((Note: This is a joint work between the players of Stas Ryan, Timora Aleta, and Guillermus Iulius Fortis. Much thanks to all involved; we hope you enjoy!))

Walking into the exam room with Timora, G had an arm wrapped around her "Don't worry....everything is going to be fine."

"Easy for you to say dear, it's not growing in your body." She gave him a look before shaking her head, rubbing at her eyes a bit wearily.

He helps her up onto the exam table "Would I ever put you through anything where I thought you were in danger?"

Timi shakes her head and sighs. "No dear you wouldn't. I know that for a fact". Her fingers fold on her lap, fidgeting and fumbling ever so slightly while she sighs out nervously. "How long do you think we'll be waiting. Issla said usually the doctors spend forty minutes making you wait and ten to examine you." "Besides," Guill persisted, "Anya trusts Dr. Ryan, and that's as good as me trusting him. I don't think he'll be that long."

Stas grins at the nurse who will shadow him throughout the procedure. She's a tiny blond who has a warm smile on her face. Pulling the chart out of the little box on the door, he knocks before opening the door and poking his head in. "Ok to come in?"

Timi nods again, her fingers fumbling on her lap a bit. At the knock Timi looks up, fumbling a bit more nervously/ excitedly while her lips pursed. Another visible gulp made as she looked to Guill to speak for her.

"It's safe, Doctor." Guill reassured, both. taking a seat near the exam table, to be near Timi

Stas can feel the nervousness of his patient and offers her a warm, soothing smile. The door opens and the two professionals enter, both wearing the mauve scrubs of the ob/gyn unit. Stas glances down at the chart, then offers his hand first to Guill. "I'm doctor Ryan, this is Meg."

The father to be shakes the Doctor's hand "It's a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Ryan....and you as well, Meg." He stands and offers his hand to Meg.

He nods and offers his hand to Timi. "Nice to meet the both of you." Meg shakes Guill's hand then reaches into the cabinet for a gown. "Just get changed into the gown and we'll be right back." He stepped back and nodded to Meg who also was gathering the drapes and setting the pelvic exam kit out.

Reassuring smile may have been given to calm her, but never the less when Timi worried, stressed, or fretted over anything it was not easily calmed. Guill knew that more than anyone. She drew in a breath while she sort of coiled into herself just slightly. Watching her husband greet the doctor and his assistant. When hand was offered a quivering hand was given in exchange. She then looked back at Guill then to the gown. The pelvic exam kit was given a very, very horrifying look from Timi who had never seen one in her life.

"I have to trust that this is for your own good, Timora....so we need to get you into the gown. Would you like me to turn around so that you have some semblance of privacy"

Timi gulped a bit before shaking her head. "No, it's fine. Is there a restroom I could use?" Asking the doctor as she casts another glance to the machine.

"You can change in here" He had said before stepping out, closing the door behind him as he went. He understood, fully, the woman's apprehension and did not want to make it any worse. He's dealt with nervous patients before and made small talk with Meg about exercising patience.

Timi nodded to them both before moving off the examination table. Her arms wriggled a bit as she squirmed first out of her shirt and slid the gown over her head and then wriggled out of her jeans. Still her apprehension showed as she made sure her clothing was secure with her husband.

Guill takes possession of her clothing, and sets them in a neat pile on a nearby chair.

Timi sits back on the table and exhales softly. "Okay..." Nodding to her husband softly. Guill leaned over to give Timora a reassuring kiss on the cheek.

Timi kissed his chin softly and exhaled a sigh. She had a sheepish smile when she glanced to the door and spoke. "He can come back again Guill."

"Okay." Guill opens the door to the room just a crack and peers into the hallway. Nervously waiting Timi gulps lightly and begins to fumble with her gown.

When Guill poked his head out, Stas and Meg returned to the exam room. Meg took her position between the exam table and the wall while Stas moved to the end of the table. He spoke directly to Timi, never once wavering in eye contact. "I'm going to explain everything I do to you before I do it, ok" There's nothing in here that will harm you. It may be a bit uncomfortable, but I promise you that it'll be over quickly if you relax and stay calm, ok?"

A small nod of understanding was given as she kept her eyes locked on the doctor. She was shaking a bit nervously, but answered never the less. "Okay." "Ok, now Meg's going to help you to lay back. Just relax." He nodded to Meg who placed her hands gently onto Timi's shoulders. As that was going on, Stas pulled the stirrups out of the end of the table. The ends were covered with black socks that had little bunnies embroidered on them.

As she lay back she eyed those bunnies a bit and sighed out. Timi was doing her best to relax while she lay there. She gulped softly and turned her gaze on Guill for a moment giving him a small smile before looking back to the doctor for the next instruction. Guill took a seat out of the way, there for moral support more than anything else. He smiled a small smile back to Timi.

Stas smiled warmly, then turned his attention to Guill. "Oh no you don't. You're just as much a part of this as she is. Stand by her side and hold her hand." He gestured to where he wanted Guill to stand. "And put her feet into the stirrups." He knew that Guill's familiar touch to her would help her relax even more.

Hearing the word stirrups made her a bit unsettled. She eyed the bunnies again and gulped lightly. Her eyes flickering between the nurse, doctor, and her husband once again.

Standing up, Guill walked over to Timi and Dr. Ryan. Slowly reaching down to her feet, lifting each one into the appropriate stirrup, then standing next to Timi, holding her hand, as the doctor requested.

Stas stepped back and watched as Guill did as instructed. Taking a deep breath, he stepped forward and gently placed his hands on Timi's knees. "Keep them together for now. We'll get to that in a little bit. I'm going to examine your breasts and stomach now, ok" I promise I won't hurt you. And if it gets to be too much, you tell me to stop, ok?"

