He fell from the portal with a thud; quite unlike his usual graceful landings. Aolis T'Karon Miilaethorn had been forsaken, banished, and sent to this new world. Yet another lost soul to haunt the streets of this place, whatever it was called.

Standing, dusting himself off, and gathering what little pride he could muster, the once Prince of the Maeverhim Tribe of elves was now reduced to this.

Long hair dusty from the fall, Aolis ran slender, long fingers through it to comb as he shifted those dark eyes about. He seemed to have landed in a glen of some kind, and the sight of large trees in abundance was reassuring. At least his father had not sent him to a desert place. He had a chance to fit in here, find a home.

Long, graceful strides carried the elven male from what he would later learn was the Southern Glenn into the town of Rhydin. He knew it was called thus because of the sign on the way in. What struck him as odd was the population numbers:

Humans: Not Many Vampires: Too Many Fae and Elven: Just Enough Others: Plenty!

Wonderful. With a sigh, his soft boots carried him onwards and inwards, finding eventually, and by mistake, the Marketplace. Here he was captivated and almost happy, as his kind were traders by profession. Yes, Aolis could make a home here.

Aolis wandered about town, thankful for the small purse his father saw to giving him before sending him away. After all, it was not really his fault the deal went bad, he was an apprentice trader, at best. His brother really should have been able to...

Well, that was the past and Aolis did not want to think of that. He was lost here, stuck here, he might as well make the best of it. Besides, it seemed there were other elves here, by the sign on the way into town.

The scent of roasting winter vegetables made his mouth water and his stomach cramp with hunger. His nose led his feet to the Red Dragon, where upon entering, Aolis was met with cheerful greeting and served promptly.

He ate, drank a bit of something called Badsider Brew (most enjoyable) and a bit drunkenly, inquired into lodgings. Happily surprised that there was room available, Aolis secured a room for the week. He'd stay here until he found work, another source of income, or figured out just what he was going to do here.

Wow. Quite a place he'd landed in. And really...would somebody PLEASE tell him what was up with all the damn lace and paper cut out hearts?

He'd choked on some hot thing he had fished out of the bowl of what the lovely young lady had referred to as "pretzels"; quite interesting sticks and twists of hard bread, salted and toasty. Yum, but that red thing...a...red hot' He had nearly asphyxiated on the thing.

Couples everywhere, in love, in lust, and in the steamiest arguments Aolis had seen in some time. It was almost like they were infected with Spring Fever, but...there was still snow around. Hmm.

Aolis was curious about all he saw here in his new home. It was about time to make some aquaintances.

He awoke to the soft sounds of hatchlings. Hungry hatchlings. He smiled, the night before coming back to him. He had been renting a bed from the charming couple, Icer and Aurther Shimmerscale. They had been finagled into it by that captivating Sera.

Sera. He smiled, just thinking about her. He still missed that hair tie that her ferret had confiscated, but he would replace it today. Sitting up, running a hand through his hair, Aolis thought about this upcoming holiday that Aurther had been so kind to inform him about.

Well, no time like the present to go shopping! Off to the marketplace. He had to find the perfect gift for Sera!

Aolis was stumped. He'd been thinking and shopping and looking for days. He needed help on this one. What to get her?
