Most would argue that Matthew was not prepared for the dangers and unpredictability of this world called Rhy'Din. Those who allow themselves to believe that story are those who don't know the least about him. While he was currently only thirteen years old, he had all the skills of a legend, given his background. He does not know who his parents were, as he was sent to train as a warrior monk at the sacred Cangzhen Temple before he met them. Here at the temple, he was raised as a warrior. He was taught how to use his full mind, to unlock the mental powers that we all possess. With them, amazing feats could be accomplished. From telekineses to summoning storms, many aspects of this seemingly set-in-stone world could be manipulated. Had everything gone as planned, he would still be training there today, but it would seem as though that peaceful life couldn't be achieved in this world. Enraged at the grandmaster for forever depriving him of his true potential, a master eagle-style martial artist named Ying went rogue and gathered all of his power and managed to burn the temple to the ground. Ying thought that they were all dead, but Matthew had survived. Unfortunately, Matthew was the only one that survived, as far as he knew. With his mind smudged black with hatred for the ominpotent Ying, Matthew's views shifted greatly. He used his powers for evil practices: black magic and necromancy. He studied at his new home, the only remaining structure of the Cangzhen Temple, the tower of honor. Being the only surviving member, he took the proprietary documents and deeds, and declared himself the owner of the newly named Woe Spire. He gathered any supplies he would need to learn to be as powerful as Ying, so that he could get revenge for ruining his well-meant life. After learning necromancy, he dove into other studies, such as alchemy. He used potions that he made as a source of magic, and he had put together an eerie assortment of poisons as well. With his training at Cangzhen, the use of black magic, the the ability to perform necromantic acts such as bringing back the dead and controlling lost souls, AND the ability to make strong and efficient potions, he was finally ready to kill that fool that had lost control, and let his anger get the best of him. Now Matthew realized....HE had lost control. HE had let his anger overwhelm him to the point that he learned practices forbidden at the temple he used to call home. HE was just like Ying. The thought of becoming that evil monster Ying was a strange nightmarish thought indeed. However, after rethinking the turn he had taken in his life, Matthew decided that his destiny was not sealed in Cangzhen.

He was now a necromancer, and he liked it.
