"I should have woken you up first at least an hour ago to help you get ready." Jo smiled and moved out from the bathroom to get his coat and a bowl of cereal.

"Don't be ridiculous!" she scoffed, hooking fingers into the straps of a bronze pair of heels. She hopped off the ladder, landing crouched like a cat on three out of four. Straightening, she dusted off her dress and then slid her feet daintily into the heels. Fingers curled into the fabric and she swept after Jo. Her first priority, however, was coffee. Zipping around him, she breathed a sigh of relief. "Coffee!!" Coffeecoffeecoffee.

Jo had picked through all the cereals in the pantry for the one with the most sugar and poured himself a nice big bowl. He made a face at the coffee and just ate the cereal spoonful by spoonful till the bowl was empty. "There's no way you look like that a few minutes after you woke up. No way."

She grabbed her travel mug out of the drying rack and filled it with coffee. "Ahhhh," breathing in the delectable kona brew. Closes her eyes, fully enjoying the aromatic experience. Blinks, looking over her shoulder at him. "What are you talking about?" Glances down, then back up at him.

"We just woke up. And you look like you had a team a people puttin' ya together fer this little date." Jo put the bowl in the sink and rinsed it out, then stepped over to where his boots and coat were by the door.

Still sipping her coffee, she trailed in his wake. "I look like I always do?" she declared uncertainly, not entirely sure if that was really the case. She always looked the same to herself. Stepping behind him, she exchanged her coffee to reach around and grab her own jacket- a dark brown pea coat.

"Which is spectacular." His hand found hers as soon as she stepped out into the hallway with him. "This is why I'm amazed. I always thought you just woke up lookin' that good."

A faint blush crept across her face as he took her hand in his. Gives it a light squeeze, tugging him toward her to steal a very brief, chaste kiss. "And so it's been confirmed I wake up 'lookin' that good'?" she teased, using quotations for the part she repeated from his statement.

"Yes. You always look that good." Jo stopped his steps down to the street to press a kiss against her lips, punctuating his point.

Duci almost ran into him when he stopped, not paying attention because she was too busy watching his butt. "Oof-mmmmm," into the kiss, closing her eyes by pure instinct. "You're my favorite," she purred dreamily. Licks her lips, staring up at him half-dazed. "So where are we getting this tree from?"

"Think all we hafta do is go ta tha Marketplace." Jo nodded and they were outside and greeted with a much warmer day than he had expected. He shed the coat and slung it over his shoulder.

"Really?" sounding surprised. Duci was content in the coat, snuggled up in it as she tucked one hand in a pocket. The other remained firmly clasped with Jo's. "How big do we wanna go' 4 ft' 5 ft' Are we gonna get a bushy one or a taaaalll and lean one?"

"Bushy and tall. And I'd like ta go as tall as your ceilings." Jo nodded as he led through the sidestreets and alleys until they were at the fountain that was the center of the Marketplace. "I think they're about 9 feet tall. We should get an 8 foot tree." Jo grinned wide. "I kinda love Christmas."

Gasps at his declaration. "8 feet tall?" she exclaimed, eyes wide. "I had no idea you were so into the Yule spirit." Squeezes his hand.

"Before my parents split my mom always used ta have all these ornaments." Jo had lit a cigarette while they walked past fountains that ran with water and started finding the various vendors of Christmas tree down the seasonal section of the Marketplace. "A bunch of em. All not the traditional kind either. They were little statues a Santa or my favorite comic book superheroes and we used to decorate tha tree over a couple a days. Then her mom and their huge Italian family come over fer Christmas dinner and they wouldn't leave tha dinner table until 11 at night."

She curled into him, hanging onto his every word. "That sounds so wonderful....My parents had no family, so it was just us..." Umber looked away, taking in the specialties for the season as they passed vendors. We could get ornaments while we're here, too....And-" a pause, looking up to him so she could see his expression. "We can pick a special one that's just for us." Her face is lit up like a Christmas tree, her smile genuine and full of meaning as she bit into her lip tentatively.

