She felt like a horrible friend. It was a negative feeling that was weighing her down and she needed to rectify it, she literally couldn't handle any more negativity. Therefore, she was making good on her promise to visit Lenika for lunch.

She refused all of Iona's help as she prepared for the little outing; she wanted to make the lunch all on her own! Of course, that could possibly prove disastrous but Jewell avoided any end-of-the-world scenarios by making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. No cooking involved! She also cut up some cheese and grabbed a package of crackers, add to that a bottle of some light fae wine, and it looked like she was going on a date! Plates and glasses were all packed into a basket with the food before she left the house.

It was a quick walk into the city proper and Jewell only made one or two wrong turns in getting to Lenika's job. She had been to the store before but it had been a while now and Jewell was easily distracted lately. However, because she had given herself a few extra minutes to get to her destination on time, she stepped into the store just around noon-ish. She did a quick once-over of the place, always loving to look at the different wares! At the moment she was mainly looking for her friend, though.

Unfortunately for Jewell, she had walked into a mess. Boxes were being packed, some of the wares were broken, and the place seemed to be in a random mess. Lenika stepped out from the back with a frown and dust of her hands on a rag, but she paused when she saw Jewell. A faint smile touched her face as she asked, "Jewell, what a pleasant surprise. What are you doing here?"

It took Lenika a moment to look around and realize how horrible everything must look, but she honestly did not care other than getting Jewell to a somewhat better and more reasonable location. "Please excuse the mess. I'm going to be changing the place and everything in it at some point. Do you want to go somewhere cleaner?"

Brows went up as she saw her friend and the mess she stood amidst. This was unexpected and worried her some. She held up the basket for Leni to see, "Finally making good on my promise for lunch' And way overdue, I must say."

"Uhh," looking around, "it doesn't really matter either way for me. Mess doesn't bother me, I have seven kids." Bit of a lame joke that she could only grin about. Lenika said she was only changing everything in the store but Jewell was a little concerned that, perhaps, that wasn't the case. "Do you need help doing anything in here?"

Lenika laughed; it was light and was not exactly full of her usual life, but there was a smile as her gaze landed on the basket. She leaned her head to the side as she seemed to study Jewell for the moment before speaking, "Did you cook" And"I'm glad you came by."

Somehow, during the beginning of the visit, Lenika had found herself leaning against a counter but she soon straightened and looked around once more. "We could just go outside. There are benches around and it gives us some fresh air." She did not really wait for Jewell to give an okay as she started toward the backdoor and a wave for Jewell to follow as she repeated, "Just don't mind the mess as we walk through"help" Unless you want to vent and throw things then all is good."

It was true. The further they went into the little shop and towards the backdoor then the messier it became. Broken wares that had no hope in being salvaged, but Lenika simply let her shoes crunch over them as she walked.

"Cook?" She squeaked out, "Oh mother of nature, no!" Well and truly laughing at the very idea, "We would both be retching our brains out later if I had tried, most likely. Though, I have been thinking of taking lessons. I wanted to learn how to make Italian food" I think that's like...pizza and pasta."

The notion of eating outdoors was a good one for the Fae and she made no objections while following Lenika towards the back. She stepped carefully over the broken pieces on the floor; she did not want to do further damage to any of the wares even thought it was clear that most were irreparable. "I understand throwing things is a good after-meal exercise," she commented, the tiniest frown touching her lips at seeing all the damage Lenika had done to the items she put so much time into.

"I didn't cook, but I think I managed to put together a half-way decent meal without turning an oven or stove on."

Lenika opened the backdoor for Jewell and allowed her to exit first before following. There was a light laugh again as she heard her friend's words about cooking. She said with a faint smile and some measure of amusement in her tone, "I'm sure you could learn to be a great cook. I used to do it all the time when I used to tend bar."

She took a deep breath and released it slowly as she took in the nature around them. One hand lifted and motioned to a bench seated near a little pond and some flowers. "Let's sit over there. You still like water, don't you?"

