December 18th, 2016 - Dawn Break

It was the break of dawn that sent pigments of light assaulting her irises through the thin flesh of lids. Pain radiated through every fiber of her being, and yet knowledge of how that came to be was nothing but blank space in her memory. Though her breath was heated, her inhale was cold from the snow that enveloped her slumbering petite frame.

What happened"

Figments of memory struck chords in her soul and sent shivers down her spine that had nothing to do with the snowy bed she was curled up within.

The voice....He called for me...Who was he"....I remember walking out of Tomes then...

It took a moment for her frost coated lashes to peel back, pale blue eyes that were glazed over from pain and unconsciousness as her mind fogged. A soft sound left her groggy throat, her hand slowly moving among the snowdrifts from a momentary blizzard she vaguely remembered. Was any of it real"

"Fae?" She croaked, her throat dry as could be as she ran a sandpaper tongue over pallid lips. "Fae." Silence. There was no response from her hostile counterpart, her mind as clear as it possibly could be in her battered state. "What happened?" She whispered, to no one other than herself. Fingers curled against the chill of the snow surrounding her as she forced her body to roll onto her back. Wincing at the fact that she'd slept on her messenger bag, she slowly rubbed the angled, sore hip bone.

Exhaustion overwhelmed her body, her hands lifting and trembling as she tried to collect her strength to heal herself. Magic fizzed across her fingers, but faded like sparkler in the rain before it went out. She didn't have enough energy reserve to heal herself. Confusion battered the walls of her mind like a jackhammer. Or was that simply the headache"

Fighting her own memory that was otherwise like an elephant, she couldn't put the pieces and fragments together. Clips of images assaulted her mind, but none of them made sense. Dark clouds...A throne....A man slumbering... She tried to swallow but it stuck in her throat. She faintly remembered trying to rise the sleeping man on the throne, but....why' Why did she try to rise him' She groaned, turning her head from side to side as another spike of pain shot through her temples with the effort of forcing her memory.

Deciding it was best to mend her body before putting together the fragments of her mind, she fought her own body to stand. Hands clutched her chest as vertigo washed over her, dragging a whimper from her lips as her stomach churned. Slow, wavering breaths caused steam to billow between the parts of pale lips and she hissed through her teeth when she forced her legs to move. They trembled like jello, a hitch in the snow causing her to collapse to her knees before she used a trash bin nearby to gain her bearings once more.

What had her heart thumping in her chest like a drum was the Shadar-Kai's silence in her head, the only hint of her presence was the dark energy that she could always feel coiling in her belly. Her head turned, sending damp opalescent hair jingling from the frost collecting them together much like icicles. Her eyes rolled shut as the corners of her mouth turned down, that honeydew whisper crackling through the air. "Fae....what did you do"..."

And the struggle to get home to her small cottage in the Glen began. ———————————— (This segment is in correspondence with this.)
