Unexpected how things came to pass. Really she wasn't quite sure how to wrap her mind around how things even started. Maybe it was that moment her world shattered..

It started with a long thought on how things were for her. She had felt empty and cold when she and Toby talked. As if the very thing that gave her life was being threaded from the shell that was her body. No matter how much he said she needed to go back to how she was before. He really had no clue what he was asking and really she didn't want to. The thought alone of losing him more then she already had was a terrible, terrible concept. But it wouldn't be only him she would lose. She'd lose Mayu, too. Everything would become nothing to her. She would return to that state of nothing more then a puppet with no emotion or true thought.

She didn't want that.

She liked feeling. Happiness, sadness, even anger...It made her feel...alive. She liked feeling alive and not just some doll waiting for orders.

And what if there was an off chance Toby needed her" She had always told him she would be there for him. And he seemed very sure she always would. She was his best friend after all. That would never change.

And what if Mayu needed her" How was she going to be a good big sister if she couldn't be there when Mayu needed her? Really she wouldn't be able to forgive herself..

She had reasons not to fall into emptiness. She wanted to be there for those she cared for and that was far greater then any want to simply let go. Even if doing so meant she had to deal with the unimaginable pain that tore away in her chest every waking moment. She could hide it away along with her truest of feelings. She could feel and be happy.

Pieces picked up became a touch more easier then she had expected when the most unlikely of things happened.

In a single word...

Duci.

The blond whirlwind of a woman all but turned Katt's world upside down in a single night. Never had she imagined that Duci's introducing her around the inn as she had would mean more people in her life. Now there were many names and faces for her to remember. Heck even a few new friends which she was still finding surprising in itself. They didn't seem put off at all by her eyes or how unnatural she seemed. Or how sociably backward she was at times.

Duci didn't stop there. Upon hearing no place to lay her head, Duci insisted that Katt stay with her. Of course she wasn't sure how to respond to the offer at first. Duci was a very nice person but she really didn't want to impose on the blond bombshell. It didn't take much to coax Katt into the idea though. Course that could of been the lack of sleep. The idea of a warm, fluffy bed was alluring in her fuzzy mind.

Going to the condo was a bit of a foggy thing. She barely remembered leaving the inn let alone the directions to the place. Duci gave her a grand tour which was mostly left upon a consciousness that was waning.

The moment Duci stepped out and that door closed, Katt's face met the pillow. Dressed in dirty clothes and shoes, rucksack still upon that shoulder.

She slept...hard.

.: May 5th :.

Waking up she found herself barely able to move. Pain shot up her arm as she rolled over, rucksack biting into her shoulder. Sitting up she rolled forward and soon came face to face with..

"What the f—Ahh!" she scrambled up onto the bed when the white fluffiness started towards her. Sleepy mind didn't quite capture the fact that the creature was in fact Duci's forewarned polar bear. It sniffed at her and she swatted a hand frantically at it. "I ain't got any food! Shoo!"

Pupiless greens blinked and watched wearily as the creature did as bidded. Slowly clambering out of bed she watched the door. Rucksack was dropped to the floor and slowly but surely she snuck out of the room. Surroundings were far too new but she eventually found herself in the kitchen.

First thing that shot to mind. Food! So straight to the fridge she went. It was only when she grasped at the door that she noticed her name on a large lip-shaped paper. She blinked at the paper and reached up to pull it off.

Good Morning, Katt!

Help yourself to any food and I left coffee for you, and a shower if you need it. The guest bathroom should have any and all toiletries you'll need, and the closet is full of clothes, any sex and any size. Just tell it your gender and size and it should spool that section your way.

See you later!

<3Duci

Nose wrinkled up. Coffee" Bleh! But that wasn't what caught her attention out of the words. Curious of the later facts on the paper she left the kitchen and backtracked her steps to her room.

She found the penthouse to be freaking huge and wondered if she was actually going to get lost just going to the bathroom!

Stepping into the room was like stepping into a building all of it's own. It was freaking huge. How did she miss that on her way out' The dirty, old rucksack against the white furry carpet under the bed looked entirely out of place. The bed she found was rather crazy. It looked as if it was hovering off the floor! A floor, mind you, that was super shiny. Which meant she spent a number of minutes just staring at it, admiring the shininess and the grain pattern of the wood. The room was far more fancier then what she was use to by far.

Sighing she looked at the lip-shaped sticky again and slowly moved towards the wall that looked as if it could of been a closet. "Tell it what I want huh' So I guess if I want a black jacket-" She was cut off by a quiet swoosh as the closet opened and not only displayed what she spoke but outfits that seemed to go with it. She nearly jumped out of her shoes when it opened and she blinked at the insanely large amount of clothing displayed.