She nodded a bit to Stas and squeezed her husband's hand. Swallowed lightly and she murmured softly. "Alright. That's fine." Timi was trying her best to be calm, though her hands were still shaking a bit. Guill squeezes her hand gently, reassuringly.

Meg lifted the gown and Stas' rubber covered and wam hands began his examination. First her breasts were gently handled, searching for lumps or any abnormalities. Then his hands glided over her stomach, gently pressing. "Tell me if it hurts, ok?"

She nodded to him softly and panted out weakly. Her frame shifted a bit while she closed her eyes. She squeezed her eyes tightly shut as she bit her lip. She gulped just a smidge, "Ok....A small bit.." He nodded and lifted his hands from her stomach. "That's normal, your insides are growing with the little one inside. A little pain and maybe some spotting in your underwear are perfectly normal." He nodded and Meg lay the gown back over her. "Not so bad, so far?"

Timi shook her head as she squeezed Guill's hand, "N....No." She gave a small smile to the doctor. Guill looks over to Timi, a smile on his face towards her, holding her hand gently, then looks to the doctor.

He removed the drape from her knees and took a step back. "Now for the daddy's part in all of this. Timi, I need you to let your knees fall to the side. Guill's going to be right here and won't let anything happen to you. I promise, it'll be ok."

A small gulp came again, her eyes closed tightly again as she nodded nervously. It took a moment or two while she lay there, a bit of quivering before she let them fall to the side.

Guill watched Timi and Dr. Ryan with a protective eye, making sure Timi is as comfortable as is practicable.

"That's very good. Now I'm going to appreciate the cervix and examine you externally." He moved forward and gently placed his hand down there. With a nod to Meg, he uttered a single word. "Medium." Then removed his hand. Meg reached into the cabinet and steam rose from it as she opened the drawer to draw out the metal speculum. "Now I know that's a scary looking thing, but I promise, it won't hurt." The exam kit was grabbed as Meg applied lubricant to the speculum. He opened the kit and lay out the cotton swab, opened the vial and then the small packet of slides.

Timi's frame shivered just a bit as she saw it. She gasped out lightly and she shifted for a moment. She gave a wide eyed look to the speculum and then looked at Guill with even wider eyes. Death grip was given to his hand in return.

Guill was holding on just as tight to her. "Timi, I'm sure Dr. Ryan would do nothing to hurt you. I trust him."

Gulping a bit, she took a deep breath, nodded, and closed her eyes. Her deep breaths taken over and over in attempt to calm herself. Soon her grip slacked and she nodded, "Okay." Stas took the speculum and placed his hand on her stomach, then poised it. "Just a little pressure, it's ok." He bit his lip in concentration as he inserted the warmed metal. With a flip of his thumb and a click, the instrument was in place. "There."

As the device was put in place, her eyes went wide and she gulped out a bit. Her frame shivers softly while she panted out weakly. She gripped at Guill's hand and gulped, giving a slight nod.

Guill maintained his grip on her hand, gently, and looks between her and the Doctor.

Quickly and efficiently, Meg handed Stas the tools needed to take a swab and culture. The entire procedure took no more than five minutes. The speculum was removed and the drape placed back over Timi's knees. "There, all done." he smiled to the both of them as Meg packaged the kit, labeled it and started to clean up. "I'll be back in a few minutes. Use the drape to clean any of the gel off and get dressed." He bowed slightly then disappeared out of the door.

Nodding a bit softly she then turned to look at Guill, another gulp given before she looked to the slings her feet rested in. She managed to murmur to Guill softly, "That device looked horrific." "It did look bad, but it seems to do the job." He helped her to get her feet out of the slings.

She slowly sat up, gulping just a smidge while she exhaled softly, "I hope so."She looked up to him, gulping softly after giving a small smile.

Guill brings over her clothes so that she might get changed.

Nodding her thanks to her husband she slid off the table and slowly began to dress, bit after bit. Soon she was sitting on the table, legs folded a bit tightly. Stas knocked and poked his head in. "Everything ok?" He smiled and stepped in, the door closed behind him. Meg had taken the kit to the lab. "Ok, I'm going to write you a prescription for prenatal vitamins. I've got some pamphlets that will explain what?s going on in your body." he smiled warmly to the pair. "Do you have any questions for me?" He sat on the rolling stool and dropped his prescription pad down onto the countertop.

Guill looks to his wife.

Timi looked back at her husband, knowing all too well what was running through his mind. She simply sighed and waited for it to come.

"Timi has not been sleeping well the last few days, nor has she been eating as much as she had been." Guill sounded worried.

Stas wrote out the prescription, then turned his big blue eyes onto Guill, nodding as he listened. Then he turned his friendly gaze onto Timi. "Do you have any reservations about drinking alcohol?" he'd get to the appetite thing in a moment.

She gulped a bit, nodding softly while she pursed her lips, "Drinking is not something I approve of, no." He nodded and smiled at the same time. "Try a glass of white wine before you go to bed. It'll relax you and won't hurt the baby." he sat back then and canted his head slightly. "Have you been sick to your stomach a lot?"

She nodded to the doctor while she swallowed softly, "Very sick actually." She answered, "It's been sort of constant visits to the bathroom....Especially after I eat."

He cleared his throat and wrote into her chart. "What kind of foods have you been eating?" He lifted his blue eyes to the pair. "Anything spicy or greasy?"

"I try to cook relatively healthily, for the most part. Though it may be a tad on the spicy side." Guill offered up.

"That gossip writer has nothing to do with my appetite either Guill." She pursed her lips, "I just haven't been feeling well. I just don't want to make a mess of things."

