This is Marvin J Thompson with the Rhy'din Evening News. I'm standing outside the Red Dragon Inn which was the scene of a deadly riot last night. The riot has been linked to the escalating violence that has been gripping Rhy'din since the proposal of Propsition 37.

The camera pans to the watch as they are carting away a handful of bodies and medics on hand to help the wounded.

This begs the question *why*" What was the purpose of rallying the people outside a place known to harbor magical beings including the Splendiferous Kairee and the head cat, Panther.

The scene switches to images from the riot at the inn where the cameras focus on one man talking and then running as the fight starts.

These images were obtained last night from an anonymous source. The man shown here inciting this riot is Rhydin Star Reporter Darien Fenner. As you can see from these few images we have obtained, he is seen here inciting the crowd to storm the Inn, then running as that spark sets off what is best described as an inferno of hate.

The scene shifts back to the reporter.

Mr. Fenner is best known for his expos" on the being known as Kos and bringing to light the hostile intentions of a race that had been portrayed as friendly. He is also known for his piece on the Obstetrics department at Riverview Clinic. In light of his professional resum", the question becomes *Why*"

Why would a good man, a credit to journalism, throw his career away to usher in some of the worse violence Rhy'din has seen since the Zombie Invasion.

There was a grim look on the reporters face. This is Marvin J Thompson with the Rhydin Evening News.

(Crossposted with Proposition 37 - The First in a set of pieces based on last nights riot. ::cackles evilly:: Enjoy!)

People of Rhydin, It seems my esteemed colleague wants you to believe that The Riot at the Red Dragon Inn was intended to be a peaceful protest. She states that the accusation are false, that the magic users started this.

A Video clip rolls showing Darien Fenner on the steps of the Red Dragon Inn with a blowhorn.

"Did ya know, ladies and gents, that this inn is also notorious for housin' magic criminals?" He asked loudly, hop-stepping up a few of the steps to be a foot or two above the mob.

At Darien's question, gasps of shock and astonishment combine with cries calling for the heads of the high and mighty.

The Aussie conveniently ignores the one hassling him and continues to address the crowd, "Ladies and Gents, Boys and Girls, I come 'eah representin' Diedra Vall and the Prop 37 campaign committee. Unfortunately, Ms. Vall couldn't be 'eah tonight, but I been given free rein to speak on 'er behalf.

"Someone got a way to record this madness?"

The mood was concerned, to begin with. At the word "criminals," the first hints of ugliness creep in.

They would have you believe that he was not intentionally inflaming the crowd to violence knowing that it would only take a spark to set off an inferno. Video does not lie.

The video pans to the two patrons, female, obviously mercenaries, standing in front of the door flanked by Guido, the bouncer.

Yes, there were armed patrons. But, what my esteemed colleague doesn't tell you was there there were couples inside the inn enjoying a quiet drink. There were children inside the inn with adults they knew. There was a sporting event happening in the basement as is scheduled every week. For an inn that houses so-called Magical Criminals, seems like there were a lot of family-friendly activities occurring.

A video pans in again and stops... A stocky butcher shouts something incoherent and waves what looks very like a cleaver.

Oh so the crowd was peaceful. At this moment the patrons have not drawn any weapons. So who's the aggressors"

The video pans to the woman, though armed, who is addressing Mr. Fenner.

She turned back to Darien, "Yo, Dingbat. I ain't a magic user....You are harassing me and my companion ALSO not a magic user!"

"Freedom of speech, luv. This's public property, and we got just as much a right to be 'eah as anyone else." He retorted smartly to the woman with a dull sneer.

"Your rights end where mine begin. What right do you to be harassing the very people you claim to be protecting?"

Very telling statement in that....There were two people addressing Mr. Fenner that were not magic-user, and thus, not subject to the law should it pass...

By now the video of this travesty has been circulated to the population as a whole.

The video then changes to Teas and Tomes in the morning...

But what they failed to tell you is that there has been more rioting. More supporters of Proposition 37 threatening people. This time I witnessed it personally. I was assaulted by this crowd and there were no attacks by the magic users....Bobby, roll tape.

Location: Teas and Tomes

What was that, outside the window" Was it a torch' No, it wasn't a torch...It was several torches, held by about twenty men, who were all at the window, just...Glaring at Icer and the others like hungry zombies that couldn't get inside-

He saw the torches and a smile appeared on his lips, "Hold that thought." He went to the door with pen and paper in his hand and slipped out, "A word my good folks!"