There was no hurry as Lenika moved to settle on the bench. "Sometimes I think I make everything just for the day that I can throw it. I may get out of the business anyway, but if you would like to throw some pots and dishes with me after eating then I would welcome the company." She shifted in her seated position as she smiled a little warmer at Jewell at her attempt at cooking, "I'm glad you tried and I bet the meal will be great. I've always had faith in you, Jewell. Tell me, how are you?"

Jewell's lips formed a little 'o' at seeing the pond. "Like water, Lenika" Some things will never change, chief among those is my love for water."

She settled on the bench beside her friend, placing the basket on the ground. As Lenika spoke, and Jewell absolutely listened, she unpacked the little lunch she had prepared. Out came the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cheese, crackers, grapes that Iona had snuck in when Jewell wasn't looking, the glasses and the light wine to go in them.

"Wahlah! I hope you don't mind the sandwiches; they're not very fancy, I guess I've been living with little kids for too long." She laughed a little, it was probably true! "Breaking things for dessert sounds like an excellent way to pass the time to me." She had evidently forgotten plates but napkins were in abundance and could be used instead!

"What do you think you'd like to do for work instead?"

She half filled both glasses, learning not to put too much in to prevent spills! She really was a total mom sometimes. "I'm...doing okay. Well, half the time." She offered Len a smile and shrug, "Getting by pretty much, you know" Keeping really busy has helped, plotting revenge, that kind of stuff. I figure, I have a lot of life left to live...I have to figure out how to enjoy living it again. Having lunch with friends is part of the twelve step program I designed."

She held up the wrapped sandwiches, "Do you like grape or strawberry better?"

Lenika laughed with some amusement as she announced, "I would prefer grape, please, and peanut butter and jelly is a refreshing change."

She did not answer the question about alternative work, but nodded her head as if answering a silent question. Her lips curved into a smile and she tucked some annoying strands of hair behind her ear and her gaze drifted briefly to the pond near them then back to Jewell as she said, "Getting by through whatever means is how one can do it. Keeping busy and plotting helps, I'm sure." She tilted her head to the side slightly and took on a curious look, "Twelve step program' What are your other steps?"

As Jewell set about handing out food and the napkins, Lenika finally shrugged and answered her earlier question, "I don't really know what I'd do for work. I've thought about learning how to fight. Issy said she would help and Trixie tried helping before. Maybe I'll be a reporter." She had a little grin as she looked to her hand then back up to Jewell. "I've had some tell me my life is more open now and I'm free to do whatever I want. Maybe I'll be a traveler and sail away from here."

She handed the grape sandwich over before taking a bite of the strawberry, bobbing her head a little as she chewed. These days, it was a miracle if she remembered to eat or actually did so when she did remember. The problem was, she rarely felt like eating. Now, in good company, food didn't seem so bad and she actually enjoyed the taste.

"Mmm..." she tried to think of all the steps as she had really made them up on a whim. "One was to be around my friends more because I know they're trying to help me and I don't have to think about how alone I feel when I'm surrounded. It helps. Two was spend more time at the clubhouse, or was that three" Hang out with my kids more, spend more time in the West End helping the Sisters." That wasn't twelve but all they really came down to was resuming a "normal"—for Jewell, at least—lifestyle again and keeping herself busy.

"Fighting is immensely satisfying, Len. Even if nothing comes of it, I think just training with the Sisters would make you feel good...the discipline, the workouts. It makes your whole body feel good and it's nice to know that you can protect yourself too." A bite of sandwich mixed with the wine made her wrinkle her nose, it wasn't the most appealing combination. She grinned anyways, more at what Lenika said than at her own failure to bring a cohesive lunch. "You are probably more free and open now...so why not do something you'd like to, something untried and new" Though, if you're going to sail away you better come back," a warning wag of her finger accompanied that.

"If I didn't have the kids I'd probably sail away...wander. Though, I think I'd always end up back here. RhyDin is home now and aren't all roads supposed to lead there eventually?"
