James was born an albino to parents Lord Dale, and Martha DeBruce. Being an albino he was cast out of his royal family. Raised by the servants, he grew up to be a handsome, but odd looking young man. At an early age he displayed extraordinary psychic powers.

The servants fled with him to a small city somewhere in the lands of Rhydin at about the age of 19. There he was a small time theif, and hung out at teh local tavern picking pockets, and stealing horses. It was there that he met Dalakard. Dalakard caught James trying to steal his horse, and when he saw the boys extreme potential he took him in as a apprentice instead of killing him on the spot. It was with Dalakard that James began to learn how to expand on his powers, and use them with more control. As well as learnign these things, James became a pawn in Dalakard's true passion....Slaving.

All the while trying to learn the so called art of slave trading from dalakard James yearned for more. He found it in Jasmine, Dalakard's most prized slave. The two fell in love, and yearned to escape the iron fist of Dalakard.

One night while playing in the woods the two stumbled upon Castle LeBeau and the vampires that lived in it. It was here that James met Culain LeBeau. He saw in Culain great inner strength and asked Culain to help show him how to bring out the deep inner powers within himself in exchange for James' services. Culain agreed, and the two became somewhat of friends.

For many months James came to the castle Lebeau and trained with Culain and his family. He met many plesant people, especially Fluer, Vincent, Lord Kail, and Daimon. Everynight after he had said his goodbyes to his new found friends he returnde to Dalakard, and his harsh ways of teaching.

One night after spending the evening at castle Lebeau James returned to Dalakard's palace to find Jasmine nowhere to be seen. He asked about her whereabouts and Dalakard replied that she had fled him during the day, and that he knew about Jasmine and James' love affair. He scolded James for being young and foolish, and told him he was better off without her. James then denounced his loyalty to his Lord, and fled out into the dark night in search of his love

James wandered for several days until he stumbled upon an old brown church hidden deep within the woods far fom Rhydin. He walked in and there knelling at the alter Athame in hand was Jasmine. James rushed to her and the two embraced. He smiled to her and told her all would be well, but his words were spoken too soon

During James' reunion with his love, in walked Dalakard and two of his loyal servants. He smiled wickedly at the two as he approached them on the alter. Dalakard demanded that Jasmine return home with him and continue to serve him as his slave. James cut the man short of his words as he unsheathed his sword and prepared to strike his former Lord, and teacher. Dalakard lifted his katana in response and the two began to battle. The battle was long and fierce. James fought with all his rage and might but it did not seem to be enough to strike down the powerful mage Dalakard. Just as james began to get the upper hand Jasmine could take no more, plunging the athame deep into her chest. James had turned to see her just in time to be caught full in the chest by Dalakard. James staggered backwards and fell on the alter with his love. Dalakard walked over to the two dying lovers and scoffed at them for thier foolishness. Jasmine died very quickly, but James was still alive long enough to hear out his words. James spat on Dalakard as he mocked their love. Dalakard laughed at the fallen James and layed upon him this curse... "You may die now, but I promise you, young fool, that in three nights you will live again. Live again without another feeling of human affection. Forever shall you walk the night living off your fellow man. This I promise to you o' disloyal child!" James looked at him and cursed him for ruining his life, and then Dalakard left, taking with him the body of Jasmine. James lie there bleeding on the alter for awhile longer until he could take the pain no longer. He picked up the blood stained athame that his love had drove deep within' her heart and did the same. He gasped and quickly slipped off into a void of darkness.

Three nights had passed and no one came to claim the body of James DeBruce. Three minutes before the stroke of midnight the cross above the alter fell and shattered, and the sound of someone gasping for air filled the abandoned church. Slowly James arose his clothes soaked in blood and the athame missing from the hole in his chest. He looked down at his chest and the wound slowly closed. Dalakard's curse proved to be true....he was alive, and he knew that he was a vampire.

James wandered the woods for several nights slaying poor innocent people who just happened to stumble his way. He had become that of which Dalakard spoke. This continued for several weeks until one night he found himself at the door step of his friend Culain LeBeau. Little did he know that the gods must of been smiling on him, because this was the prayer he'd been asking for

Fluer came to the door and helped him in the door, taking him to Culain. Culain knew what had happened to the poor lad and took him in as his own, as another child. James that night became James DeBruce LeBeau one of the clan LeBeau, and a Toreador. For a year Culain helped James understand just what he became and taught him how to handle it. How to feed, but not kill. How to use his pwers, and how to keep in touch with his mortal side. Culain was the first real father to James, and James swore his new life to Culain for his help and kindness.
