Inside the Onyx Lotus of WestEnd

"Mistress do you believe, he will actually go through with it?"

"My Garet, you know when we are alone you needn't address me as such."

The man known simply as Garet nodded softly, as the woman known as Myllyanna Sliver patted a spot next to her as she sat at the foot of her bed, brushing her hair in a most intricate and quite methodical manner.

Garet did as he was bade, and sat next to Myllyanna. Smiling to her he then took that brush gently from her hand, shifting himself more so her as he did so. And then he began to brush her hair with the utmost of care.

Tonight they were not Myllanna Sliver, ruler of the Onyx Lotus and her hand Garet Jax.

Instead they were Myllyanna and Garet, a man and woman sharing a most intimate of evenings, among many other things.

One of those things happened to be concern in relation to a series of events that Myllyanna had been tipped off to, courtesy of her 'Table of Fate' a relic that had proven quite useful to the Onyx Lotus in the past. Especially when events surrounded a particular group of destined stars aligned with what Myllyanna called, Suikoden.

"You brush wonderfully, do you know that' Have you been practicing" If that answer is yes, then with whom and where?"

The soft chuckle from Garet actually drew a faint smile from Myllyanna. Very much a rarity when it came to the Mistress of ShinKa, yet a rarity she rather enjoyed. The soft kiss placed upon her head caused that faint smile to grow ever the more so.

"Stop that, silly boy."

Garet grinned, and continued to brush her soft hair. "I have been practicing with a most amazing woman, actually. She happens to work far too hard for her own good in my opinion. But, I may be a bit biased when it comes to her. As to the where, I'd have to admit in this very room a few nights a week. Although if I had it my own way, it would be every night and so very far away from this place that she would have no time but to relax more."

Now it was Myllyanna's turn to grin, "She is most appreciative of your sentiments. More than you may ever know, Garet. But you know that cannot happen currently."

"I know Myllyanna. But, I can hope, can't I?"

"You can Garet, and I will never ask you not to. Just know the threads of fate still dictate there is much work to be done before we can truly 'relax', but despite that....I so very much enjoy this time with you."

"I know Myllyanna, and I feel the same."

Garet continued to brush softly, as he kissed her head once more briefly.

"Still, do you think he will go though with it?"

"Garet you saw the signs, you read the relic map. Things are happening, and when coupled with the things that had happened before, he is unable to weather the coming storm in his current state."

"What of the the others, Myllyanna" Can't this be circumvented somehow" Why not tell them what?s to come, and give them that edge?"

"Garet you know we can't do that, the consequences would be disastrous. We have to let this progress naturally and let is all play out and then we can take action."

"But with so many players, Myllyanna....How will we be able to—"

"That my dear Garet is not up to us unfortunately. We may only watch, and wait for our time to act and then when we do act, we do so....most decisively."

"I know, and I'm sorry."

"Sorry for what, Garet' Are you truly sorry for wanting to help those whom you love" Those whom you are bound to by the ties of destiny' Your family' No, do not be sorry. Never be sorry for that. Just be ready, Garet. Be ready."

"I will make sure to, Myllyanna."

"Of that my Garet, I have no doubt."

Leaning back to Garet more so, Myllyanna lifted her head back and planted a kiss on the man's jaw. A moment later she righted herself once more.

"What does somewhat concern me is the smith, Garet."

"In regards to Brian seeking his aid?"

"Exactly....You see the smith is quite the variable, and he rides a rather unsteady line in regards to fate. His line it seems is a rather constant in the way of change. He is pinnacle, and yet he is hardly a concern all the while. A complete state of flux, always moving, always shifting. Much like our Mister Ravenlock, and that family you all share."

"Do you believe he would aid, Brian' And if he does then what? They can't recreate what Jacyn had, what we now keep here under your careful watch. The breaking was sealed with the blood of Jacyn himself, and hand of Brian....Literally. The pact has been abolished. All that is left of Darkin's Gauntlet will never see the light of day again, thanks to you."

"You sound as if I were the only one who did anything, Garet..."

"I know better than that, Myllyanna."

"No, Brian Ravenlock cannot wield Darkin's Gauntlet, and the same is said of any other soul. You are right in what you say, that relics day has long since past and thankfully so. No one will ever re-create what Jacyn Ravenlock had wrought on this real, and many others.

However, desperation is a powerful motivator and a rather clouded one at that. One does not always think clearly, when they are too close to the issues at hand. It is my hope that Brian Ravenlock selects his path carefully, because if he does not....He stands to lose far more than he would ever dream possible."

"Then we watch carefully, and wait for our time."

"That is what we are to do, Garet. Now my dear, let us stoke this fire you and I. This night is far from over, and there's much more for us to do.?
