The scent in the kitchen is fading fast between the breads, the bleaches, the sweeping, the cooking and the...magnificence of the legendary stew rumbling in it's chains but it is there, faint: slaad. They had been here and they had gone. Some clues remain. A cloak pin with elaborate designs lay on its side near a foot of the oven. A glass marble, a recent gift, left unattended rolled near the door. Several burnt pans of sweet-yeast rolls found and thrown out from the ovens, some of them cooked but gone stale as no one had remembered to put them out.
The scent of slaad stunk its way out the kitchen to the back alley door.