"Like?" Jo stopped in front of a tree vendor that had his trees open and set into the ground standing upright, instead of tilted against a wall and already covered in netting.

"I don't know....We'll have to look around..." Her hand went slack, slipping from his, so she could wander through the trees. "These trees are so much more...full than I remember from home..." Fingers trailed along the pine needles as she passed them by.

"If you find the right grower they will be." Jo walked through the rows and brought his fingers over the different consistency in the pine needles. "How about a wreath fer yer door?"

"Vegetation was sparse in Gyozedelem." She explained with a shrug of her shoulders before peeking around the spruce at Jochin. "A wreath?" echoing, contemplating that idea. "Do you think we should?"

"I do. We gotta get lights fer tha tree too." He whistled a man over. "Yeah, this one is good." He took it out from the stack and shook it out so all the branches were as far spread as they could be. Then knocked the stump on the ground a few times to shake out the loose needles. "This one'll do boss." He handed it to the man. "Yer gonna go ta tha Luks Condos with it."

"Lights" Why lights?" She watched him shake out the tree in mild curiosity, never having seen someone who took this job with such seriousness.

"Because that's what ya do during Christmas doll." Jo went over to the vendor and paid for the tree. "I dunno. That's just what we did back on Earth."

Squints at him. "That's not a very good reason.." Dubiously watching the exchange. "I think I have a few ornaments stored in a box....I took them with me when I joined the fleet..." Umber looked back over the other trees, a faraway look on her face.

"We can always buy more." It was lucky for them that the same vendor was also selling wreaths. "I've still got some money left over from when I was workin'."

Quietly," I know." Turns her head and gives Jochin a look. "Don't be silly. You got the tree, I'll get the decorations....but you're gonna have to guide me, I've never decorated for Christmas aside from the basics!" The basics being a tree, ornaments, garland, and stockings.

"You can buy the ornaments and decorations if ya want ta doll." Jo tapped ash from his cigarette and stood over where one of the racks held some wreaths. "I mean, s'not like 'm broke. But tha money might run out eventually."

Tsks, shrugging her shoulders as she came up behind him and wrapped her arms around his middle. Squishes her cheek against his broad shoulders. "I know." Squeezes, peeking around him and at the wreaths. "How big are you thinking?"

"Big enough to fit on your door." Which Jo was getting more and more familiar with. "THen we gotta put a picture of me and you in tha middle. And really get tha gossip rags talkin'. Though by RHy'din standards you shoulda popped out yer first kid by now."

Grins, contemplating a photo op. "A picture of us?" Waggles her brow. "What kinda picture are we talking here?" Laughs, untangling her arms from his waist so she could move to his side. One arm remained curved around his back. "*I* think it's a very awesome and amazing idea, thank you." Pointedly avoids the topic or mini-me's. "Rhy'din is full of crazies...I think we're the only normal ones."

"Something nice. But not too posed. Ya know" Ya think anyone's got one?" Jo held her arms in against his side and perused a wreath that would be big enough for her door. "Something that is us. But isn't one of those professional shots."

Tilts her head side to side, trying to think of any photos they had together. "Hmm....I'm not even sure if we've ever had a photo taken together....Have we?" She was no longer looking at Jochin nor the wreath, umber instead zoning in on the vendor. It was like a light bulb went off. "Why don't we ask someone to take a photo of us right now?" Turning her head to look back up at him.

"That sounds like a great idea. But you have to let me step behind you." Jo switched positions with her then took his phone out of his pocket and stopped a random passerby. "Excuse me miss, you think you can take a picture of me and my girlfriend?" The woman nodded, Jo set his phone to the camera and showed it to her. "All you have to do is hit this big red button, okay?"

Foot stomp. "What's wrong with me being behind you!" Aside from being completely hidden. Shakes her head, but leans back against him anyway. Shines a dazzling smile for the passerby, already feeling giddy about having a photo taken of them. Why was she nervous"

Jo just offered one of his best smiles and let the woman click the picture. When she did she handed it to them and Jo took a look at it and nodded. The light of the Marketplace behind them created a nice backdrop.

