MERINGIA

A fairly large continent (based rather obviously on a map of the Czech Republic), separated into thirteen countries and one city state. Each country has political ties or enmities with every other country - think of it as Europe in the 1500s or 1600s.

The Holy Seat of The Church of the Goddess - the only city state in Meringia, and the only truly neutral ground on the entire continent.

Ruler - The Dalai, Innocent VI

Political Allegiances - As the center of the religious world, Gelre is theoretically on speaking terms with every country in Meringia. However, as it is entirely enclosed within Pomerania, it's political agenda tends to be dictated by the ruler of that country. Also, any country that is known to be harboring proponents of the "new" religious thinking is automatically considered an enemy of Gelre and the Church.
