It was the 5th lunar eclipse of the Dark Years, meaning the trolls would be coming through Xenon at any given time of the day. King Leoris, however, had a plan.

Come forth!, he cried, and we shall see their fall today!

The army he assembled was massive — at least 250,000 men — and would surround the city of Xenon, awaiting the arrival of the trolls. They waited for hours, the eclipse almost over. The time had almost come when the soldiers and citizens alike were to give up hope of seeing them that day, when suddenly, a scout screeches:

Troll at the southeast gate!

Suddenly, the 12 foot creature, bearing a steel-reinforced halberd in each hand, came charging at the soldiers. The soldiers blasted the beast with ballistas and poison arrows alike. The beast made it 4 steps in the city, and fell. The citizens cheered in triumph, but they started back for their positions: There would be more, and they were prepared.

...But they weren't. The king had predicted that the creatures were stupid, acting solely on impulse, on natural survival skills. However, this was not the case. There was a scout, a small creature unseen that allowed for the trolls to know that they needed to gather. Instead of the normal 7 that the city would see, there were 150. The battle would rage on for 2 weeks straight, until the town's resources ran out. The king, who had previously been sworn out of the battle, grabbed 2 bastard swords and ran in.

There are only 25 left, he thought, and there is I and over 7000 left. We can finish this now!

He noticed another, higher quality bastard sword on the ground, and taking a knee, he chucked one of the swords through the throat of a troll, grabbing the other one. He rolled it in his hand while one came up behind him and tried to take his knees out. The roll caused him to fight longer; with the sneak attack deflected, he fought the beast head on, the fight ending in the brute's decapitation. He fought and fought, unleashing his highest rage, and slaying another 16 trolls by himself. There was one left — Grog Ba'Kork The Warlord — that had claimed Leoris's father in years past.

You foul beast....you are MINE!!!

He begins swinging his swords at the beast, walking him back into the centre of the town, not thinking of anything except killing the last of the troll plague that had haunted Xenon for years. Until...

The Warlord knew he had no chance of winning against Leoris at this point. Both of his halberds were broke, his armor pierced, and his body wounded. So his back had barrels of gunpowder on them, expecting that Leoris would corner him in the town, where ALL of the warriors would surround him. He kneeled before Leoris, speaking in trollish tounge, before looking at Leoris with a wicked tooth, and in clear English, spoke:

"You....have proven your strength....yet you speak of the ignorance of trolls....let my actions speak for all of us that the human race is scum....BEGONE!!"

Leoris crossed his swords, and sliced the head of the Warlord clean off....but his victory was short lived. The barrels of gunpowder ignited from a flint trap inside of them, igniting a fire. Before Leoris could speak, the entire town had surrounded him.....walking into an explosion that would have been seen for miles around.

There was no winner....There was no loser....only blood and rubble, seen for hundreds of yards. The ruins of Xenon layed there for almost 100 years...

And we shall rebuild.