"Holy..hell.." Seriously how do you react to that!" Well of course she sat there and requested a few more things and watched as the closet closed, swoosh!, new clothes. It was like a new toy and she giggled between selections. "Wow.."

Moving away from that she decided to examine some more of her room which soon enough brought her to the vanity. She blinked and brushed her hands over the arrangement of brushes, boxes, containers, left out makeup, and hair stuffs. Curiously she opened one of the jewelry boxes that folded out into many arms. Flopping back onto the chair she gawked at the shinies it displayed to her eyes.

Hours were spent going through the jewelry that seemed just as vast as the clothing. Trying on everything that would fit until she had no room to wear anything else. So much shiny so little time!

Was she really allowed to use and wear all this" Seriously"!

By the time she finally pried herself from the vanity it was very late and she crashed into the bed. Too much excitement simply drained her dry.

.: May 6th :.

The day had been, more or less, a normal thing. Even though she was all squeaky clean and dressed in basic norm. Well norm for her. Even with the heavy arrangement of clothes she just didn't know what to pick out! So she stuck to oversized shirts and jeans.

She had spent a good chunk of the day was spent in the market. A few spare things sold gave her a little money to spend which she placed to good use.

A brief conversation with Ixora, which she was surprised to see, reminded her that she wasn't as alone as she was starting to feel. Mayu and Toby were out there. And so was Ixora. It felt odd talking to her again but it was just as easy to fall back into.

Parting ways she stopped into a bookstore and started asking questions. She was pointed out and down the street. What a bother!

Entering the store she immediately felt out of place. The guy behind the counter gave her quite a strange look. And ..why did it seem like there wasn't that many females in this place" There were shelves upon shelves upon shelves of thin little books.

"Can I help you?" the guy behind the counter finally piped up after his surprise of her entrance. This caused her to turn and slowly move to the counter's edge.

"Erm. Y-yeah. I'm looking for um. Batman?" Unsure of what that was and the guy even scoffed.

"Okay. Anything more specific?"

"Anything?" She responded quietly. The look on the guy's face she would of swore his eyes just turned to dollar signs. Cha-Ching" She watched as he started babbling stuff and placing a pile of the thin little books onto the counter. It became a big pile in time. Huffing a breath she stared at the pile then looked over to the counter to a glass cased comic that had a similar if not old version of who she figured to be batman. Lifting a hand she pointed it out. "What's that?"

"Oh that's a rare edition-" She heard rare and after that she didn't hear the rest of the explanation.

"I want that too.."

The guy's jaw about dropped down to the floor. "I don't think you will be able to afford it, lady!" A sound of ringing had him turning his head and he made a gesture for her to wait.

She watched him disappear into the back room. A simple shrug and slipped up and over the counter. Opening the little door that shielded the rare thing from being touched and it was carefully removed, plastic cover and all. Curiously she looked at it. What made it so rare" Shrugging she slid over the counter and onto the opposite end. Shoving a hand into her pocket she dished out what money she had onto the counter and scooped up the pile of comics. She didn't even wait for the guy to return.

The little bell signaled her leave. The guy came out a few minutes later to find the small pile of money that would barely cover the comics that had been on the counter. It would not be noticed for a long while that what had been so precious was now missing.

Returning to the penthouse she found that Mez was waiting at the door, staring up at her. Seriously she wasn't sure what to make of the oversize bear. There was a little sense of fondness if only because it reminded her of the white stuffed bear that was now laid on her bed.

Passing by she gave a quick, cautious petting to Mez's head as she made a beeline for her room. The stack of comics were dropped onto the table and they were stared at. A few were picked up and flipped through. Hopefully Dean would show his face soon. She was starting to grow very worried.

Flopping onto the bed she started to read..

.: May 15 :.

The past two days she had been locked up in her room and despite Duci's worry she didn't leave the confinements. The blond bombshell's worry could be heard even through the door and Katt did her best to let Duci know that she was just feeling sick. It was so much more then that but even still she didn't want to share anything at that particular time.

At least she had left a note at the hall for everyone so they knew where she would be and why she wasn't showing face. Maybe she should of left one on Mayu's apartment door too.

Sitting on the very edge of the bed with her legs drawn to her chest she stared at the parchment wrapped item on the floor. Toes pressed into the bed and she rocked back then slowly forward. The process was a continuous motion of rocking in attempts to bring herself some comfort. Dressed in nothing more then an overly large shirt, she looked a bit better then she had the past few days yet still she held that sickly paleness. She still felt tired and weak. There was an ache everywhere, including her heart.

