Well today I woke up early to help Sunil around the restaurant. Business has been booming lately and we've been working like dogs. Sunil is a real slave driver. After helping him this morning I ran messages for his customers. I traveled all the way to Dockside for this one shady character. He was really attractive though, handsome in a rugged sort of way. He asked me on a date for tomorrow night. I happily said yes. He looks to be about my age, but you never can tell at this point. He brings back memories...good or bad I can't determine.

I explored the Red Dragon Inn today. It was full, but I didn't know anyone so I left. I traveled to the Twilight Isle instead. I wish I knew magic like these people. There was this one duo that fought, the girl had dual personalities it seemed and the guy was ....well he had many voices as it were. As a matter of fact I think they both had dual personalities. It was the girl that interested me most. Her name was Kathreen...or Darling, one of them. She looked like she had some interesting magical abilities.

I decided to ask the official where I could learn this magic. She was very polite though very busy. She suggested just jumping in. I'm willing to try once I have some base knowledge. After discussing with her and an older looking gentleman I left. I helped Sunil clean up, performed my nightly ritual and went to bed.

Sunil had me working like a slave again. I was running messages left right and center. Some customers can be so demanding and rude though. Some times I'm tempted to give them a good solid beating and send them on their way with my complaints. On the other hand, I find many young gentlemen who I can flirt with. Sunil often accuses me of acting fifteen instead of twenty. I just laugh at him.

I went on that date tonight. The ruggedly handsome David took me out for dinner and dancing. He moved on me pretty fast, especially during the dance. I told him I didn't mind a little physical affection, but I wasn't read to jump in bed with him. Well after that he became distant and flirted with the other woman. Go figure. I'll stick to being a flirt; I give up on dating.

Saturday July 1st 2006

Today I cleaned the entire restaurant, went grocery shopping, covered for one of our assistant cooks who had a family emergency and ran messages later in the evening. Later I went to the RhyDin Inn and chatted with a dragon called Icer. She was very polite and I enjoyed speaking with her.

Have you ever been visited by a ghost' Because I have. Just today in fact. It was rather an odd experience. You see, I was working in the kitchen because Sunil was sick, when this purple mist floated by. I looked at it and try to fan it off. I thought it came from the radish stew. The mist then formed the image of a young woman. A ghost.

Half the kitchen ran away screaming and scared most of the customers too. Well I told that ghost to find some other place to haunt because I was running a business. I wasn't ready to lose Sunil's trust because of a ghost. The silly thing just laughed at me and said she'd be back later. Well business settled with both crew and customers returning.

At the end of the day though that purple mist came back. "What do you want?" I asked as politely as I could.

"The question here is what do you want?"

I was in no mood. "I want you to leave the establishment. Frankly, I don't have any ghosts that should be haunting me, you're not in the least familiar and I'm rather tired."

"To be frank, I just want some company."

"Oh, well in that case help me clean up...I'm assuming you can move things, and we can chat a bit."

We got to talking while she helped me clean in her paranormal way. She asked if I was happy with my employment. I said a little more excitement would be great and I'd like to move out from my brothers care. Then she asked if I was organized, could I work under pressure, could I make split-second decisions, did I know anything about transporting goods, could I communicate well, did I know anything about firearms? I said yes to all except the last. Sunil wouldn't let me near a gun. She was delighted though and told me to put together a resume and some references. I asked her what the job was.

"Shipments Manager, for Drachen Walde Industries."

To tell the truth, I don't know what I've just got myself into.

What a wonderful day! I had the day off so I wandered around RhyDin. I visited the Drachen Walde Industries and the docks. I'm not a seafaring person though so I kept wandering. I visited the market place for lunch and to buy a long spear for dueling. The vendor was cranky though and the weapon was way overpriced.

Instead I visited the Inn. I got bored very fast until a certain gentleman came by. His name was Rory O'Corr and he had one of the thickest, nicest accents I've ever heard, but I could decipher it pretty well. He was quite the gentleman. He even kissed my hand and told me it was a 'Plaeashuhre' to meet me. He fixed up some great ice tea and I enjoyed talking to him. He smoked though, and even if I don't mind Sunil might. He's been a little touchy about those things since he quit five years ago. Though his attitude has improved lately.

Anyway, I really enjoyed going to the Inn this night.

September 1st, 2006

Today was a huge workday. My last day of work for Sunil. I was helping him fix our roof then I took some kids out for a hike. They belong to one of our more reputable patrons. I stopped by the Inn this evening and met the most amazing woman. Jewell "Empress" Ravenlock. Very energetic, even for a fae, and so much fun to talk to.

