"In my daughter's eyes, I am a hero ....I am strong and wise, and I know no fear ..."

Life had settled, finally, in the Oliver Hudson Granger the Third household into something approaching normality. Even with the upheaval of bereavement within the family so recently, the little three-part family unit had discovered some kind of equilibrium within their four walls that made life much easier all 'round.

"....but the truth is plain to see; she was sent to rescue me ..."

Far ahead of all predictions of her development, Lyneth was sleeping through the night already, which in turn had finally provided her parents with some peace to catch up on their own sleep. She was already sitting up under her own steam, and Alannah, the midwife, had warned them that she would probably skip crawling altogether and begin walking within a couple more months. Thankfully, though, the baby girl seemed very content to sit on the floor with Loki and Poppy, the family's Malamute and African Grey, and let them entertain her, leaving Piper and Ollie time to do as they wished and needed.

"....I see who I want to be in my daughter's eyes ..."

This moment was a perfect example. With the winter sunlight shining in through the windows, Ollie had time, peace, and light to work on his current canvas, silhouetted in the sunlight and, as usual, covered in paint already. Piper, on the other hand, was ironing - a very domesticated chore she'd discovered to be very relaxing in the past months. The air in the loft apartment was still, broken only by the gentle cadence of Piper singing quietly to herself to relieve the oppression of that same silence.

"....this miracle God gave to me gives me strength when I am weak ..."

A low gurgle made her look up from her ironing for a moment, smiling fondly at the baby girl sat by the couch. Lyneth had both arms around Loki's neck as the Malamute heaved himself to his feet, standing more than a little unsteadily. It looked as though Alannah's predictions for the development of the Fae child might be a little skewed on the cautious side.

"....it's hanging on when your heart has had enough, it's giving more when you feel like giving up ..."

Piper's eyes travelled from their daughter to where Ollie stood, utterly engrossed in his painted canvas. It was just as well he was; if he had seen the look in her eyes as she gazed lovingly on him, she doubted there'd be much more painting done today. Getting properly acquainted with one another, without the pregnancy to cause concern, was high on their list of things they wanted to do, and always seemed to be the one thing that was constantly interrupted before it began.

"....In my daughter's eyes, I can see the future ..."

Turning her eyes back to her ironing before she burned a hole in her favourite pair of jeans, Piper went on singing softly to herself, barely aware that just on the edge of hearing there was an echo to each line. Just the tune, hummed accurately but so quiet, she wasn't entirely sure she was hearing it.

"....when I'm gone, I hope you see how happy she made me ....for I'll be there -"

"In my daughter's eyes."

Piper almost dropped the iron, blue blue eyes turning in shocked amazement toward her 11-week old daughter, who had just sung the last line of the song perfectly. Lyneth beamed over at her and dropped back onto her bottom, snuggling her arms around Poppy this time as Loki lowered back onto his belly beside the little girl.

Shaking, Piper carefully put the iron safely down and raised her eyes to Ollie.

"Please tell me you just heard that."
