Myrlene Spiritor

Myrlene walked the sidewalk to Riverview Clinic. Mogriil, her ever watchful shadow was beside her helping her walk. Mog hadn't said much to her during the walk. She could feel he was deeply worried about her, and she believed he had a right. He was adapt at killing magic users, and knew all the ways they could die. Now here he was, helping me walk, and knowing I am in trouble.

Reaching the door, Mog opened it and kept it propped open with his armored shoulder to let Lene walk in. He helped her to the reception desk. Lene looked up at the busy receptionist and spoke softly.

"I need to make an appointment to be seen by Doctor Maranya for one Myrlene Wolf-Spiritor please."

The receptionist made a nod towards Lene and directed them to wait in the lobby for a few minutes. Mog helped Lene to a soft, padded chair and sat by her rigidly.

"What's the matter Mog?"

*One of my nature should not be in a place of healing. I will stay until a healer comes for you then I will wait outside.* Out came his body guard emotion and spirit.

Lene just sighed and nodded. She was too tired to argue and leaned against Mogriils shoulder and drifted off to sleep while they waited.

The Chief of Staff headed to Reception with the page. She nodded to Phyllia, and then turned to regard Myrlene and her companion with an oddly wistful expression.

Bozhe moi, I remember when I carried you on my hip not all that long ago, when your father needed treatment. And now? now you are nearly grown, my Sunshine.

"I appreciate your bringing Myrlene in, Mogriil." Maranya nodded to an orderly, who carefully helped the obviously ill Lupinossi teen into a wheelchair. "If you would come with me, please. I'm sure that Myrlene would feel much better with a familiar face around while I take a look at her, and see what is going on with my Sunshine."

Mogriil felt very hesitant to comply. He was being addressed by a healer, and they usually avoided him. Maranya did have a point, he had to admit. Since the duel that really knocked Lene down a peg, the teen had come to be quite enamored with him.

Mogriil nodded his steel helm to Maranya. "As you wish, Alphrans." he moved to follow Maranya and the Oderly wheeling Lene away. He felt even more shy and with drew deeper inside his armor.

The orderly touching her woke her up and she looked around a bit dazed. She blinked at Anya and smiled weakly and moved into the wheel chair with help.

"I just fell asleep waiting." she said softly as she was wheeled away.

He stroked Lene's hair as she was being wheeled by the Orderly. He was having a hard time admitting he had let someone get close to him. He looked to Maranya with those yellow, bright eyes that had seen more than any teen should. They had one question he asked in a low, deep, concerned voice.

"Will she be okay' Can you heal her?"

"We'll be running some tests to see what is going on with Myrlene, Mogriil. Once I have the results, I'll be able to give you a definite answer either way," Maranya stated as the orderly gently helped Myrlene onto the bed for the UltraSound CT scanner.

She headed over to the control panel to check the calibrations for the scan. A faint smile crossed her lips as she set the controls to light the inside scanner walls with tiny rainbow hued lights. Then she turned to Mogriil as the Lupinossi teen slid into the USCT.

"I do vow to do anything in my power to help Myrlene. Sunshine is very dear to me."

The only thing Mogriil did was nod his steel helm as he watched the strange device Lene was in. He watched Maranya looking at another device and went back to watching Lene. He had an odd feeling that magic was going on and that made him a bit twitchy.

After a few moments of realizing nothing was going to come out and attack him, Mog relaxed a little, just a little.

"How long have you known Lene? It seems ever since I was hired by her uncle to watch over her that she knows so many, and so many know her. She is only a teen." His voice had the faint metallic ring to it that an enclosing steel helm lends to everything.

She remained still on the bed as the scanner went to work. Her gray eyes focused on the colorless rainbows being displayed. As a pup, she thought the rainbows were sad with no color, but being able to shift to human form had let her see color finally and she had a gray analogue to compare the rainbows too. They indeed, did look beautiful.

Soft shallow breaths were made trying not to move much. She hoped Anya would find out what?s wrong. It bothered her, that before, when she was sick or ill, dad would take care of her. Now, dad didn't want to come near her. He was probably just following the physicians creed of do no harm. Since she was his daughter, he may do more harm being concerned for her.

Still, Anya was the best doctor in Rhydin. She knew mom could find out what?s wrong. That was another interesting thought. They always popped up when she was in a secluded place or could hide from others and think. The scanner was just such a place. If they were bringing back mom, would she be in trouble for calling Anya mother?

Lene let the thoughts bounce around a bit while she listened to the clicking noises.

Maranya turned to face Mogriil. "I've known Sunshine" Myrlene" since the beginning of this year. I've watched her through all her stages of growth. She is very dear to me, and will always be so."

The doctor then returned her attention to the control panel, and the patterns of flashing light on the readouts. "I gather that she is dear to you as well."

Surface thoughts that she picked up from the teen Lupinossi inside the USCT scanner brought an amused and fond smile to her lips.

Oh, Sunshine. I am honored that you think of me that way. Your mother has the honor of giving you life, and I will never try to take her place. But I will do my best to be there to guide and help you, as much as I am able to do so.

Maranya pressed the button to set the scanner bed in reverse motion. "I remember the last time we did this, Myrlene. You're still one of my best behaved patients," she declared with that same amused and fond smile.

Mogriil bowed his steel helmeted head for a moment.

"At first, I hated her. Hated being saddled with someone younger than me to protect....but...." he looked over to the scanner as the bed was reversing.

"She has a way of growing on you. I am very fond of her and she is dear to me. She doesn't judge me or fear me for my body or ways. It is.....refreshing, very refreshing."

Mogriil walked over to help Lene sit up giving her a hug and sneaking a kiss in too.

Lene looked over to Anya weakly and smiled. "I will always be a good patient as long as no needles are involved." another smile.