We discussed men almost immediately. Apparently it's her job to know all the 'who's' in the Inn. That doesn't surprise me, the woman is certainly outgoing. I told her that once you get me started I could be a loose cannon. She was really excited about that. It was hard to remember all the names that she was rattling off though. Let me think ....Panther, Brian, Charlotte, Tara and ....I think another was Amthy.

She had never been to Earth and so I told her all about it. Earth was so natural to me and I loved explaining the place to her. Then we got into politics. Things started to get confusing then. When she left I felt happy to meet her but sad she had to leave.

I eventually found this real shadowy character, called Sothe. He was rather bored and I have this strange affinity for guys who hide in a corner. You know, a challenge to pull them out. So I started up a conversation. He had long black hair and longed for some excitement like a fight. We got to talking and he brought up the fact of a ball. He was rather interested in my love life. It was kind of funny. So apparently there's this costume ball happening on the first of some month or other in the Great Hall. I'll have to ask Jewell about it.

Well when Sothe left I cooked some stuff up at the kitchen being rather bored. The barkeep mentioned there was chocolate but I was out of change to pay for it. After snagging a kabob I exited through the back door into the alley.

What a mistake that was. I ran into what looked like a predator going after a helpless girl. The guy was massive. So ran in and pretended to be best friends with the girl and drag her inside. I thought she was in trouble but apparently I make poor judgment calls. I don't know what was up with this Tommy guy but he gave me the creeps. It was tough pulling off the act of best friend. I used the term dollface because I didn't know her name. Well the guy moved quickly and was behind Rosie before I could pull her out of the way. I shifted so I could see him. Well the thug left after being even more inappropriate such as pulling her close and pinching her butt before he left. I felt relieved when he was gone and the two of us introduced ourselves. Her name is Rosie. I waited with her until her boyfriend got there. While waiting she invited me to the masquerade that she was catering. I agreed and we decided I'd go as her because we were of the same build and had the same hair. We parted ways and I went home feeling happy with three new friends.

September 2nd, 2006

Well I went shopping all day today! I got new dress pants, some cords, a new shirt, a better bodice dagger, a sweater and some new flowers for my bedroom. After spending time in the market I went out with Sunil. He treated me to dinner and we talked about the past.

After my eventful day I decided to stop by the Inn again. I'm starting to love spending my time there. The bartender Gav welcomed me warmly and then to my surprise Rosie was there. She was sleeping on the couch so I woke her up by blowing in her ear. It annoyed her a little but I don't think she cared much. I sat beside her and we chatted for a little while. I was also introduced to her brother, Brian, and his girlfriend Jen.

One excitement after another I guess. I grabbed a root beer at the Inn then went out to the back alley. It was full of smoke and debris. I heard a lot of commotion further towards the docks. Following the noise I came upon collapsed buildings, panicky people and a lot of trouble. Well I dug in right away and got an opening. The debris collapsed a couple of times, and once on me. But I just kept on digging for whoever was under there. I knew I was bleeding at some point but never cared. We dug and someone else found them at the same time Brian and I did. It was chaos. It was messy. But we pulled through.

I never found out what happened, but now I'm partially blind and want to sleep.

I've got a patch on my eye now. Some minor surgery and a couple weeks with it on and my eye should be good as new ? sort of. I'll need to put some special drops in it each morning and evening. So with my fashionable red patch I went to the Inn today. It sounded like love heaven and I felt lonely for once. If only I had someone to flirt with I'd be happy. I talked to Empress Jewell for a while, she asked about the patch and guessed I was trying to be a pirate. I played along, being the talented liar I am. She didn't like the eye-patch idea but I don't think she ever figured out it was for a health reason.

She was shocked by the fact that I actually didn't want to catch a man. I just want to flirt. She pointed her beau out to me, lean looking guy. Not my type at all, but to each their own right'

Well Wyheree didn't know what flirting was, so Jewell and I tried to explain it to her. Then this very attractive man came in and Jewell decided to show her and I would point out tips to Wyh. Well Jewell dominated the flirting scene, and it was interesting to watch. The man had a sense of humor, to be sure. We chatted after Wyh called the man over to introduce him to Mercy. Mostly about my no-drinking policy and men. Anyway, I left early. I was too tired with the meds.