Said mob just Glared at Marvin, before one piped up- 'What are you doing hanging with riffraff like that"' -Then another- 'Your a respectable reporter! Do you WANT to be killed"' -Then a third- 'Yeah, I got a word. KILL THE BEASTS!' -That incited a bunch of cheering from the mob-

"Really now, you allowed A respectable reporter to lead your follows into a death trap last night."

'Darien is a great man!' 'He knows what he's doing!' 'A trap" It was the mages who trapped us' 'That dragon tried to EAT MY SON!' -Needless to say...They werent getting calm anytime soon.-

"Really he does know what he's doing, by bringing you into the very trap you are blaming now. And the dragon did not try to eat your son....Care to revise your statement before the lawyers have a field day with the slander lawsuits?"

'She did! Ask her yourself! I saw her with her jaws around my baby' -Was shouted among the many other shouts of 'beast' 'mage' and other things that were more insulting that the former. And then came another voice over the crowd, directed at Icer- 'It was your magic that corrupted everyones minds!' -This one sounded like a sage of some sort. Interesting...A magic user against magic users"-

"Right now I see a group of people threatening to burn down the livelihood of an old man and his granddaughter. Innocent folks in this madness, will make for great news, and certainly make you out to be the great heroes. And again, I have proof the dragon did no such thing, Lies and deception....A pity. Oh and you have one of them amongst you, Hypocrites to boot."

The blue dragon remained calm, moving toward the door, and outside, beside the reporter.

-A huff, lost among the crowd, from a woman carrying a child that did indeed bear teeth marks. But, from Icer" Doubtful. Oh, but then she seemed to catch sight of Icer out of the corner of her eye, and in such a way that one would catch Deja Vu from last night....She pointed- 'SHE'LL KILL US ALL!'

"Oh please, woman do calm yourself....So far the only violent ones are you."

The dragon rumbled, "had I even wanted.., wouldn't ye all be dead by now?" The words were calmly, staring at the crowd with the torches.

"I can see the headlines now, MERA supports blind hysteria and threatens innocent lives."

'Where you there last night"' 'Did you see what those mages made everyone do"' -Then, all went quiet to Icer's words, and they all just stared before..- 'See! She admits it!'

And at that moment, a young adult dragon popped into view outside of the teashop, or more like hovering above it, before the grip Nexus had on her let go. And dropped her amidst the others, the group of magic Haters. She was wide eyed, and obviously frightened.

"I saw everything, Including who cast the first stone as it were. Wasn't the supernatural beings, I can assure you. As of now the transcript of last nights events is being forwarded to every agency in the land and beyond."

"I admit nothing, you all are being blindly led by a fool, I was there last night, and I saw the man run after your fellows were being trampled.?

-And there came the shouting- 'They're attacking us!' -Was said as one fell from the sky among them. Cowardly they seemed, as many of them ran off in different directions. Though, half remained. The ones that looked like actual fighters. And so came...The rock throwing. One flying right for Marvin. Poor Gaia...Who knew what they were doing to the girl in the middle of the crowd"-

The blue dragon, seeing the young one in the crowd, peacefully, she moved forward, once again toward the crowd.

The rock struck Marvin and he smirked, "Can someone say Lawsuit?"

Watching a rock bounce off her snout, the dragon just looked toward the man that threw it, and deeper into the crowd, not stepping on anyone either.

The reporter was not moving from the door.

-The crowd pressed together, blocking Icer, and waving torches at her as if warding off a beast of darkness- 'Get back you beast!'

"Smile, you are on Candid Camera, Folks."

"I will nae get back," The dragon's snout lowered till it was nearly in one of the men's faces, no fangs shown.

Gaia gave a soft whimper, and tried to get away, and out of the crowd. "Leave me be..." she grumbled, and bit her lip as one of the flying stones hit her.

-The man Icer was in the face of...Well...He gave a whimper, before dropping his torch and running, screaming like a madman-

"Let's see dragon tries to save young, but the murderous crowd refused to let her pass.

Ignoring the waving torches, even as one singed her right wing, the dragon pressed further, simply to reach her grandchild.

Another muttered curse from the young one, She was trapped, and she couldn't get out....

-It seemed the mob was just as afraid of Icer as they were hateful. Whenever she got close enough...Someone else would run away-

"City Watch, no where to be found. Comments from the Governor's office to follow."