Quickly scrambles for the camera. "Let me See, let me see!" Up on her tippy toes to get a good look at the photo. "Oooh, this was a good spot to take a photo." Nods her approval, swiveling around to peck his cheek. "Thank you."

Jo sent a wave to the woman who was already walking off. "Thank you!" He called. Then pocketed his phone. "We'll hafta get it printed out. But I really like it." He settled on a wreath and picked it up, then shook out the loose needles. "How about this one?"

"Thank you!" belatedly after the woman who snapped the photo. Turns back to said wreath, squinting and holding out a thumb. A little sliver of tongue stuck out between her lips. "Mmm, I think it's perfect. It will almost fully encompass the length of the door! And maybe about half the height...!" plus, it also helped there were no odds and ends branches poking out.

"This too boss?" He asked the vendor and the man nodded, beginning to place it in net. "I'll carry it though." When it was sufficiently covered in the netting it was handed back to Jo. "See, now we've got some of yer decorations already."

"We're not done yet?" she joked, fingering the netting of the wreath fondly. "I think I've got red and gold ribbon at the penthouse already." The wreath felt a little bare. "Will we be putting ornaments in the wreath, too?"

"We can decorate it too." He leaned over and put a kiss on her cheek. "And we'll let people talk." He grinned wide and put it under his shoulder then stepped away from the vendor. "You never said what ya wanted fer Christmas."

Her whole face warmed from his kiss, spreading all the way down to her toes. "You're so devious!" Takes a step back when he moves, shrugging her shoulders again as her eyes wandered across the vendors set-up in the nearby vicinity. "All I want for Christmas is..." Her seeking came full circle, gazing up at him with a hint of a mischievous smile, "You."

"You've got that already doll. You won't hafta ask Santa." He dipped a small nod and a smile at her. Then grinned wider. "Because I'm gonna get ya somethin' awesome."

"That almost sounds dangerous..." she remarked, looking up at him with lifted brows. "Do I get a hint?"

He shook his head and grinned. "Not even in tha least. S'gonna be a total surprise."

Pouts. "Awww." Sticks her tongue out at him. "What about you? What do you want for Yule?"

"I want tha Gangstar ta ferget I ever existed." Jo teased and moved from that vendor further into the Marketplace. "You have anywhere else you want ta shop sweetie?"

Furrows her brows and purses her lips at him with one hand on her hip. "Seriously' I'm not even sure that's something I am capable of accomplishing.." At his inquiry, she looks around. "Maybe ornaments" Or a place with those lights you were talking about?"

"Tha only place I know that has lights would be a hardware store. And I have no idea where to find one in Rhy'din. Ornaments I'm sure are in the seasonal district." Jo pointed where the avenue led away from the trees.

"What's a hardware store?" she asked while following his finger down the avenue. Squeezes his hand. "We can start with ornaments, then! Do you use tinsel, too' And what about a little choo-choo train?"

"Somewhere where they sell screws and all things you might need for your house." Jo put the cigarette in the corner of his mouth and took a drag. "A train would be awesome. We should get a really intricate one too. I had one as a kid but it was just a simple one that went in a circle."

"That's so weird...Where I'm from, robots made everything, so you would just order it and it would be delivered." Smiles up at him. "I've never had a train, but I saw one in a magazine....What kind of intricate do you want' I know there's a toy store somewhere in the marketplace.."

"Like, the kind that runs around the tree, then up over your condo and everywhere. Ours just ran around the tree." Jo reaffirmed and reassured. There was a few vendors that were carts, those sold decorations and the occasional hand crafted ornament. He stopped at one so they could look. "And we gotta have lots of egg nog."