September 12th, 2006

Tonight was the festivities at the Great Hall. I played the part of Rosie O'Dell and enjoyed myself. I served, cleaned, and cooked of course. I also met a rather nice gentleman by the name of Antonio Falconne. Nothing notable besides pleasurable company.

On the other hand, last night Sunil took me out for my birthday dinner. It was a magnificent restaurant and then he took me to a new dance club. I met many people and had the time of my life. Twenty-one now, exciting huh?

I went to the Inn today. It was really dull at first, but the proprietor was nice. Empress Jewell came in and she was beaten up in the face. Apparently she accidentally kicked a girl because she was surprised and then the girl crashed a bottle over her head. Well this man began to contradict her and call her all sorts of nasty things. He said she was a coward. Wyh and I stood up for our friend; the man is certainly not on my nice list. He hasn't incurred my complete dislike yet, so there is hope for him. Three strikes and you're out though right?

I've been busy lately. A lot. Working at Drachen Walde Industries, catering with the Deli and then helping out at the Inn. I've met some boys that also work at the Deli, such as Dirk. He's an okay guy, gave this one girl attitude while in uniform though. I also met this half-vampire half-werewolf Ira vonRichter. A sweet guy, I find myself really comfortable with him. Tonight we spent some more time together, and I found myself kissing me. Surprising, knowing my history with men and my opinion on relationships.

On another, more concerned note, I'm worried about Sunil. He's been real stressed with the restaurant lately. He lost a cook, they moved out of RhyDin, and the waitresses haven't been all that reliable lately. I want to help but he's told me to worry about my own life. And he tells me to get married. Again. I yelled at him before I left tonight, telling him that if he should stop pressuring me and get hitched himself.

On the night of November 11th, while I was helping Rosie with a catering job I received a phone call, the caller idea was my brothers private line.

"Hey Bro. I'm on a job right now, could you call back la-"

"Rina! Your brother was in an accident. He's at the OMD Private Clinic. They say he's in very critical condition." It was Cookie, the top chef.

"Okay, I'll be right there."

I panicked in hysteria and ran to the private hospital. It was a mile away, but seemed to take a lifetime getting there. I ran in, told the secretary who I was and who I needed to see. They rushed me to the emergency room, trying to soothe and calm me while at the same time filling me in.

"Your brother was hit head on by a fast moving vehicle while crossing the street. He's suffered internal injuring, a spinal cord injury, multiple fractures and breaks and a major concussion. We have him stabilized and are operating on him right now." I stood looking into the emergency room through a small glass window.

I couldn't recognize him. Blood and bones. I trembled and collapsed on the floor, breathing hysterically. Not my brother. Not him. Oh please Lord, not him. I prayed and prayed. The nurses sat me on a stiff chair while I waited. And waited. An agonizing wait. It was unbearable.

Finally the doctor came out. His face didn't say anything. "I have no more tears to cry, so just give me the hard truth."

He sat down beside me and gave me a long hard look. "Worst case scenario, he doesn't make it through the night." I nodded numbly. "Best case scenario, he's a paraplegic with a slim chance of recovery through intensive, daily care and massages, and partially deaf. The most likely scenario is half way between. Paraplegic for life and completely deaf."

I nodded and muttered a soft thank you. He rose to leave but I grabbed his sleeve. "Can I be with him now?" The doctor nodded and led me to my brother.

Seeing him like that made me collapse at his bedside and stroke his hand. Two hours later I made calls and arrangements from that room. The entire night I would be at his side.

Did his hand just move" No. No I keep imagining that it does. Wait! It moved again. I watched, and waited. Then I heard a noise " it was Sunil! I leaned closer to him, watching his eyes open. He tried to say something so I pressed a finger across his lips. "Shhh. It's okay. You're going to be fine." A hard thing to say when near tears.

It was Tuesday afternoon when they kicked me out. I had barely left his side since Saturday night. He said that he had to get some rest without me hovering over him; they also needed to perform another operation. I didn't realize it till I left, but I was hungry, very hungry. And really tired too. So I went home and tried to sleep. It was a very fitful nap . When I woke up I tried to visit him again. They wouldn't let me come in because he was undergoing the operation. By the end of the week we would know his permanent status. I had a couple of hours to kill before he was out of the hospital, so I decided to take a brief visit at the Red Dragon Inn. Maybe it would help me relax and I could get some food.

I ran into Ira. He was concerned when he saw me in my present state. That's all I can really remember. I left as soon as the clock told me too. I needed to make sure Sunil was all right.
