Jewell will most likely have to sit out of the competition today and just be a spectator since she sprained her ankle earlier in the week.

Kai asked Janie to help with a swimsuit (goddess help her). After hours of going through various suits they both agreed on one though it may be that Kai just gave in, picked one, so the painful process would be over! Now with that over it was time to have some fun and get wet!!

Mach showed up to the surf contest fashionably late in the morning....most certainly not because he had to find something he owned to wear which was appropriate for an orphanage charity event! Settling for a t-shirt and a pair of swim briefs which were far more modest than his usual speedo the schmooze would have to rent a board from the Custom Kings Surf & Supplies Shop as he most certainly didn't have his own. And once he was set up with all the essentials he then moved on to razz the competition in his schmoozy, friendly manner. The man was there to have fun and the best way to do that was to be friends with everyone there while riling them up to compete. Did he expect to win? Not by any stretch of the imagination but the man was still a hunter so no matter how little he cared about the results of the competition there was still an ingrained competitive side to him. It was a necessity really since coming out second in a fight in his line of work typically involved being shake and baked.

Snapping quiet the number of pictures using his quality cell phone camera of people, occurrences, surf runs, and selfies alone and with others the man would almost seem like he wasn't going to go into the water at all! But after a few folks started getting into the surfing he'd squirrel away his phone and get to it himself with a few practice runs....which he totally, utterly, and at one point spectacularly wiped out on. Had he practiced any prior to the event' Heck no! If anything the schmooze had spent as little time as he could thinking about surfing between the time he'd signed up and the time he was handing over money for his rental board. The rustiness was only exacerbated by how weird everything felt trying to surf on Rhydin which had a lower gravity coefficient than his home world which was the place where he'd learned to surf.

Biffing it and eating his board a number of times he would soon start to get the hang of things once more making adjustments to his technique on the fly. And by the time the competition was in full swing the schmooze was going at it like a champ....or at very least he was competent and full of bravado to try insanely stupid things. Such would rarely work out for him but that wasn't the important thing because he was having fun and made sure to pop up quickly after face planting the water so as others had fun at his expense too. And so Mach would compete, make merry, and get many pictures along the way as the day wore on.

Win or lose, it was a good reason to get the board and the wetsuit out for some fun.

Even though Lucy wasn't competing herself, she went down to King's Cove to watch the contest and cheer on her friends. She spent the day in her comfortable spot, watching the event with a pair of small binoculars she'd brought in her bag, reapplying sunscreen, and enjoying snacks from Incredible Edibles and an Italian ice from a passing vendor.

First heat, second heat - Dru couldn't remember having so much fun on the sea. The waves were perfect for surfing today, swelling high before breaking along the shoreline, offering up ample opportunity for each and every contestant to show off as much as they might like. She wasn't exactly an expert herself, but she knew a few tricks - enough to make her husband think twice about letting her enter in the first place, anyway, not to mention her sister, watching anxiously from the sand.

Halcyon and Stupid arrived early, Stupid cheerfully chowing down on the barbecue and just as cheerfully entertaining any kids brave enough to come that close to a giant of a horse with a taste for meat.

Halcyon loved to surf, and with her plainly old fashioned blue long board would put on quite a show on her runs, full on blowing it out with a muscular and aggressive style.

Waiting for her turn, she was yelling encouragement and glad to help out wherever wanted, and finally would haul out to flop beside Stupid to catch rays and eat, leaving a generous amount of coins for the orphanage in the box.
