The scarlet speedster stepped in as fast as the doors would allow and commandeered an empty gurney and laid the fur-covered Karadesh Sovanii gently on it before turning to whomever was on duty at the front desk. "Head wound. Concussion, cranial swelling, and shock. Sorry, but there'll be more."

He was back out the door in a matter of moments, returning several minutes later with Isuelt DeRomiano. Another gurney was made use of, with a faint grunt as he carefully laid the woman down. "Got hit in the back with an energy blast and had a damn wall fall on her. Not sure how bad. A healer did a little; don't know how much." He paused before leaving and added, "Take care of her."

He was back several times, carrying those who had been hurt simply for being in the marketplace at the wrong time, and he was not alone in bringing the injured to Riverview.

Ebon Ilnaren

Opening the doors of the Riverview emergency room with a mental nudge, Ebon carried the 6'2" form of Vixen, one of the Scathachian Sisters, into the clinic. "Another from the Marketplace here." He laid her on a gurney, as so many others had been in such a short time. "Not sure about the full extent of her injuries, but she got tossed about by at least one missile explosion. Alive, but unconscious." Giving a grim smile to those handling triage, he glanced about but didn't find the one he sought. "Isuelt....how is she?"

After being assured that she was receiving care, Ebon relaxed for a moment. It didn't last long.

He felt a familiar presence behind him and turned to see Eregor standing there. "The nurse said that Is-" Then he spied what his friend carried, cradled in the crook of his arm. At first it seemed like a broken doll, until realization struck and his dark eyes widened in memory.

....Brian snatching the infant from her fleeing mother ....slicing into the baby's back as she cried, as she screamed....

Coming back to the now, Ebon held the images of those moments in his mind as he slowly turned in place, searching the faces in the ER as they waited for treatment. Then he turned back to Eregor. "The mother is here, in a chair, back corner," he said softly. "I can take her."

"No." The timewalker shook his head solemnly. "You need to get out of here, Ebon. Go home. Be with your love, your children. Remind yourself of the humanity within your heart, the humanity that those who did this," and he glanced down at his burden, "have abandoned." Eregor moved past Ebon, towards the young woman in the back corner.

She looked up, horror in her face, and her eyes locked on what had once been her daughter. "...Sorna?"

With a heavy sigh, Ebon made his way out of the Clinic, hearing the wailing cries of a mother mourning her child behind him.

The noise of falling debris and exploding rock had far subsided, but in her head. The warrior was reliving the battlefield in her visions behind closed eyes. The image of Brian Ravenlock turning loose a horde of ghouls, ripping a baby from the arms of its mother, killing innocents while he gleefully cackled. The fountain exploding, water and mortar raining down from the sky without prejudice, without mercy. Renna and her enhanced minions: death dealers whose technology far outweighed even the mighty blades of the Scathachians. And the glider with its rider of orange and blue; that yellow face. The face she never saw coming.

Isuelt grimaced in mental and physical pain as she dreamt of the blast that hit her from behind and the wall subsequently falling down upon her. She could smell the sickly sweet scent of her own charred flesh in her nostrils. Her voice was no more than a whimper as she incoherently called out something into the pillow that was pressed against her cheek, her lungs gasping for air as the dream came to an explosive close. Her dark lashes parted with a start. She was lying on her side, nearly on her stomach. The smell of burned flesh had waned, but she swore she could still sense it. There were other beds in her line of vision. She thought she saw Vixen in the next bed, lying on her back, clean white sheets covering the sleeping Scathachian. She tried to move to get a better look when a stabbing pain erupted from her back through each of her four limbs.

Her face screwed into one of silent resolve as she weathered the wave of pain which began to lessen as she stopped moving. She figured she was in a clinic, rather than a temple. But she didn't know where. She didn't really know what had happened. As her mind struggled to catch up with her ravaged body, she barely remembered pieces, voices.