She had been honest when she said she had been waiting. She waited at all her normal places. Just at stranger then normal hours. Still she should of left notes. In truth she had started to worry when she hadn't seen Mayu at the hall like Ixora said she had been staying but in the end she thought Mayu was training. And she didn't know if she was allowed to visit Mayu during her training. Would that get Mayu in trouble" Meh. Should of still went anyways. Should of checked the apartment.

What really worried her now was did Mayu hate her" The way Mayu glared at her or spoke to her hurt. Nearly as much as Mayu's words at the island though. 'I hate having a sister'. It had been terribly hard not to cry when she heard those words. Tho later when she got 'home' she did plenty of that. It still ate at her even to that moment. Even if that had been days ago it was still fresh.

She should of left notes....

Her head lowered until her chin was against her knees and her eyes peeked over the fold of her arms.

She wanted to see them tho. That's why she always waited for them. Hours on end. Day after day.

Granted lately it didn't seem like Toby wanted her around. He was distant and sharp with her. It was like back when he was trying to kill himself. She knew that wasn't the case now. He wouldn't...

She felt tears trickle down her cheeks, creeping their way down her cheeks and arms. Was she losing everyone she cared for" One by one"

You do not belong in their lives. You bring them pain and suffering. No matter what you do. Her arms suddenly unfolded when that hellish voice entered her head. Fingers crawled into her hair and gripped with force. "Shuddup..." she hissed at the walls. Her feet pushed off the bed and she threw herself back into the bed with a huff, hands stretched from her sides. Her whole body screamed in pain from the effort but that was okay. Staring at the high rise ceiling.

Trying to keep herself from falling asleep she struggled with herself. She was trying so very hard to be happy and keep hold of it despite everything. Really she was...

Rolling over she buried her face into the pillow and closed her eyes. She could feel the feverish heat from her face radiating into the pillow. Sniffing she rubbed her face back and forth along the pillow to wipe away the tears. Eventually she fell asleep, her body too tired to continue the struggle.

She didn't want to lose anyone...

...including herself...

.: May 16 - Morning :.

She woke up way early but was feeling much better. Sliding out of the bed she felt her feet press into the parchment covered item that Toby had given her. The way things have been she was actually dreaded to open it.

Sighing she leaned forward to pick it up. Might as well get it over with right' With it under arm she wandered out of her room to find Mez sitting on the other end. Staring groggily at the bear she grunted. "What' Duci will feed you when she wakes up." The bear staring at her was unnerving. Sighing she raised a hand, which she realized was a bit difficult. She still felt weak. Petting Mez's head she moved around the bear. It..was following her.

Feeling a nudge against the package she squinted down and moved the package away from Mez's nose. Once in the kitchen she made herself a glass of orange juice. Placing the package down on the counter while she took a drink she flinched. It stung her still tender throat. She kept on drinking though while watching Mez who was eyeballing the package.

"Don't even think about it..." she warned the polar bear and settled the glass down into the sink. Moving back she reached to the parchment and started to peel away the wrapping.

Needless to say what she found left her baffled. Really, really baffled. Fingers curled into the black fabric of the hoodie that had been wrapped up. Confusion rose as she lifted it up and when Mez attempted to paw at it she moved it sharply away. Parchment tumbled to the ground. Among it she noticed a piece of paper. Reaching down she picked up the note and read the extremely short message.

The paper was stared at for the longest time. A really long time. It took Mez nudging her to stop the stare at the paper. Brows eventually furrowed and she lowered her tear blurred eyes to the polar bear. A few pats was made to her head as she moved to the fridge and stole a few pieces of lip-shaped paper from the pad. With those and soon the wrapping in hand she retreated back to her room.

The wrapping and note were both neatly folded and tucked into her rucksack which she kept hidden under the bed. Once done she sat on the bed and looked at the hoodie. If she wore it wouldn't that sort of showing that she wasn't quite over him' Even if she wasn't, she wasn't showing how she felt any more. Those feelings and even hope..was nicely bottled up and shoved into concrete.

Her head lowered into the hoodie. Suddenly sobbing out she flopped back and buried herself back under the covers with the hoodie. The throbbing pain in her chest made her want to just curl up and die. Forcing herself to stop crying she collect herself before nestling the hoodie close. She murmured but whatever had been said was lost the dark fabric. Her body slumped into a peaceful repose if only for the time.

She would go out to see them now that she was feeling better. But for now....rest.

She wanted to be feeling as good as possible when she met up with them.

.: May 18 - Morning :.

She hadn't felt the extra weight in the bed. She was out cold. The bed shifted as the weight got closer. And closer. A warm body slipped up closer to her own, a limb drifting across her midsection as the body curled up to her own, spooning her from behind.

An hour later she stirred. She felt warmer then normal and it wasn't because she was sick. Weight against her back drew her mind instantly into a very aware state and her body stiffened. Who the hell was in bed with her"! Her mind ticked away quickly. She was in her bed..right' She did come home alone...right' Who the HELL snuck into her room"!