"Tone down on the spices a bit." He nodded with a smile. "And try eating some saltine crackers when you wake up. I had to have a sleeve of them on the nightstand for AJ for the first few months." He frowned then and canted his head. "Don't let idle gossip upset you, Timi. What's important is that you stay calm and happy." he smiled again and lifted a chart. "Would you like to see how tiny your little one is right now?"

She blinked a bit at that, gulping softly before glancing towards Guill and then back at Dr. Ryan, "Can you do that?" "I can do that, I think." Guill spoke of the spice amount in the food he prepared. "Good." He held up the chart and pointed out the tiniest drawing. "Right there, that's how tiny it is, right now." He smiled and held up the chart for them to both examine.

Guill takes a look at the chart, his hand instinctively resting on Timora's tummy.

She smiled softly, her eyes on the chart while she drew in a breath, "It's so small." Her hand moved over Guill's while she smiled to him softly. Her eyes locked on his and she smiled to her husband.

That single gesture of Guill's brought a broad smile to his face. Chuckling softly, he took the chart and placed it into Timi's hand. "I suggest you start a journal, both of you. Times like this can be a bit overwhelming and it's good to write down your thoughts and feelings." He nodded and then rose. "Remember, lots of fluids, cut back on the spices and eat saltines." He nodded then. "Any other questions?"

Guill looked at Timora.

"When can the genetic test be taken to confirm that Guill is the father?" She squeezed at Guill's hand while she drew in a deep breath. She looked to her husband and then back to Stas.

"I didn't know that was in question." he glanced between the two. "Well we can test Guill right now. Cotton swab to the inside of his cheek to get the genetic material we need. In a few months we can do an amnio to confirm the match in material." He leaned against the door then. "You're not sure he's the father?"

"I'm positive he's the father; it's others who aren't quite sure." She was back to gripping her husband's hand with that death grip. Her frustration and anger at what was said about her began to show quite a bit.

He grasps Timi's hand, then speaks to the Doctor. "The pink-haired one insinuated that Timora was less than faithful."

Stas shook his head and pushed off of the door. A cabinet was opened up and he pulled a DNA test vial from it. "Sad thing." He opened the vial and held the cotton swab mid-air. "Open wide."

Guill opens wide for the doctor.

Her lips were pursed a bit more, her eyes turned on Guill while she watched him. Her hand squeezed at his again.

Stas gently swabs the inside of his cheek, then places the swab into the vial, capping it tightly. Bringing out a Sharpie, he writes Guill's name on it. "Honestly, what you two think and know is all that's important. Please, try to stay calm during your pregnancy. Unneeded stress is not good for either of you, ok?" He turned his caring eyes towards Timi. "Promise you'll take some deep breaths when you start feeling upset?"

"What about working in the kitchen?" She pursed her lips ever so slightly and gulped. She looked to her husband while she gave him a soft smile," I work open to close with Guill, is that okay?"

"As long as you don't overdo it. If you get tired, take a break." He turned to Guill and gave him a direct order. "She gets a five minute break every hour, and an hour lunch, ok?" He then turned his smile back onto Timi. "You should be able to maintain your normal routine, just try to take it easy. If your ankles and feet start to swell, sit down and put them up. Drink lots of water."

She nodded to Stas softly. Her smile formed while she shifted to slide off the examination table, "Okay, just no gender talk okay' I don't want Guill to know the gender or myself." She nodded lightly. "Works for me." Guill agreed.

"You've got a deal." he smiled warmly and extended his hand to her. "It's been a pleasure. And I'll see both of you tomorrow at the auction?"

She reached out, shook his hand before tilting her head," What's the auction for?"

Guill shook his head, no, "I will be there to set up. I cannot stay long as I have my calling shift to work."

"The auction is for the studio that Amelia works at. They are trying to raise funds to get more students. It'll be a good time." His hand slipped from hers to offer Guill the same warm handshake. "As long as the food's there, everything'll be gold." He chuckled.

Guill gives the doctor a firm handshake.

"We also have my sister's birthday to handle as well. It will be a busy day tomorrow indeed." She nodded lightly while her hand moved to rest over her stomach. She exhaled again and shifted," Excuse me please....Where's the restroom?"

Stas took a step back and opened up the door. "Follow the hall until it dead ends. The door is right there." He held the door open for them. Handing her chart over to Guill, he smiled again. "The nurse will schedule your next appointment. Don't forget to take your vitamins. Next time we'll do some blood work to see if you need more than what the vitamins can offer."

Timi rushed past Stas while she gulped weakly. She continued to rush along at a quick rate. her face was green and she managed to pushed past nurses and patients to get to the bathroom before she blew.

Guill took the chart from Stas. "Thank you, Dr. Ryan. If you'll excuse me, I think I need to check on my wife."

"Crackers," he nodded, a pat to Guill's shoulder. "Not much more we can do than that. Don't worry though, another few weeks and the sickness part will be gone." He nodded with confidence. With that, he turned and walked back towards his office, closing the door behind him.

Guill carried Timora into Riverview, having taken her there in his cart. She was quite passed out in the cart. A sort of sweat on her brow, but for once it looked like she was relaxed.

Stas was passing through the lobby as Timi was carried in. His cup of coffee quickly abandoned as he rushed to Guill's side. "What's happened?" His hand went to Timi's wrist as he watched her chest to see if it moved. Her chest rose and fell, just fine. Her pulse was faint, almost as if she was in a deepened sleep. She wasn't responsive at all, to either the noise around her or the fact that her husband carrying her.

Guill replied with a worried waver to his voice. "She has passed out. I think she has been working way too hard."