"Hello?" Isuelt labored to keep her voice from cracking, and to keep it at a volume where someone would hear her. She needed to know what had happened. Was Vixen all right, where was Marlah' She couldn't turn over onto her back, she couldn't see as much as she wanted to, much less get up out of her sickbed. She endeavored once more to capture someone's attention, "Please?"

It had been so long since last she had been at Riverview. The last time being for Mira, so long ago.

Avoiding the marketplace, the dragon had taken the long way.

She was having enough nightmares without having to witness the remnants of the fountain and buildings.

A nudge to the door with her snout, and she slipped quietly inside, moving towards the desk.

A twitch of an ear as she heard the weeping from the corner, ice blue eyes softening to the mother there mourning her child.

The very child she still had nightmares about.

Looking back to the receptionist, she swallowed down the lump in her throat. I came to see how they are doing.

They being Issy and Vixen.

Rest had never come this easily to Vixen, yet here she was unconscious. When it came down to it, she had a few contact burns "granted she handn't seen the bandages around her arm and against her side-, a hit to the head, and maybe a few cracked ribs, nothing a woman couldn't recover from, but that wasn't the case. Pride was a very tender thing, and when Vixen woke after two days of unneeded rest, it was apparent that her pride was damaged.

Images of Raven's actions replayed in her mind, from child to ghoul, she didn't understand it. As a woman of faith, she found herself debating the means in which the man would snap. Both her lips pursed, her nose even wrinkled. None of it seemed right. She couldn't think straight. They had been out gunned, even if they did outnumber the Betrayer and Raven, as well as their unit.

The thought of what each villain was using as a weapon had her confused, the thirst and lust for power had grown in the world, and for them all to be working together. It was troubling. Vixen wasn't ready to work it out.

If she wasn't supposed to be out of bed, she was. Passing Icer in the lobby and making her way for her sister. Not that she'd have to look far. It was also about this time that she started to stare at her palms as if an Alien had landed and laid eggs in them. Whatever had happened that night, she had never seen her do such a thing before.

"Iss?? She paused at the door way, worry in her somewhat hushed voice.

Karadesh Sovanii

Karadesh was unconscious for two days, he first of which had been spent under the attentions of a Riverview healer, making sure that his brain didn't swell up like a wet sponge inside his skull. The concussion he'd been brought in for was now under control, and he was resting in the recovery ward, under sedation so he wouldn't exaggerate his injuries.

The two Scathachian Sisters had almost gotten off unscathed by comparison, their recoveries much quicker. Karadesh would not be well enough to be discharged for at least another two days.

While Karadesh had been in the emergency care of Riverview, multiple messages came in on his PDA. A woman named Felix was looking for Karadesh. Finally one of the hospital staff used the PDA to contact her, and inform her (without details of course) that Kar was in the recovery ward...

"Iss?"

Isuelt's eyelashes fluttered, her cheek was still pressed against the pillow, which was now moist with perspiration. She recognized her name, she recognized the voice; and now she was fighting to keep awake. The Judge had been drifting in and out of consciousness for the better part of a day and a half, always losing track of time. Everything was fuzzy to her, including the pain. She figured that healers and medicine were both to blame, trying to keep the injuries and the pain under control.

Her arms felt like they weighed a hundred pounds each. And her head" It felt as if it were under water.

"Vix" That you?" Her lashes met once more, she was unable to keep her eyes open. But at least she wasn't falling into a drug-induced sleep again. "What...what?s happened?" The events that led up to her current state were fresh in her mind as if they had just happened ten minutes ago. "You okay?" She had missed Vixen getting hit by Hex. "Where...where's Marlah' Is she okay?" Isuelt tried to move her one hundred pound limbs to see where Vixen was. "Everyone else? Casualties" Wounded?" She was still the warrior, still felt as though she was the commander responsible for her troops. "Collateral damage?"

She winced as the pain shot from her back down each of her limbs once more. Time to stop moving. Isuelt was proud of herself, however, she was able to roll onto her side and actually see her Sister. Isuelt's dark eyes heavily traced over Vixen, searching for wounds on the silver-haired Priestess. And she couldn't be sure, but she thought that she saw a blue blur just beyond.