A warm breath against her neck made her shudder in the most unpleasant way. Far too unhappy memories shot across her mind.

Please don't let it be...

Her eyes finally opened and she turned her head to look over her shoulder...

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!" she screamed out almost instantly.

SLURP! Clear across the face a pink tongue moved making her bolt out of the embrace. Rushing out of the sheets was a hassle and she ended up face first to the floor with her legs laced in blankets. Kicking them off she rolled over and pointed at the polar bear that was crawling to the edge after her in playful antics. A hand raised, single digit shaking like a mad man at the bear.

"Goddamn it Mez! It's MY BED! I don't want to shar- AH! HEY!" She couldn't stop herself from laughing when the bear all but pounced her into a fluffy hug..sorta..

Sighing she slumped into the warmth of the hug. It was sort of like hugging her teddy bear but a lot bigger.

It didn't last long and suddenly she was released. Yelping she fell back to the floor and watched as Mez let herself out of the room. Shaking her head she sighed once again.

An hour was taken to work out in her room. Since she could no longer duel she had to resort to practicing alone. Maybe she could get a punching bag or something for her room..

Once she was ready she left the penthouse for a run..

Maybe she would stop for a smoothie. Hadn't had one in a long..long time.

.: May 19th - Early Morning :.

The night had been a long one with a lot of emotion behind it. Far more then she had really let on. Even the conversation with Toby she had managed to hold back a lot of things. It was just better that way.

But...

They needed the talk. She finally understood in full as why he had been so strange towards her. Why he was being an ass, as he put it. He felt guilty...It was a bittersweet thing really and it tore her heart up. He really was such a sweet heart....

Regardless of what he really thought of himself.

Regardless of what he was..

What he had been through..

It made her upset how he thought he wasn't as important as he really was. How special he was. He was important. Not to just her but to Mayu and Ixora too.

She had managed her way out of her room and into the 'world of the living'. She wanted to get a few things done. One subject to be done was tucked under her arm in a medium sized box.

She needed to be quick with that. Before Mayu woke up! But first she would dip into a familiar shop and make sure the woman took very good care of that beloved little scarf that was once again tainted with blood. Oh the sour look the woman gave her when it was passed over...

"What the hell have ya children been doing with this thing" Bathing ya wounds with it?" The elderly woman scolded her and she grunted.

"No just..stuff happens. You can get the stains out right?" she inquired softly and the woman nodded sharply. That made her smile softly.

"Same scent as last time?" The woman asked as she moved away and Katt was quick to shake her head.

"N-No. I want..Um.." She glanced down and brushed away a few softeners till she found the one she wanted. Her thumb drifted back and forth across the scented paper. "This one..."

The older woman smile. "Tranquility. Is it for that boy you are always with?"

Her features tightened up and she looked up to the woman. "Sorta."

The woman gave a little glee of a giggle and started sweeping her way towards the back room. "Oh can't fool these old eyes dear girl!"

She scowled after the woman. "It's not like that."

The last thing she saw was the woman waving her off. She felt ..defeated...Sighing she rubbed her neck and looked to the door. Calling out she turned and started her way to it. "I'll be back in about a hour.."

The bell above the door sounded her leave in a gentle little tingle.

Time to set her plan into motion. She was a little...okay..a lot nervous..

.: May 21st - Early Morning :.

Katt didn't come home alone. This little fact surprised even herself to a point but for many reasons. Hopefully Duci didn't find out. Not because she was shamed or anything but she found herself strangely concerned with...being teased.

The expression on Toby's face at the sheer size of the place was amusing. Even more so when he saw the room. It was...cute..

Compared to the night and what had happened..this was a small retreat all in itself. Okay a big retreat if you count the size. The attack from the creature had left her with many questions. Some she needed to find answers to. And soon. She dreaded having to do it. What if she did know and didn't realize it' Did it mean that she lied to Toby' What was running around in that head of hers wanted to make sure that what he made her think of had nothing to do with what happened..

He seemed to really like the monstrous bathroom because once he went in he didn't come out for a hour or two..maybe it was three..she lost track of time while waiting. It worried her. She knew he didn't drown or at least she hoped he didn't. Rall asleep in the tub and sploosh! Or..

She knew he felt guilty for what happened to Mayu. She did too. Whatever got ahold of Mayu was out of their reach at the time. Would Toby be mad at her if she told him he should of stayed with Mayu instead of going back to help her" Mayu was more important.

