Manhattan - Investigators suspect foul play in the disappearance of prominent New York prosecutor Desmond Granger, who went missing some time after five p.m. Thursday evening. The man was last seen at his office in uptown Manhattan, where he was said to have been working late on a case involving suspected murderer and racketeer, Sam Nicoletti, son of businessman Marco Nicoletti.

Colleagues state that Granger was often known to stay late at the office and was extremely dedicated to his line of work. He was said to have recently offered his notice of resignation, stating personal reasons for leaving his position as prosecuting attorney, but that a final date of termination had not yet been decided.

A cell phone and suitcase believed to belong to Granger were found in a nearby alley, along with traces of blood. Authorities have not yet determined whether the blood belongs to the missing man and are awaiting further tests. No suspects have been arrested, but authorities are investigating and are looking at a number of persons of interest.

Anyone with any information regarding Mr. Granger's disappearance are asked to contact authorities. All identities will be kept strictly confidential.
