Aja was visiting with the children, getting them all hyped up as she usually did. The nurses often scolded her for doing so, but once they saw how happy the kids were, the scolding died down to a mild reminder.

Not that Aja would do a thing to hurt those kids on purpose. She had a lot of admiration for them, their tiny little bodies frail with disease but their spirits were strong and they kept fighting. She could appreciate that strength and character.

"So then, just when it looked like all hope was lost, from above a voice was heard.." she was in the middle of one her made up tales to the children who were hanging on every word, even when it got very silly. "And the voice said, "Hey, you put down that bunny!" the bad man looked up and saw an angel." the kids oohed and ahed making her smile.

"Was the angel pretty?" one of them asked, making Aja almost crack up. Basing these crazy tales on her friends sometimes could lead to some very funny moments. She was fairly certain that Neo wouldn't much like being called 'pretty'.

"Well, the angel was a boy, so he was very handsome." "Does the angel have special powers?" another one asked excitedly. "Oh yeah!" Aja smiled broadly. "He's got the coolest powers. He can control water and he can fly." "Control water?" a little boy asked in awe. "Yep. And he's got this really cool tower that's made of water." "Is he a fish?" another one asked, and before Aja could stop giggling with the kids, they had decided that he had to be a fish to live in a tower of water. "He's an angelfish!" One of them said excitedly, which led the others to become excited too. Neo was gonna love this one, she thought as she giggled with the kids. "That's right. He's Angelfish the superhero!" Aja went right along with the kids, how could she not' They looked so darn excited about this. "So Angelfish told the bad man to put down the tiny bunny. And the bad man was so started by his sudden appearance that the bunny was able to wiggle free and escape to the forest." the kids once again applauded a happy story turn and waited to see what would happen to the bad man next now that Angelfish had appeared.

"Now the bad man was angry, he had lost his prize of the fluffy bunny so he turned towards Angelfish and yelled. "I'm gonna get you!" and do you know what happened next?" she looked around at the kids, some of whom shook their little heads while still staring at her in fascination. "The Angelfish shot his hands forward," she held her hands out like she'd seen Neo do when he used his water powers. "And he sprayed the man with a big stream of water which sent the bad man flying back to the river where he was carried far away and never seen again."

This ending was a big hit with the children. They cheered and clapped, laughing happily. Aja sat in the middle of the floor with them, grinning from ear to ear as she looked at all the smiles on their tiny little faces.

Story time was followed with a bit of drawing, pictures of a brightly colored man with angel wings seemed to be the favorite subject after story time. Aja watched as a little boy put the finishing touches on his picture of Angelfish standing in front of the blue tower of water.

"Do you think his tower looks like this?" the little boy asked with a hopeful smile. "It looks exactly like that." she ruffled his hair lightly. "You did a very good job." "Do you think he'll ever come to visit here?" "Oh. I bet that he will very soon." she kissed him on the head as the nurses filed into the room to take the kids back to their rooms.

Aja waved as they went, leaning against the back wall a little tired, but at the same time, absolutely exhilarated from spending time with the kids. She started plotting how to get Neo to come and visit. The kids would love to meet the real Angelfish in person.

Yes. She knew superheroes. They just didn't all come with wings. Some of them came in little bathrobes and slippers with tubes in their arms to help them battle the enemies attacking within.

That thought brought tears to her eyes and she shook her head smiling at how she became a big ball of mush sometimes. That smile stayed with her the rest of the day.