"Working?" He shot Guill a glance and guided him to an exam room. "Thought the rule was that she was to take breaks, regular breaks and keep her feet up?" He pulled out a gown and drapes and gestured to the table, where he wanted Guill to place her. He grabbed the thermometer and dragged it over her forehead and behind one ear. Her fevor was a little high, not too much though. She was passed out quite hard, because she didn't notice the change from her husband's arms to the table's surface. Setting her down on the table, Guill replied, "I did do that, as much as I could."

He read the thermometer before placing it back in its stand. "Help me to get her undressed." he was loathe to use the shears that could cut through leather. He knew women had special attachments to certain garments. He reached behind himself for the blood pressure cuff and placed his stethoscope into his ears.

Guill slowly undressed Timi as far as he can safely do without risking her modesty.

Stas placed the cuff on her arm and began to fill it with air by pumping. "Come on, she doesn't have anything either of us has never seen before. Just get them off and put the gown over her." He nodded and then listened closely to the sound of her pulse as it faded away, then boomed in his ears as the pressure from the cuff was slowly released.

Guill put the gown over her as instructed by the doctor.

Stethoscope was removed from his ears and placed around his neck before removing the cuff from her arm. He started to write her vitals down on a piece of paper, as her chart was nowhere near him. Reaching to her hand, he gently pinched her skin on the back of her hand. If it remained tented, she was dehydrated. If it bounced back, then she wouldn't need fluids. It slightly bounced back. Working hard, made her quite the stubborn woman. She drank when she had time to and not always water.

It'd been a long time since Stas had placed an IV in a patient's arm, but he could still do it. Saline with ringer's was brought out of the cabinet and a sharp was pulled from a drawer. "You're not squeamish about needles, are you?" He held up the pink plastic sheathed needle.

"I'm not." Guill looked on with a worried expression. Oh dear lord she was so lucky she was asleep. Needles would just be reason for her to be restrained.

"Ok." he nodded and placed the needle and bag of fluid on the little metal tray beside the exam table. A rubber tourniquet was placed around Timi's forearm. The back of her hand was tapped until Stas was satisfied that he found a vein. Timi was still not quite responsive, though her fingers twitched a bit at the concentration to her arm.

Guill saw the twitch, and then looks to Stas.

He saw the twitch and he breathed a bit of a sigh of relief. She'd responded to pain. Grateful he didn't have to rub his knuckle down her breastbone. That usually left a nasty bruise. He slipped the needle from it's sheath and with a gentle push, and pop, the needle found it's way into the vein. He taped it off and attached the bag of fluid by it's long rubber tubing. The bag was hung and he reinforced the taped needle with more tape to keep it in place. "I'm going to draw blood, have tests run. It shouldn't take long." His hand went to her stomach then, to see if it were rigid or soft and he found it was tender, soft to the touch except where it needed to be hard, especially where protection of the little one mattered. She was still twitching a bit in her fingers, not liking the sensation of the needle in the slightest. Even her frame began to wiggle as her stomach was tested. He had put the fluids on to full bore, to get it into her system as quickly as possible. "Good." he nodded and then looked up at Guill. "So what?s this about working too much?" The phlebotomist's tray was reached for from the counter and he pulled three vials from the little basket.

"I suspect that she had been working harder when I was not there to watch her." He kept his worried gaze on Timora.

He nodded and pressed the vial into one end of the needle as crimson spurted into the glass. "She's not listening to you?" The vial filled quickly and was removed. He shook it gently then lay it on the table next to Timi. Another vial repeated the procedure. "SHe listens to me when I'm there. Heck, I'm taking breaks along with her to make sure."

Timi's brow furrowed, her feet kicked slightly as she sqirmed. She shook her head in her sleep for a moment while she tried to roll over. Stas put his hands upon her shoulders once the vials were filled and labelled. "She's going to roll right off this table." he sighed. "Hold her down while I run this to the lab." He was doing the job of the phlebotomist, the nurse and the doctor, all in one. But he was the kind of doctor that didn't mind at all. "I think the fluids are bringing her around, but do not let her get up."

"Okay then." Guill's hands replaced Stas' upon Timi's shoulders to keep her from rolling off of the narrow exam table.

Stas nodded and left Timi in Guill's hands as he left the exam room.

Her eyes started to open, her throat clearing dryly as she squirmed and wriggled again. Her lips pursed as she tried to sit up. Eyes a bit bleary.

"Dear, just stay lying down." He kept his hands firmly on her shoulders.

"Guill?" She shifted a bit and squirmed," Where am I" Why does my arm itch?" "You're at Riverview. Issla found you passed out in the kitchen, and Anya had me bring you here."

She let her head flop back on the table, wincing a moment later," Ah hell." The lab was quick and efficient at getting Stas the preliminary results from the blood work. The cultures and such would have to wait a few days, but he had enough to go back to his patient. Opening the door, he held her chart in it. "Low blood sugar, anemia. Would you like to explain to me just what you think you're doing?" Stas sat down on the rolling chair and looked at Timi.

Timi frowned as she saw the doctor roll on forwards. She looked up at the lights and sighed out just a bit," Working by my husband's side. We just opened up a second kitchen, not all the staff is trained."

He nodded and closed the chart. "Ok, here's how it's going to work. You, my dear lady, are going to stay off of your feet from here on out. No lifting anything over fifteen pounds. No staying on your feet for more than fifteen minutes." He looked straight into her eyes, his tone and demeanor meant that he was all business. "If you do not follow doctor's orders, you will be putting yourself and the little one in danger. And that's against medical advice. Insurance companies don't like that very much." He glanced back down at her chart. "Been taking your vitamins?"