Without his help she knew...She would of died. Part of her wanted it, she would realize at some point. To stop being a pain to those she loved. She only caused more problems then really doing any good. She was forever upsetting Mayu and it was both frustrating and upsetting to see Mayu so urked with her. She wanted to be a good sister, she really did. It was a new experience to have family and she was failing miserably. This guilt hanged on her more heavily on her heart.

She knew after what happened that Mayu was safe. That was the only ease in her mind if only a little. She was with Evelyn. Evelyn protected Mayu just as fiercely as she and Toby. She could, to a point, trust Evelyn. It wasn't that she didn't. Oh no! She did! But even still there was that care and ever protectiveness when it came to Mayu. Noone was good enough for her...But Evelyn made Mayu happy...So...Evelyn came close to being good enough. She knew Evelyn wouldn't hurt Mayu.

And Toby..

She felt her eyes on the door as he came out, pulling her thoughts from Mayu and onto himself without even realizing his own doings. He was a whole world of a different subject. Watching him bounce on the bed was one of those moments she was glad to see him have fun. She hated she couldn't do more to ease his aches. When it came to him she felt absolutely useless and helpless. Not a pleasing combination. She hated herself for not being able to sever the feelings that dwelled in her heart for him. Slashed..Stomped...Shoveled away into a bottle then sealed away where it eternally belonged. It could beat there and not be heard. It could beat without being a bother to the outside world.

Chuckling she watched as Toby tired himself out with trying to break the 'floating' bed. Collecting pillows to himself he seemed to like being so surrounded by the softness. It made her smile if only a little. While he was busy with debunking the bed she moved into the bathroom to take her own bath. Less shorter then his by hours. The water was nice, soothing at her sore body. She probably should of taken him up on the offer of more of his blood. But..

The rushing water made her sink some, eyes closed as she tried very hard to wash away the night. Scrubbing away at her skin to get the inky stuff off. She probably took off a few layers in the process. There were so many scented soaps and lotions in the bathroom it took her just a while to pick one out. Something called Rainkissed Leaves" was her choice. It smelled pretty.

Exiting the bathroom wrapped up in one of the big towels she blinked to find Toby fast asleep. Her expression openly softened at the sight. He really did exhaust himself out didn't he. Well that was good. She could change without freaking him out at least. After giving a brief order to the auto-closet she watched him sleep. His expression looked ..peaceful. She could only hope that his sleep was just that. She wished he had that peace in the awake world..

Changing was swift and the towel forgotten on the floor as she moved to the bed. Nothing special even now. Just a simple cotton jammie set.

She was at ends with herself. She wanted to sleep there next to him. Remember that warmth and protection that came with being at his side when darkness overtook her. It eased her more then he could ever know. She knew she shouldn't feel like that. Knew she had no right and that is what made her want to collect a bunch of pillows and crawl onto the floor. Maybe it was sleep that had her crawling in the covers and curling up into some pillows as she laid down on her side next to him. She could just watch him for a little while. Reaching out she pulled the plush blanket up to his shoulders then tucked her hand back under the pillow she was clinging to.

She watched him for a time, thinking over events and things more recent. Something came to her mind as she started to drift asleep. Toby hadn't used his yoki to heal himself. Maybe he had been knocked unconscious and couldn't' She remembered that dread. She had thought him..dead. Maybe that's why she had all but shoved the vial into his mouth. Hoping against all odds she was wrong.

Curling more into her pillow, it was drawn taunt to her chest in attempts to ease the pain that nearly crushed her chest. That was not a memory she wanted to go to sleep on. She drew out of the position suddenly when she heard Toby, thinking him awake but it sounded as if he had just sighed out. Still fast asleep. She curled back up again but this time for sleep.

They were suppose to leave Mayu and Evelyn alone. Go to the ocean palace or something. The idea to go swimming danced in her head. Yeah...They could go do that.

Everything would be a little better tomorrow...

...She could hope...

.: May 22st - Afternoon :.

The events of the following day had left her on so many levels of confusion that she wasn't even sure how to start unravel them. She hadn't even remembered falling asleep in his arms. She remembered the warmth and the sensation that wrapped her. A protection and safety that she felt from him.

He wanted her to feel that..

It was perplexing..

I used to hug people a lot..and all the time...A lot of people thought it was annoying and stuff, but I did it anyway...You're kinda different..

Different. Was that good or bad?

She woke to find herself tucked securely under the blanket. Blurry vision didn't conceal the fact that a foot or so away was that brilliant orange hair that crowned Toby's head. Fingers curled into the sheets then relaxed. Slowly but surely slept left her and sure enough. He was still there. Waking up to find Toby still there..she hadn't expected that. It was twice now. She knew it wasn't a lasting thing but she had to admit to herself she didn't even expect him to stay the first time let alone a second. Or wake up to find him there a second time.