"That sounds like a lot of track.....Ooh, shiny!" Breaking away from him to move toward a vendor with barrels of handcrafted, not-one-the-same ornaments. After a moment, she held up a glittery orb that resembled Earth. It glinted in the sunlight. It was perfect. Turns around to show it to Jo, chattering excitedly. "Look, Jo! It's your Terra Nova!"

"It is." Jo made a little bit of a face as he looked at it and turned the globe over. "See there?" Jo pointed to the long and diagonal coast of the second largest continent. "That is where I used ta live."

Moves around to get a good look at the part he's pointing out. Traces her finger in his wake. "Do you still miss it?" Her hand curled around his and around the globe. She was certainly going to buy it.

"Nah." He picked up the ornament to examine it. "I haven't lived there consistently since I was a kid. And since I was engaged. But even then, we bounced between there and..." His finger was too thick, but he pointed on the opposite coast about halfway down. "There."

She pursed her lips, tilting her head at the globe. "Do you ever just...wish you could stay in one place?" Umber looked back up to his dark eyes.

"I have since I came to Rhy'din." He handed the ornament over to the vendor. "Been here going on 6 years now. That's tha longest I been anywhere since I was 8 years old." He tapped ashes out onto the stone. "You feel the same?"

"You don't do as much travel since you've been here?" She sounded a little surprised, since he was gone all the time. Scrunches up her nose. "Yeah, I do. I haven't been off world in almost 6 months, and it's been so blissfully glorious." Turns away from him, digging through another barrel. Picks up a pickle, tilting her head at it. "A pickle" Seriously?"

Jo laughed and shook his head. "That is awesome. We should get it and hang it on the wreath!" A thick finger poked her right in her middle. He wiggled his eyebrows.

Giggles, slapping his hand away. "Only *you* would be so overjoyed by a pickle!" Shakes her head, handing it over to the vendor, too.

"It's hilarious. C'mon doll." He handed it to the vendor too. The cigarette he was holding was dropped to the stones and he stepped on it to extinguish it.

"Uh huh." Up on the counter was a heart shaped ornament, and she smiled, handing that over, too. She moved to grab some coins from her purse when she saw the perfect ornament. "Hey, look at this one!" She lifted up a newspaper ornament. "For the gossip rags!"

Jo laughed and shook his head. "For a while there it was like me and you were the only thing happening in Rhy'din. Think they'll have something ta say about us now that we're still together and totally nuts fer each other?"

A big, disappointed sigh. "I know, right' And then they got lives. Or something else more exciting happened, and they forgot about us and moved us to the back burner..." Grins. "Guess we'll just have to give them something to talk about!" Picks up the newspaper ornament and adds it to their small little pile. "It might be newsworthy, guess we'll have to wait and see?"

"We give them plenty to talk about every day we show up in public. Right?" Jo nodded and put his arm around Duci's shoulder line. It was too easy from his vantage point. "We should throw out some false info and see what happens. How about..I'll leave yer place in a huff screaming obscenities."

Exchanges for the treasure of ornaments with a handful of coins. Dimpled smile for the woman. "Thank you, miss." She turned to Jo, leaning into the crook of his arm with a throaty laugh. "That's a good idea. Or maybe we should announce we're expecting?"

The Wreath and special baubles purchased on their trip.

Jo shook his head and poked at her stomach. "No. You don't look like you're even expecting to have dinner."

Scoffs, rolling her eyes at him. "Don't be ridiculous. I wouldn't start showing for a few weeks, either....Or I could get a beach ball?" Grins deviously, leading him further down the avenue in search for a toy shop. "Are we really going to get a ridiculous train set?"

"Yes. An absolutely ridiculous train set that makes noise and runs all over the condo. From the living room to the dining room. Through the walls and into the bedroom." Jo nodded. "Speaking of, maybe we'll say a sex tape exists. Wanna be famous?"

Shakes her head, shifting the little pouch of ornaments to her other hand. "You're crazy." Pause. "And I love it." Wicked grin, laughing at his proposal. "That would go over well, I'm sure."