Vixen was out of bed, well before she was cleared to do so, but that was a different matter. The bandages over her arm, the tightness, suggested that there was a cast. Either way, with each breath she took she could feel pain in her side, but it didn't matter. The sight of her sister had her speechless for a moment. When Issy rolled over, the priestess moved to the side of her sister's bed.

"I don't know where Marlah is. All I know is we chased chaos and were out gunned." Her uncovered her hand moved to rub at her face, forcing her to wince. Several gashes covered the side of the silver haired woman's face. Pride forced her to ignore it as she spoke, "Iss, you need to pray. The goddess, please don't lose faith. We may have lost Lord Ravenlock to the deception of evil, but we will not lose our way. We can only get stronger."

It was merely words of comfort, but perhaps it would give her sister strength. She slid into a chair, difficultly, before speaking again. "We should send word to the island, call for more sisters. We cannot match wits with Lord Ravenlock and still keep an eye on the forces of Bhaal. We cannot risk them joining forces, if they do, I fear this city will suffer gravely."

Her head turned to the blue that Issy had noticed earlier. "He seems to be recovering" She said softly. "He helped us. Helped all of us. I believe I had enough assistance to keep collateral damage down, but there were losses." She swallowed painfully at the thought of the babe, the image playing again in her mind. "We can't let them hurt anyone like that again."

Blonde hair fell over her eyes as pale fingers closed over a blue furred hand. Fingers coiled and squeezed as she swallowed. Pointed ears twitched to the sounds of doctors and nurses making their rounds in ordered chaos. Deep eyes stared down at the slumbering face. Pale lips twitched as they pursed tightly.

"Damn it Kar, not even here a month and you're up to trouble. What happens if I lose you?" The Taerren sighed, "I don't know what kind of trouble you got into, but did you have to get hurt?"

She was scolding him, even at a whisper she sounded furious. Fingers tightened around his hand and she squeezed tightly. A small tremble left her voice. "Damn it Kar, how's a girl supposed to keep her secrets with you being defenseless like this..?" Her head shook and lowered a little so that she could kiss at his head.

As the Taerren sat there in wait, her eyes turned over the room and beyond it until she spotted the silver hair and the body beyond it. Something had happened, something she had missed, and it seemed Kar wasn't the only one to be injured. Her eyes fixed back on Kar as she sighed and squeezed his hand again. "Kar" Get better, please?? She squeezed again and swallowed, her eyes lowering to her boot clad feet.

Her question may have been answered as Vixen had wandered past. But the dragoness remained settled just off to the side of the reception desk.

She would not want to be in the way if anyone needed assistance. There she would patiently wait. Glancing the direction that Vixen had wandered.

While she might have been tempted to follow, she wouldn't. Not until she was cleared to do so.

~Kar" Get better, please"~

The words echoed in the cavern, made ripples on the still waters of the lake. Karadesh laid on the rocky island as he had for what seemed like forever. He could not remember how long he'd been here, or even where here was. All he knew was that it was dark, quiet, and peaceful. Well, it was peaceful until the words rumbled from nowhere and everywhere.

"Felix?" The name came unbidden to his lips, and in an instant his head sang with the agony of memory. The fight in the marketplace. The 'beasts' who slaughtered innocent bystanders without even a thought. Finally, the chunk of rubble that was came flying at his head, too quick and too unexpected to do anything more than dampen it's impact with the side of his skull.

He'd been injured, and this must be somewhere deep inside his own mind. Now that he knew that, he knew how to escape.

Sure enough, as soon as Karadesh pushed himself up from his back, he spotted a small boat on the shore of this island; a boat which hadn't been there before. Across the lake he could make out a pinpoint of light. The way out...

Back in the physical world, the Khyrolii's blue-green eyes slowly cracked open, a low groan escaping his muzzle. "Felix?" The name was croaked out between parched lips before the eyes fluttered shut again...
