step, the Barefoot Wonder makes her way down the damp cobblestones and is soon lost within the early evening's hustle and bustle.

It was when the city of Rhy'Din came to life - the streets filling with demons, elves....demons. It was a place that any budding author could only dream of, and it soon became apparent to Brenna that anything she'd be able to think of would just waltz past her. Such was the case with the three-legged hippo-toad that slithered in front of her bare toes. With a soft squeal, she doubled back, clutching the strap of the pack closer on a small shoulder. Wide hazel eyes just stared at the mud colored thing, watching it ooze off into the crowd.

"Hey, watch it, lady!" A yell sounded from her back. Brenna, again jumped, and skittered away, whipping around. Her gaze fell to a dirty raggamuffin boy, readjusting the splotch of wool he called a hat. Everything on his person was dirt colored - face, hands, clothes, shoes. It was a wonder he wasn't a walking pile of sod.

"Apologies. Fresh meat," she muttered, pointing to herself and indicating her newness to the realm. That same hand lifted and flicked wandering black strands from her gaze.

"Yeah, well, jus' watch where ya be goin' next time, no brain!" As he turned to scamper away, she dug deep in the bag, a hand curling around a piece of paper.

"Hey, wait!" She called, clamping down hard on the kid's shoulder and roughly jerking him so they were facing each other. She knelt, a close-lipped smile crawling upon deep purple tiers.

"Lady, ya be hurtin' me!" The kid struggled against her hold, but she slipped a few fingers into his shirtcollar and held on, keeping him in place.

"You have a name, child?"

"Uh....I be Igneus. M-muh friends be callin' me Iggy," she stuttered, still squirming. Brenna gave him a hard shake and he gnawed on his dirty lip.

"Well, Iggy, I'm new to this sort of thing, yes" Alright. ....settle down, child, I'm not gonna kill you or something. Eh?" She tries her hand at reassurance with another sweet smiling of those purple lips. "Alright....you know this city, correct?"

"Y-yeah, I be knowin' it," Iggy stammered again, lifting a dirty hand to scratch an equally dirty nose.

"Well that's good! Because you....are going to lead me," holding up the paper close enough for him to read, "here." In bold and block writing, the only thing it said was RED DRAGON INN. "That good?"

"Whate'er ya say, ma'am," he tipped his hat shakily and began peering around the streets, leaning to see around people. Brenna stood, and not much taller, really didn't get to see much. Her fingers left the boy's collar, settling for scooping up one of his grimy hands. "A'righ'....this way."

He began his trot down the road, and Brenna followed, her hand clutching onto his. And in about ten minutes, he'd bowed her in through the Inn's entrance and sprinted away. Brenna stood in the doorway for a moment, replacing the piece of paper with a sigh.