Her throat began to spasm with the efforts of wanting to cry. She managed to stop herself from reaching out and touching him. Instead she pressed her pillows close to him, offering a sort of wall from the world. Carefully sliding out of bed she moved quickly to the closet once freed and sure she hadn't woken the sleeping form.

A pair of dark jeans was picked out and pulled on. Followed by the ever familiar and beloved hoodie. Glancing over to Toby she moved to the bathroom and collected the clothes he had forgotten about. They were stuffed into a dark tote, as well as the scarf. She'd part from the room long enough to snatch a sticky to write something down. Moving back to the room she'd place the sticky where he was sure to see it. Carefully stuck to the bathroom door!

Toby

I've gone to the market to deal with something. If you leave..you are more then welcome to come find me. I'll be coming back here so if you just want to wait that's cool too. There is food in the fridge so have at it!

See you soon ~Katt

After staring at the lip-shaped note she chuckled. It was an amusing thing to her. She hated pink. Duci LOVED pink!

Shaking her head she turned and glanced at Toby. She smiled and quickly escaped herself from the room and the penthouse as a whole. She took to the markets with haste. She mostly wanted to be back before he woke..

.: May 23st - Early Morning :.

Staying out far later then expected she found the evening had been something she hadn't planned. First there was meeting Zenny, Mayu's teacher. That woman was not what she was expecting...at all..

Zenny was a warrior, that much she could distinguish. Not only from the fact she carried weapons but how she carried herself. It made her slightly more at ease to know that Mayu was around such protection while she was away during training. What she didn't like was the fact Zenny smacked Mayu. It...annoyed her. But ..she suspected some physical punishment ..wasn't that bad. Zenny cared too much for Mayu to really harm her. Still annoyed her tho...

The little creature, Jirodi. Now he was an oddball! She still didn't know what part he played in everything but he sure did make her miss Gizmo. A lot..

During the brief meeting and chat with Zenny Mayu had showed up. She found herself quite ecstatic to see the girl and had to hanker herself down from tackling and hugging her. Mayu didn't really seem to want contact from her so she was trying her damn hardest to oblige. It was..difficult. Specially when she was absolutely so highly happy for the girl!

Mayu was in love. There was absolutely no denying that fact 'specially after hearing her tell Jirobi that her heart belonged to someone else. Squee~!

It made her regret on so many levels bringing up the ordeal of her scars. It was still difficult on so many levels for her to even acknowledge what her life was once upon a time in front of Mayu. She wanted Mayu to..think good about her. Not some sort of monster behind a slaver's whip.

She really should stop babying Mayu from that. If anything it was clear that Mayu wouldn't be phased by it. Her words were strong ones. She had to trust that things would work out.

She didn't want to admit outright how much it meant for her for Mayu to be there. It was much more then just training. It was..support. And quite frankly, She was..scared. She didn't know what to expect. But..that would be dealt with in time" Right.."

Slipping into her room with all these swirling thoughts she stopped short. The room was empty. Toby was gone. It didn't surprise her as much as she thought it initially would. Maybe because she was expecting it. Still. A sigh passed from her as she closed the door. She made her way to the bed and tripped over something. Really should be watching where she was going. Then again...normally there was nothing on the floor! Her foot had landed oddly and she toppled onto the bed. Quickly curling she peeked over the edge to see what it was that she had stepped on. It was sorta..squishy. Oh shit did she step on Silverbell again?!

Nope.

Toby's bag.

Blinking at it she moved to sit on the edge and collect it. He forgot his bag. It would be placed on a nightstand quietly. Reaching into the tote she started to remove the cleaned clothes, neatly folding them and placing them on top of the bag. She could always bring them to him later...

Legs stretched and she jumped off the bed, heading her way towards the bathroom. She blinked seeing the lip-shaped sticky still up there. Not only that but...He had written something.. I'll be back.

P.S. — This mouth paper is weird too. =)

Toby actually left a note! HOLY SHIT! Not only that but he left it with a ..smiley face" She had to laugh at that. It was cute. Tugging on the note she pulled it from it's spot, a sad little smile on her lips.

He was so sweet sometimes...

The smile faded and she shook her head, disappearing into the bathroom for a quick change. Once that was done she moved to the bed and shuffled things around just so she could curl up in the spot he had once been in. It smelled like him. Smiling she balled up under the covers and tried to get some sleep.

.: May 23st - Afternoon :.

She over slept and she could only guess to the reason why. The last few nights had been relatively peaceful for her. She hated that and at the same time not so much. She knew the reason behind it and the reason didn't want to be the reason.