She nodded to him about the vitamins," Yeah, Guill won't let me not take them, and I won't let myself not take them." She was a bit surprised at the way the doctor was taking it. Stas blew out a breath and folded the chart closed. "We'll put a monitor on your stomach the next time you come in. You should be able to hear the heartbeat by then." He nodded and sat back. "Bed rest for a week, are we clear?" He didn't mean to sound harsh, but he knew no other way to get through to his stubborn patients.

"Clear." She nodded a bit, her frame lowering back on the table with a sigh," I just didn't think it was that bad." She frowned as she finally took a look at her arm and then looked away. She hated needles. "It was bad enough to land you in here. I'd rather see you in my office than an ER exam room. If you don't take care of your body, how do you expect it to take care of the baby?" He rose from his chair then. "Malnutrition can lead to gestational diabetes. That may not mean much to you, but do you really want a twenty pound baby?" Ok, so he was exaggerating, just a little. "Dehydration can....well it can cause bad things to happen. We don't want that, do we?"

Shaking her head, she looked up at her husband apologetically before giving the same look to her doctor. Timi was really getting the awakening," I understand. I'm sorry."

Guill was listening to the doctor and Timi equally.

"Good." he smiled then and placed the chart onto the counter. "I'm admitting you, over night. Just for precautionary measures. We want to keep an eye on you to make sure that you're ok."

She nodded to him softly," Can Guill stay?" She said from her spot as her eyes shifted to her husband.

"Of course, we can set him up a cot in your room." He glanced between them. "No funny business tonight. She's had too much stress as it is." He shook his head. "I'll have a couple of nurses come and put you into a gurney. And I'll check on you in the morning if they don't call on me to do so later tonight."

She nodded to the doctor and murmured," Thank you."

He nods to the Doctor. "I'll make sure to keep an eye on her."

He put his hand on Guill's shoulder. "You need to rest, too. Just let the nurses do their job. You're there for moral support." He stepped away then and almost turned towards the door. "Oh, how's the nausea?"

"I think that it hasn't particularly improved, from what I have seen." Guill answered for Timi.

He nodded slowly, but there wasn't much more that could be done. "And the insomnia?"

"The nausea sucks, the insomnia," a shrug,."The usual. Hard to sleep at nights." She said as she looked to her husband, "And he's been so wonderful, trying to help every step of the way. But when I can't sleep and he is, I just slip out of bed and clean or anything else I can find to do." "Stop nesting so much. If you can't sleep at least lay still. Eventually it'll come. You've seen what happens if you don't get enough rest. You're body forces it upon you." He smiled and opened up the door. "I'll see you two in the morning. I've a pregnant wife at home who has paged me twice since we've started this little adventure." He stepped out of the door and gave the chart to the nurse. He left Timi's care in their capable hands before heading home to his wife.

Guill walks with Timi into Riverview for one of those regular checkups. "Now you know Dr. Ryan always means the best....there's nothing to be nervous about."

She was fumbling a bit and biting her lip nervously. Her eyes shot to Guill," I'm sure there will be more for me to be yelled at about."

"But you've followed doctor's orders - he won't yell at you for that."

"I know, but we'll see." She was shifting in one of the waiting seats," So uncomfortable."

He sits by his wife's side. "Everything will be alright dear. Trust me."

She side glanced to him," Says you."

Rests a hand on her tummy. "I'm sure little Gaius is fine."

The nurse pops out of the door and smiles, clutching a chart to her chest. "Timi, please come on back now." She stood with the door open and waited for Timi and Guill. When led to the room, there was a gown waiting for her on the bed.

She gulped a bit and nodded to the nurse. She stood up and started to the room. When she saw the gown on the bed she sighed and meandered towards the changing area. She changed quickly and moved to plop on the bed.

Guill walks with his wife, and stands next to the bed. Sneaking a kiss to her cheek, he was trying to make sure she's as comfortable as possible.

That was most likely not going to happen. She glanced towards Guill, fidiging quite a bit. She had more color, looked healthier, even weighed in more. She was gulping a bit nervously and looking down at her tummy," Do I have to do this?"" She asked very nervously.

Stas walked into the room, smiling at the pair. "Well hello, strangers." He pulled up the rolling stool and put the chart onto the countertop. Opening it up, he sat down and glanced it over. "So how are we doing?" The nurse that had followed him in was busy taking Timi's blood pressure and temperature. She'd be weighed later.

Guill smiles to Stas. "I've been making sure Timi is not working herself to death."

"He won't even let me work." She stated with a frown, "I've been bored as hell and hungier than ever. Still getting sick and I can't keep my eyes open at times. I'm either wide awake and hyperactive or I'm passing out where I am. No matter how comfortable it is."

"Well that's a good thing. At least you are resting now. Still have the insomnia at night?" He pulled his pen out of the lab coat pocket and clicked it open. He made a note in the chart, then lifted big blue eyes to look over at the potential parents.

"Yes." She answered the doctor, shifting a bit to get a glance at her chart. She was wondering oh so badly what was there," I usually end up going to bed around four am.."

"Your body will let you know when it's time to rest. Naps are good, and being awake at night isn't such a bad thing. When the baby is born, you'll be up feeding the little thing every two hours or so." he shrugged with a smile. "So it's really no worry. Still taking the prenatal vitamins?"

She nodded to him," Twice a day as you ordered." Timi shifted nervously.

"Good girl." He kept that warm, professional smile on his face. "Anything else worrying you? I'll do the exam in a bit. Just want to hear your questions and concerns."

"Any way you can convince Guill to let me work again?" She asked with a small glance towards her husband.

