Topic: Safe Havens For All

Caroline Granger

Date: 2017-01-14 10:08 EST
An address by Caroline Granger, CEO of GrangerGuild Conglomerate, has been printed in many newspapers and magazines, as well as broadcast on radio and television.

"As you are all aware, there has been a spike in violence across the city in recent months, mostly centered around the protests. It has become increasingly obvious that a small percentage of these protesters, and those who come into contact with them, consider these encounters an excuse to propagate violence for its own ends. These encounters have endangered not only those who choose to engage in them, but innocents who have no wish to be involved, including our children. As Johnny Storm noted, those who propagate this violence are in the minority, and we owe it not only to ourselves, but to our children to make the world in which they live a place where they need not live in fear because of some perceived difference. I am calling on community leaders and business owners in Rhy'Din City and the surrounding area to join me in declaring safe havens.

What is a safe haven" A place any citizen, regardless of race or religious belief, may enter in safety and be welcomed. A place where violence of any kind is not tolerated, and will be dealt with swiftly and efficiently, without recourse to answering violence with violence. A place where citizens can claim sanctuary from violence perpetrated against them until such a time as they can be safely returned to their homes, or wherever they choose to go, without the risk of further violence against their persons.

I am declaring all GrangerGuild properties safe havens for this purpose - all warehouses, docks, places of business, and Maple Grove itself will be safe havens for all citizens. GrangerGuild security will be present at all these locations. Anyone engaging in hate speech or violence will be ejected from these premises and banned from ever entering again.

I call upon community leaders and business owners in Rhy'Din City and the surrounding area to join me in declaring their own interests as safe havens. If you have need of it, GrangerGuild can supply security teams to ensure your declaration is upheld, and I am certain others will offer their own security measures.

I have faith in this city and its people to stand united against anyone who seeks to divide us. Our strength comes from the very differences that some would have you believe are dangerous and oppressive. Rhy'Din has always embraced peoples of every race and culture, and welcomed their involvement in the commercial and social life of our city. It would be a tragic shame if the recent rise in violence were to end what is, I believe, the best part of Rhy'Din.

Thank you."

((Tied to Jewell Ravenlock's Pro-Human Protests SL. All business and property owners are welcome to post here, to create a list of these safe havens so we're all aware of where is safe and where isn't. Feel free to add which security measures your business/property will be employing.Cheers, folks!))

Old Market West Side Emergency Services and Urgent Care Center has been and will remain a safe haven for all citizens.

Upgrades to Old Temple Fire Station #2 have been completed. The urgent care and emergency shelter opened 1 January. Like its Old Market counterpart, it too is a safe haven.

Harker's Academy in Old Temple will continue to hold self defense classes for non students after school hours. The academy is first and foremost an academic institution; the well being of our students is paramount. It is for this reason we are referring those in need of a safe haven to Nicole's Bistro across the street.

If needed, Hex and Garrison will offer escorts/rides home to those seeking help should they find themselves in a violent or uncomfortable situation and don't want to walk alone or face any violent/unruly crowds.

Hate speech and violence (against humans as well as non-humans) will not be tolerated and those incapable of following a simple tenet of mutual respect will be promptly barred from the establishment.

Per the original DGO charter, both Dragon's Gate Orphanage and the Farron-Queen Memorial Youth Centre in Dockside remain open and welcoming to all youth regardless of race. Increased security provided by Caelum Enterprises Enforcement Division has been provided at both locations to ensure the safety and security of Rhydin's youth.

Ammy Spiritor

The Alchemist's Fire Complex and any of the NPC businesses along Alchemy Lane in the Market Place district is marked as a safe zone headed and secured by Ammy Spiritor and backed by the Sword of Damocles Foundation created by Ammy. The SDF offers aid and supplies to all in need to keep any safe zones stocked and repaired. Any violence or malevolence that is brought to the street Alchemy Lane or the Alchemist's Fire Complex is greeted with an Area Effect Spell put in place by Ammy that transmogrifies all offenders into rabbits until they vacate the street or complex; once they have vacated, all rabbits are returned to their prior non-rabbit forms without harm. This goes for either side of the argument, Human/Non-Human.
