"Someone needs to make sure we have enough vaccine to finish administering it to all employees and their families," Caroline was saying as she walked through the main offices of the GrangerGuild Building. "See if you can get in contact with Gigi and Elias, make sure they've been vaccinated as well, and find me a contact number for that Lovelace girl. I want to be absolutely sure everyone's protected. Did the temporary isolation wards get the delivery of blankets and sheets we sent over?"

Hurrying along beside her, Brynne nodded, scribbling all this down in her notepad. "Yes, I received confirmation of the delivery this morning, literally a minute before you walked in -"

"Good, that's something at least. I'll contact Alaric and Nina myself. Send a memo down to the mages' research hall requesting all vaccinated and healthy personnel to come and see me - set them up for an appointment no later than midday. And Brynne?"

She stopped so abruptly that her cousin and P.A. barrelled into her back, taking a few steps backward with a faintly embarrassed snort of laughter as she smoothed her notepad out again. "Yes, Caro?"

Caroline smiled gently. "When that's all done, go home to Lila. GrangerGuild officially ceased operations and trading for the duration of this crisis this morning; once the vaccine is administered, these offices are going to be a ghost-town. I'll be on the Winds or at Maple Grove, if anyone needs to contact me after today."

"You sure about that?"

"Absolutely. Go be with your daughter, Cub."

With that, Caroline pushed into her own office, moving straight for the desk. She didn't have a phone number for Alaric or Nina, but she did know that Alaric attended the Institute of Arcane Principle. Never mind that she had volunteered herself to contact the I.A.P. with regard to monitoring magical comings and goings to and from the city - she wanted to be sure her family was looking after itself during this crisis.

A note was carefully hand-written, and sent to the school, addressed to Master Alaric Granger.

Dear cousin,

Out of respect for your openly displayed wish not to be affiliated with the family openly, I have kept the secret of your presence in the city to myself and away from the ears of most of the rest of the Grangers here in Rhy'Din. However, in the current climate, I find myself increasingly concerned for the safety of yourself and your sister, Nina.

Please know that there is a place for both of you here at Maple Grove should your situation become untenable. I am sending with this note two vials of the vaccine being administered all over the city, and the address of a friend of mine - a nurse - who will be able to administer it to you and your sister safely.

Unfortunately, I have a favor to ask of you, one that feels awkward, but rest assured, even if I had not needed this, you would still now be in possession of the vaccine. I am not as heartless as certain others who share our name. If it is possible, Alaric, please could you put me in contact with the ones who run your school? I have to speak with them, regarding the magical portals around the city, on behalf of the G.A.C.

If this is not possible, don't let it concern you. Just be safe, Alaric, and your sister, too. If ever you're in need, you know where to find me.

Caroline.