He put his pen down and turned so that he faced her. His hands went to his own knees. "Now Timi. After you worked yourself into unconsciousness, I don't think that'll be a good idea. I'm sure your husband has capable hands to help him with what he needs done. And he does not need to be worrying that his wife and child may be in danger. Sorry, but I'm with him on this one."

She knew the doctor was right on every level. She even gulped a bit, but nevertheless, she sighed and nodded softly in agreement with him," Oh alright. Very well."

"If it is okay with you, Dr. Ryan, I could put her on light duty." Guill interjected."Nothing strenuous, just to ease her boredom."

His brows rose a notch and he turned to look at Guill. "I can't tell you what to do and what not to do. But you remember what happened last time you had her on light duty' She worked herself until she passed out. If you can keep an eye on her and make her rest, then I'll sign off on it. If not, then I won't put my name on a note that says she can work. It'll be against medical advice." he didn't mean to sound stern, but his first concern was his patient's health, not her level of entertainment or amusement.

Her hands lifted and she shook her head," Guillermus it's alright. I think the doctor has mine and the baby's health at heart with this issue."

"Alright then, it looks like it's rest for you then. Issla and I will have our hands full with the crew."

"I understand dear. Don't worry about it." She shrugged," I'll just have to pick up a hobby."

"Hobbies are a good idea. Just as long as you're not on your feet too long." He smiled again and relaxed. "Any spotting or unusual discharge?"

Her head shook a bit," No..." She had to think for a moment, but her head shook again," No."

"Good." He nodded and put down the chart. Picking up a tape measure, he stood up. "Now, if you'll lay back, I need to take some measurements."

She nodded softly, shifted, then lay back. From this view, which she had hardly noticed, there was a small bump forming on her abdomen. She drew in a deep breath and swallowed softly.

He took the measuring tape and held the end at her pubic bone, and brought it up to the top of the bump. With a frown, he measured again. "Your fundal height seems pretty high. Let me check your numbers, you may be further along than we anticipated." Or multiple birth, but he wasn't going to say that, just yet. "Relax, it's ok." He turned then and went back to her chart to figure up the numbers again.

She closed her eyes a bit. Her breathing deepened a bit while she lay there. She swallowed nervously. For the first time, she was actually scared for the baby. Which was a bad thing, yes, but at least now her heart was in the right place.

"Dear, it's going to be okay....I promise." Guill tried to sound as reassuring as he could.

Guill saying that, didn't really help. She sort of nodded and gave a small sob. She was now very horrified.

"Let's see, last menstrual cycle was beginning of July, conceived around the fifteenth..." He murmured to himself and shook his head. "I'm going to do an ultrasound, just to make sure everything's alright." He smiled to the two of them. "I mean, you and the baby are fine. I just think my numbers might be a little off."

"Um, Dr. Ryan?"

"Yeah?" Already Stas was pulling the ultrasound cart over and wheeling it to her bedside.

"I hate to tell you this, but I am confident your numbers are off."

"Why do you say that?" He sat back and rested his arm on the handle of the machine.

"Timi and I were not married until the beginning of August."

"Okay." He nodded and turned the machine on, letting it warm the jelly. "Well then her fundal height is still too high. I want to take a look. It won't hurt and you'll be able to hear the heartbeats."

Her hands went to her eyes, by now she was silently crying. She sniffled slightly and shook her head," I was acting so stupid....I probably hurt the baby...There's something wrong.." She was panicking.

Stas saw the tears, and looked at Guill. "It'll be alright, Timi. I'm sure there's nothing wrong. Just watch the screen. You'll see just like I do." He picked up the bottle of jelly and squirted a bit onto her baby bump.

She sniffled a bit and nodded, her eyes looked at the screen, but she was still wiping quite a bit at her eyes. Her fingers trembling.

Guill was watching the screen along with his wife, holding onto her hand lightly.

When he put the wand to her belly, he adjusted the screen with the other hand. The room was filled with the sound of a squishing sound, water moving, then the quick, rhythmic sound of a heart beating. "Hear that?" He smiled to the both of them. "Good, strong heart beat."

Hearing the heart beat she sobbed out. She squeezed Guill's hand as she laughed out softly with joy. Her eyes still locked fully on that screen," It better.."

"Listening in amazement, and looking to his wife, a slight tear coming to his eyes.

Stas couldn't help the smile that came across his face. He loved that moment when fear turned to utter joy. He saw it in both of their faces and a bit of pride settled onto his shoulders as he turned to watch the monitor. Moving the wand around on her belly, suddenly the heart beat had an echo. "What's this?" He peered into the screen and moved the wand once more. "Well, that explains it."

Guill's eyes shoot to Stas. "What seems to be wrong?"

She sat up a bit frantically," What"!" Her eyes were wide, larger than large.

"Lay back." He gently, but firmly put his hand on Timi's shoulder, forcing her back. He found the position and locked the screen so that there were the echos once again. "Well," He turned to the two frightened faces. "The good news is that she's just fine." He nodded with a grin. "And the other news is that so are the babies. Both of them."

Guill's jaw dropped. "Wait. Both of them?"

Timi sort of locked her eyes on the doctor then. Her jaw dropped and she blinked. She spluttered a bit then gulped. She would have asked, but her husband beat her to it.

"Yes, you're having twins." He nodded then pointed out the shadowy figures on the screen. "Baby A, Baby B."

Her lips parted as she gasped out. She locked her eyes on the screen and then turned to look back to Stas," Twins" Twins?" Now she was really going to cry.

"Yes, twins." He nodded and settled back onto the stool.

Guill looks towards his wife, leaning to kiss her on the cheek, smiling to her.

She looked to Guill and sobbed out slightly," Twins..." She wiped her eyes and glanced back to the screen," Two....Already.." A small laugh before she sat up again and before Stas could blink, he was hugged," Thank you."