Feet swept across the floor as she made her way to the bathroom, still feeling quite heavy with sleep. Sleepwear was shed and left to the floor without a second thought. The only thing that remained on her was the scarf and it hanged loosely collected over her bare shoulders. Moving to the large bath she fumbled for the knob that would have the water running. There was a lot of bath to fill so she moved away to the wall-length counter at the other side of the room. Taking up a ribbon she tied her hair into a messy bun. Slowly her hands drifted down to the sides of her cheeks. Scars. They riddled everywhere. Including one that marked right down over her lips. One hand slumped to her side while the other rubbed at a crescent scar that hovered across her chest. Finally stopping at the single scar that was over her heart. Of all the scars...Maybe that one would be the one she would keep.

A reminder...

She hated how she looked the longer she looked at herself. Some patch of flesh more darker then others. Deep and ugly sealed lacerations. The one that dipped over her left chest and down to her torso brought about some rather horrible memories. Her hand ceased in the roaming, pressing gently to a circular scar at her torso. There were a number of those left behind by Tylor.

Her eyes closed as her hand rose up into the plush scarf and it was shoved to her neck. It stopped her from touching her own throat. What memory swam then was one that caused a bitter smile of sorts. Hand shoved down swiftly though and she shook her head. Bottled away swiftly with the rest of everything else. Sealed into that concrete where ....it belonged...

The scarf was finally removed and carefully folded. "I need to give you back to him." She spoke to it as if it would understand. Leaving it on the counter, safe and sound, she retreated to the bath to soak away a few hours.

What started as a soak turned into a cat-nap.

Waking up was cold and wet! Flailing she blinked awake, sending water to the floor. Looking around she realized where she was. Laughing sheepishly to herself she climbed out of the tub and into a fluffy towel. Drying the oil scented water from her body she glanced around. Hair bound up in a towel she moved to toss the scarf around her neck again then toddled out to the closet. Shorts. hoodie. She was good to go long before she was actually awake.

She was out of the penthouse late in the afternoon. Maybe she'd go sit at the fountain.

...See what the day would bring...

I have changed, I have changed Just like you, Just like you

For how long, For how long Must I wait I know there's something wrong

Your concrete heart isn't beating And I've tried to Make it come alive

No shadows, Just red lights Now I'm here to rescue you oh

Oh I'm still alive, I'm still alive But can not apologize, no

Oh I'm still alive, I'm still alive But can not apologize, no

So silent, No violence But inside my head So loud and clear

You're screaming, You're screaming Covered up with a smile I've learned to fear

Just sunshine And blue sky Is this all we get For living here

Come fire, Come fire Let it burn and love come racing through

Oh I'm still alive, I'm still alive But can not apologize, no

Oh I'm still alive, I'm still alive But can not apologize, no

I've learn to lose, I've learn to win I've turned my face against the wind

I will move fast, I will move slow Take me where I have to go

Oh I'm still alive, I'm still alive But can not apologize, no

It was the hall. Their younger selves were talking the night away like normal. Laughter came so easily as did those smiles. He brought out something in her that was almost alarming. Almost. It was warm and uplifting. It made her feel....

.....alive.....

Then it came. A tall man draped in darkness. Easily throwing around his profession as a hunter. She felt tension stiffen up her body and her retreat from Toby if only to keep him from getting in harms way. Even if she wasn't exactly in harms way....yet....She told him why she had to leave. What she was. She...hated that look he gave her.

He was terrified.....of her...

There was a new set of emotions that came with that look she received. Dread and many things that came with it.

That only aided in her escape. She surprised herself by how fast she escaped the hall when he had given her that look..

Barreling her way through the city and soon enough the forest she took path to where she had been sleeping. Well up until she had met..him...A cave far out the way were she could not be found. He would be safe and she could ..find him later. Try to talk to him.

He would find her. He had followed. This in itself left her surprised. Not only that but ..he brought her food. And he talked with her. Sorta.

He repeated the process a number of times.

One day though he would come and find her severely wounded. She never did tell him what happened and quite frankly it didn't matter. Upon seeing her he all but retreated into himself. He knew what would fix her. He was too afraid to. She would eat him!

Strange as it was...That didn't stop him from returning. He'd leave and return. Leave....then return. Checking up on her with what she wondered..was concern?

When he came a final time she felt something she wasn't sure how to describe at first. She sensed something following him. Something large and primal. It was night and he couldn't see where he was going in the cave. The creature was waiting outside for him. She felt...

..fear...

Toby was in danger.

She didn't care about herself to any point. She was already on the very verge of death. Accepted it. Didn't fight it. Despite the pain that made her howl. Maybe...that was what made him check on her. Who knows..

He had to know he was in danger. He..

He tripped and busted his head. The scent of his blood was overwhelming. She'd much..rather die then take his blood. But...

For the first time in her life she was at ends with herself and soon enough..would feel guilty for what she was about to do..