"Fools the whole lot of ye," The dragon continued on, stepping over someone that had fallen.

-A particularly loud scream came from the man that Icer stepped over, as one might do if about to get gored by a hideous beast-

Marvin J Thompson: "Oh grow a set my good man, it's not like she stepped on your or something."

Not a single drop of blood shed, well, maybe a little of hers, bleeding slightly after a sharp rock bounced against her paw.

-And...Oh dear, did someone just trip, and get trampled by the running crowd?-

"Near riot averted outside of Teas and Tomes, Casualities reported due to trampling."

"Now it's definately deja vu," The dragon said shaking her head as she eyed the now still body on the ground.

The young one had tried to move past some one, only to be kicked, and have a torch shoved in her face, the person screaming at her. She stumbled back, only to get pushed by a fleeing person.

-Nobody else seemed to notice, and the crowd was shrinking as everyone was turning to run from the Big Bad Bus-

A tug of her wing yet again ignored, the dragon continued wading deeper into the now waning crowd, moving closer toward Gaia.

He flipped open a cellphone, Karen, I need a crew at Teas and Tomes. Pre-empt any program coming on for a Breaking Newscast."

Elbowed, pushed, shoved, A yelp and a wince as the young one was kicked once more, and her foot stomped on.

-By the time Marvin's crew would get here, there probably wouldnt be very much left in the way of a mob. Even now, only about ten were left. Guess where they were"-

He smirked, "Get your sorry arse into the chair, we have another riot to report."

Not a drop of magic spilled, not even her breath weapon, snorting as another torch singed her other wing, a bit of a grin, her head lowering to the weilder.

-This one seemed a bit more braver...Or just dumb. He didnt run, but stared Icer down-

The dragon simply grinned, showing her fangs a moment to the dumb, or brave one, not sure yet which, before stepping over him as well.

-Must be dumb, for he was frozen in fear at the sight of those fangs- 'Dont eat me!'

The news crew zoomed up and started setting up with amazing efficiency. He slipped an ear piece in and waved off makeup, he wanted the city to see the rock strike on him.

"Why would I do that.., hmm?" The dragon rumble from behind the man as she finally caught up with her grandchild, moving close to shield her from who or whatever was left of the mob.

-Oh boy, there went another rock right for a camera. The camera man leaned how to duck a long time ago. And, with Icer arriving...There went the rest of the crowd.

There was a growl as some one waved a torch at the young one, "Get back....Don't, I just want to get out of here- Grandma!" she yelped, just as one tried to burn her with it.

-But, as they ran, one stopped to turn back. It sounded like that 'sage'- 'That witch needs to burn in hell!'

Snorting as the dragon eyed the torch, shielding her grandchild, she opened her jaws.., and simply.., blew it out, no ice, no magic, but an oh so sweet smile to the man. "Now return home to your kin."

"Are we on, Rocky?" Just in time to catch the rock throw, "Jesu, This is Marvin J Thompson on location at Teas and Tomes which is the scene of another deadly riot at the hands of Supporters of Proposition 37. As you can see the crowd has already dispersed before too much damage could occur thanks to the efforts of Icer Shimmerscale." The dragon couldn't quite save everyone, four to five bodies laying still around from where they'd been trampled, ironically from the crowd itself. "Come on Gaia," The dragon was nudging her grandchild toward the teashop, ignoring again a few flying rocks that bounced harmlessly off her scales.

"At this time casualities have been limited to one person who was trampled as the rioters panicked at the sight of Rhy'din's most famous blue dragon. Icer showed amazing restraint as she moved into the crowd to save a hatchling that had been unceremoniously dropped by the Nexus into the unruly crowd. Ahh, There has been an update, Karen, The death count stands at Appoximately 4 to 5. We'll get an more accurate total as the events unfold. The question stands now, where is the City Watch in all this" Why hasn't the Governor done anything to stop the wave of violence?"

"Rhy'din Evening News will keep you posted with all the late breaking events in the Madness of Proposition 37 as they occur. This is Marvin J Thompson with the Evening News."

-Oh but wait, was it over" No' No...Who would come up behind Marvin, than a man in tie-die clothing, he flashes a ring and the peace sign in psychadelic colors appears just as the broadcast stops And then the man ran off...Was that Captain Planet playing in the background?-

And now the watch rolls up...