Stas was making measurements of fluid levels and the sizes of the babies when suddenly he was grabbed from behind. He turned quickly and gave her a pat on the back, startled as he was. "You're very welcome."

She pulled back from him, shifted, and lay back down. A small giggle came," S....sorry." She wiped her eyes a bit and sniffled," I can't believe it."

"It's alright." He smiled and went back to his measurements. Pictures were printed and he presented them to Guill. "Babies' first pictures. Show them off, Dad." He smiled and removed the wand from Timi's belly. "Just wipe off with the gown."

He smiles to Stas. "I suppose I can do that."

She nodded and did so. Her fingers running over her tummy a moment later. She wiped her eyes and sniffled lightly. Doing her best not to bawl with joy.

Guill took the pictures with his right hand, his arm wrapped around his wife, grinning. "I love you, my dear."

"I love you too Guillermus.." She looked at the pictures and then to Stas," Just whatever you do, don't give him anything that could help him figure out the genders."

Stas smiled and put away the equipment, making sure it was wiped down. He had printed a copy of the pictures for her file and was preparing to leave the room. "From the pictures we've got, I can't tell. And on the next ultrasound, I'll be able to tell, but if you don't want to know, then I won't say." He smiled again. "Definitely, stay off of your feet and drink a lot of water. Twins are considered high risk. So you take care of yourself until next time, Alright?"

She nodded to him, wiped her eyes, and smiled brightly," Thank you so much!" She put both hands on her tummy and looked down at it. She giggled softly," I still can't believe it."

And with that, Stas slipped out of the room, onto his next patient.

Timora

Date: 2009-12-26 00:13 EST
Guillermus walked with Timora into the by now-familiar examination room, a smile on his lips, looking to his wife.

Timora smiles to him, both hands on her stomach. She moves and snags up the little gown awaiting her. With a small smile to him, she makes her way into the bathroom to change.

On the way to the restroom, a nurse with blond hair, a friendly smile and a name tag that said "Candy" held out a cup to Timora. "Ma'am, Doctor Ryan is requesting a urine sample."

He patiently awaits his wife's changing, almost standing guard in front of the door.

When she steps out of the bathroom she smiles to him. Her clothes neatly folded in her arms. She looks to the nurse and nods," Oh alright." She reaches out, taking the cup and turning back into the bathroom.

When she was done she stepped back out, clothes tucked under one arm and a half full cup in the other. She held it out to the nurse with a small smile," Here you go."

"Thank you." Candy smiled and then turned to place the specimen into the cabiniet for analysis. Then she turend back to Timi. "How are you feeling today?" She quickly assessed vitals, blood pressure, temperature and weight. She was quick and efficient.

"I'm still getting a bit queezy." She smiled a bit, her hand rubbing at her stomach slowly. A light shift came and her body leaned back," Also having a hard time staying awake at times."

"I'm sure you'll be fine. Just get comfortable and the doctor will be in momentarily." She smiled to the couple then slid quietly from the room.

She nodded, laying back on the table. Her hands rubbed at her stomach slowly. Her eyes closed for a moment, sighing out smally," Guill?"

Guill put his hand on Timi's stomach, smiling. "Yes, my love?"

"Are you doing alright?" Her head tilted to the side, her fingers running over his hand for a moment.

"I think I am....the holiday season has me running ragged, but I'm doing okay."

A smile curled up on her lips, fingers lacing with his," You'll be fine right?" A small frown formed on her lips," You just need to relax a bit."

"I'm sure I will be fine, dear..." A smile forms on his lips...."And I'll relax once the holidays are over with."

"Good advice, for both of you." Stas strode into the room, Timi's file in hsi hand. He'd overheard just Timi giving Guill advice about taking it easy. "So, how are the two of, wait, the four of you today?" He gave a crooked grin and sat down on the rolling stool. The chart was placed on the counter and he opened it up.

"I can only speak for myself - the holidays have been quite busy at the Cucina, but I'm making sure Timi doesn't overexert herself."

"I'm am feeling a bit sleepy again." She answered," And they're making me eat like a demon." Timi smiled softly, both hands still running over her stomach," I sit in an office chair half the day, the other half is spent at home resting."

Stas nodded, listening and scribbling into the chart. "That's really good, on both parts. "The sleepiness is just your body becoming adjusted to the twins. Your blood work came back perfectly normal. Slightly anemic, but the prenatal vitamins should be taking care of that." He put down his pen. "We took an ultrasound last month, so I'm going to put that off for a bit. But there are other things I need to measure. The size of your belly, for one." He grinned and picked up the tape measure. "Ready?"

She looked at the tape and nodded softly," Ready." Her body sat up a bit, sighing out softly and smiling a bit," Things like bending over are getting harder to do too."

"And you hardly showing. Lay back." He took hem of the gown and lifted it to just below her breasts. The tape was held just beneath her breast bone and he extended down to her pelvic bone. "Just on time." He nodded with a grin. Tossing the tape to the counter, he then moved his hands around her stomach. "Ah, there you are." He pressed gently to assess the fundus. "Guill, would you like to feel where your babies are?" He grinned at the husband.

He grins right back to the doctor. "Of course I would."

She smiled softly," When will I be showing more?" Her eyes closing while Stas pressed a bit on her stomach," It's been almost five months hasn't it?"

Stas took Guill's hand and guided it until the cantaloupe sized uterus could be felt. "Some women show from day one, others take their time. You'll be pounching out soon. And yes, that's a word." He chuckled as he watched the faces of the young couple.

A smile, as the doctor guided his hand to Timora's womb...a tear coming to his eye just a bit, as it is still sinking in for him.