"Here is how we do it." Jo walked from that cart to a few down the way, all covered in Christmas. "We have someone say they have our sex tape. Someone who isn't us. Then have them offer to sell it to Franco. And when they do, it's video of Franco taking his shirt off at the beach or something, in slow motion."

Giggles, fingers trailing over trinkets and baubles from passing vendors. Gives him a disbelieving look. "Really' That's your master plan' Does Franco even go out in the sunlight?"

"He has to sometime, right?" Jo chuckled a little bit and rubbed his hands together eagerly. He walked down until there were no more carts and just the dead end of this alley. "See anything you like?"

She stopped, looking around. "I think we passed the toy shop back there..." Thumbjerking behind them and to the left. "Wanna stop inside" I could look for Anya's boys' presents, too.." Grimaces. "They're so hard to shop for."

"Kids are impossible to shop for. Especially those creepy really perceptive kinds they seem to breed a bunch of in Rhy'din." They walked back in the direction of the toy store. "I say you get them socks."

"Anya's boys are little angels! They're actually not creepy strange...but they are awful smart. Suppose they get that from their parents..." Stops in her tracks to stare at him. "Socks" You're joking!"

"It's a test of how well behaved they are. If they get the socks and thank you, next year you spoil them rotten because they are good kids." Jo opened the door to the toy store and marveled.

Raises a brow, continuing into the store after he opens the door. "I suppose that's not an awful idea," she agreed begrudgingly. Glances back at his marveled look, grinning. Tugs on his hand, leading him farther in. Looks around, up on her tippy toes for a better vantage. "See the trains anywhere?"

Jo was rustling around through boxes then held up one that had a train with a few cars and what looked like endless amounts of track. "Found one!"

Moves around a crowd of shoppers to find Jo knee deep in a box of trains. Laughs. "Think it'll be enough track?"

"More than enough." Jo nodded eagerly and went to pay. "So you like my socks idea?" Jo chuckled and shook his head. "You don't hafta though. I'm sure Anya would appreciate toys to keep them distracted."

Whacks his hand out of the way. "Get out of here, I'm buying this train set!" Shakes her head. "Nah, I won't get them socks. I think I'll get them some books. Books are good for the soul. And maybe some swords. You can never start too early, right?"

"Practice blades. Especially if they're heavy wood." Jo willingly stepped out of the way and smiled wide.

"Practice blades?" Squints at him. "I suppose that's wiser..." Spends a few minutes haggling with the store owner before exclaiming. "What! Fine, fine..." Grumbles, handing over a handful of gold. Sideways look to Jochin. "You're lucky I really, really like you." She's only teasing, her face breaking into a fat grin. "I can't wait to put it together!"

"I can't wait ta get back home doll." He picked it up and put it under his arm to join the wreath. "Would ya say today was a successful day a shopping?" Jo stepped out of the store and onto the street again, holding the door with his back for Ducii.

"Me either!" Excitedly, arms laden with ornaments. "I would think so. We didn't do too bad, did we?" Glides past him and out into the avenue. "Thank you." For holding the door.

"We did great." Jo nodded eagerly. "Any day I get ta spend wit ya is a great day." Once they were outside he was lighting a cigarette again.

She's blushing, and she tries to hide it by looking away. "You're too sweet."

"Wanna head home" I'll find lights some other day. For now I think we got a lot of shopping done." He looked at the sun in the sky. "Besides, now I'm hungry." Eyebrows waggled.

Nods her head eagerly. "Yes! I want to get the tree pitched up." And that wasn't all. Beams at him. "We still have another 20 days, in theory, right?" Cheeky smile as she nudges him. "I could certainly make lunch?"

"Not hungry fer lunch doll." Small nudge with his elbow. The days were shorter so the sun hung lower in the sky, even for the mid afternoon. Jo led again. All the way back down the block and back to that fountain, where only a few denizens milled about.

"Oh, well the—OH!" She blushed again, coughing slightly. A coquettish lick of her lips. "Mm. I could go for that, too."
