Katerrina Hess

Katerrina crouched on a warehouse roof. This part of the city crawled with vermin. Rodents too. The weak sun wasn't enough to brighten the streets. The snow didn't make the alleys beautiful. This was where the forgotten went. Soon they all would be remembered.

She leaped to the ground. One small hand touched the filthy street. Her eyes swam with a red haze as she drove the anger, fear, and desperation of those around her into the cold ground. The ground shook. Cracks and fissures raced along the street. Those too slow to move were swallowed up, screaming as they fell. Panic spread. Bodies were crushed in the stampede to escape.

The quake lasted five minutes. The longest five minutes the forgotten knew. Katerrina stood and looked at the damage. Her eyes still were tinged red from the power surge. People screamed in the streets. One old building leaned on its foundation. A satisfied smirk was on her lips as she leaped up to the rooftops. Havoc spread as she left in a blur of speed.