"When will they be moving?" She was just full of questions today. Her breath was drawn in, sharply," Cold..." She squeaked a bit towards Guill's hands," Your hands are cold."

"I'm sorry, my dear....I had not thought to properly warm them, as it is a bit nippy today."

"It's alright." She smiled to him, putting her hands over his.

"You've not felt them move yet?" He rolled back to the counter and picked up the pen. "Nothing like champagne bubbles or anything like that in your belly?" He canted his head to the side and gazed upon her, curiously.

Her head shook a bit," Not really. Just been sick a lot." As she answered she took on a tone of worry," Is that bad" That's bad right' That's bad isn't it"!" And there goes the panic.

He looks to Timora. "Timi, I'm sure it's perfectly normal....nothing to panic over."

"Calm down. Maybe they're moving during your sleep." He stood up and stuck his head out of the room for a moment. Conversing with a nurse, he nodded then slipped back inside. "I'm going to have you drink some orange juice. See what happens then." He tried to sound as calm and reassuring as he could.

She didn't look reassured. Her head lowered a bit and she looked at her stomach," What will orange juice do?"

"Well, it'll put sugar into your blood stream very quickly. The babies will get the sugar and it should wake them up. You should feel at least bubbly in your belly. It's hard to describe, as I've never felt it. But some patients said it feels like butterflies under your skin. It's called quickening." He smiled to the nurse who brought in the bottle of orange juice. "Set her up on monitors. I"ll be back." He gave them all a nod and left the nurse to strap Timi into the monitors.

He's listening to the doctor a bit, making a mental note to make sure Timora drinks her orange juice.

She began to drink from the juice, a small look being given to Guill while she frowned a bit. She swallowed a bit down and drew in a breath. Tears were blotting at her eyes," If I hadn't been so stupid I'm sure they would be moving right now. What if what I did hurt them?" This was a usual hormoanal episode for her, Guill should be quite used to it.

The nurse had finished attaching the monitors and laid a hand on Timi's shoulder. "Lay back, please." A curious look came over her face, thin lines creased between her brows. "How did you hurt the babies?" She glanced between Guill and Timi, her mouth setting into a firm line.

"Timora, I am sure that if you had been overworking to the point to which you harmed them, Dr. Ryan would have found it by now....I believe they are fine."

Her hands were wiping at her eyes while she lay back," I was working myself to black out point at the beginning of my pregnacy." A weak sob left her lips.

The nurse's grip was strong, yet gentle, on Timora's shoulder. "There, there, it's alright. Listen." She turned up the volume on the monitor and the dual heart beats could be heard, loud and regular. "They're just asleep, darlin'. It'll be alright." Her voice had a high pitched southern twang to it.

He slowly smiles to his wife, looking into her eyes, his hand reaching for hers.

She nodded, squeezing Guill's hand and sipping more at her juice. A weak sniffle left her lips while she whispered out to him," I hope the juice works."

"Give it about a half hour." The nurse smiled, then slipped out of the room.

"I can't take this. I know that I could have hurt them Guill." She looked at her husband, a small head shake following.

"I have faith that you did not, Timi..." He leans in to give her a soft kiss on the lips. "Everything is going to be alright."

She nodded again, giving a small sip to the juice and then gruadually a few more gulps until she was done. Laying back, she sighed, trying her best not to start crying her eyes out again.

Stas stepped back into the room and closed the door behind him. He watched the monitor for a moment before turning towards Timi. He had a handful of a dark, marble object. "Now, you listen to me. Getting upset and crying over every little thing will only cause you more stress. And the more stress you're under, the more stress the babies are over. You need to learn to calm yourself. Now, have you felt anything at all since you drank the orange juice?"

A small sniffle came while her head shook softly. Her eyes were locked on him while she swallowed softly. She shook her head, drawing in a deep calming breath," No, nothing."

"Ok, if they're going to be stubborn about it." Stas rolled over and hefted the rectangular marble paperweight up onto the table. "This is going to be very cold. I put it in the freezer last night." He put the paperweight onto her stomach and watched. For a moment, the room was completely silent and there was no movement, what so ever. Then, in a movement so rapid that if you blinked you missed it, the bulge of her stomach quickly shifted downwards, then thrust upwards to dislodge the paperweight. "I'd say we got a couple of lazy prize fighters on our hands." Stas grinned and picked the paperwieght up off of the floor.

Guill smiled a slight smile, seeing the paperweight land onto the floor.

A loud squeak pushed from her lips. Her eyes went wide and a hand moved to her stomach. She giggled softly and bit her lips softly," Lazy Prize fighters indeed."

"I think we're done for the day." he chuckled and placed the paperweight onto the counter. "Make an appointment for another month from today. Drink lots of fluids the day and night before. Going to take another ultrasound." Reaching up, he loosened the belts around Timi's waist to remove the monitors.

She nodded softly, her eyes still on her stomach. Brows rose upwards and she looked to Stas," Do you think they would react to music?"

"Oh yes." He nodded with a smile. "It's been a proven fact that they do react to music. You can buy headphones that fit over your belly and play all the music you like. From what I understand, the test results show that babies born listening to rock and roll or heavy metal end up having higher SAT scores." He grinned and did a little head banging. With a laugh, he got up from the stool. "I"ll see you in a month. Take care you two." And he slipped from the door.

A slight snicker, seeing the headbanging. "So long, Dr. Ryan..."

"What's rock and roll?" That one stumped the Olympian before she sat up and sighed out," I'll go get changed." Smiling to her husband," Think you could make the appointment in the mean time?"

"Absolutely....I;ll arrange for it before we leave today."