Springing from her place she pounced the poor lad. It was quick but she fed from him just enough to quill the pain and heal herself. There was a fierce want to..She needed to protect him and she couldn't do that in her state. He shrieked and grew stiff. Slowly he sagged, seemingly enjoying the euphoria that came with the feeding. The wounds sealed and his hair brushed as she sat up. He didn't seem so disturbed and she gently drew his head into her lap. She wasn't expecting his head turn, face nestling into her stomach.

A breath was drawn on as he slept peacefully. She felt..guilty. Terribly guilty for what she had done. Gently his head had been lowered to rest on her cloak and she drew herself to stand. Hopefully he would not hate her when he woke. For now tho...there was a monster out there that needed to be taken care of.

"I will protect you. I....Promise.."

She would keep to that promise that she made on his blood..

...always...

Suddenly there were flickering images that over swept. Everything seemed so random but several of the images struck the sleeping form deeply.

She woke with a heavy breath. Why was her chest hurting. She fell asleep with the same ache. Eyes opened to find the other end of the bed empty. Sinking down she had expected it. Maybe hoped. But then again it was Toby. He always did things unexpectedly. Funny how the unexpected became expected..

Sighing she rubbed at her face and sat up. She found that her eyes had been wet with tears. She wasn't all that surprised she had dreamed about him. About ...that...Not after the conversation they had. It still made her feel odd. A lot that they had talked about drudged up a lot of old memories..and emotions..

Emotions that were, as she knew, best bottled up and re-shelved.

Shaking her head she moved from the bed and make her way to the closet. She could hear ..rain...Pants and hoodie it was!

Once dressed she started to the bathroom to brush out her hair to find...a stick. She didn't put that there. She blinked at it slowly and tugged it down from it's place. He left another note for her. It caused a smile as she read it.

I had to go back to the church..and see what happened to it and everyone else. If I'm still not here, you can start there. I won't get mad.

Promise. =)

He didn't make promises he didn't want to keep. Chuckling she nudged the paper with her thumb. Another smiley face. It was still cute of him. The paper was left with the brushes, the ivory comb used to quickly swipe through her hair before she'd leave the penthouse.

She wouldn't look for him. Not yet anyways. Maybe later. She wasn't sure. The church was sort of his 'hiding place'. Even if he said he wouldn't get mad..she just didn't feel right about it.

.: May 31st - Early Morning :.

It had been a relatively pleasing night and morning. Even if she felt completely embarrassed by the fact that she sung in front of Mayu and Toby. Why did Toby have to bring that up" And Mayu...She said she didn't want Katt to sing for her. So ...why"

At any rate she still felt embarrassed! Even if Mayu told her she had a pretty singing voice. Skills. Did she really have skills outside of destruction"

The door of the penthouse was pushed open and she was greeted by the hungry Mez. She had hoped that her frustration had melted away by the time she gotten back. It..hadn't...Mez was met with a glare of sorts as the door was closed. But...Since Duci was out of town...She marched her way to the kitchen and began to prepare Mez's breakfast.

You didn't have to follow me, you know..

Mez's bowl was dropped sharply and the polar bear shrunk back. She huffed quietly and passed the white creature, stalking her way towards her room. He had absolutely no clue why she was upset and seemed quite fine with just leaving. Apparently he wanted time alone. She should of figured that with his leave.

..Stupid...

Stopping in the bathroom she bound up her hair into a single ponytail a little too roughly.

Of course he had no clue. It didn't bother him.

Not like it did her.

But why did Mayu have to go say that. A double date" She knew about things between her and Toby. It...was upsetting. And then he didn't even try to say anything! Just accepted it. In the end so did she but only because she didn't want to remove that bubbly expression from Mayu's face. But still. He should of said something. But..did he ever?

Her hands roughly met the edge of the counter and her head lowered. It was already hard enough having to keep to herself like she had but it was hard. So..hard. Specially when things like..that came up. Pushing off the counter she rubbed her face. It would be okay. It wasn't really a double date after all. Just..hanging out.

Hands finally left her face and she stared at the mirror. Double dating. "It's..just a word.." She murmured to her reflection. "Don't let it get to you geez.."

Pushing off she made her way into the bedroom. She felt a little more..relieved. A little. Changing into a muscle shirt and shorts she made her way to the vanity and scooped up the pretty crystal from the jewelry box. Tossing herself onto the bed she stared at it and rolled over onto her side.

She was happy for Mayu. She found love..

The door had been unlocked so Toby could let himself in. If he ever came. It..was okay. He wanted to be alone. She understood. Accepted.

Clenching the crystal to her chest she closed her eyes. In the morning she'd stop by the church..to ask Sister Matilda that question.

...maybe...
