Recently, something had appeared upon Riverview's servers. No one quite knew where it had came from or who the creator was, but for all intents and purposes it was a sort of public message board. It did appear to be accessible to most of the staff, but based on the layout and its initial message, it seemed to be focused on anonymity. Perhaps a safeguard for anyone who had less than savory things to discuss. The first message, interestingly enough, was left by a just plain "anonymous".

So today, one of my patients made the suggestion that delivering meal trays would go faster if they actually put a name tag on the tray in addition to that on top of the plate cover. I thought it was silly until I saw one of the nurses aides completely mixing up the tray assignments. She thought we did stuff by color coding. Apparently no one bothered to tell her that just because a room is beige doesn't mean there's only one patient in it. Not to mention trying to reason why a diabetic would be receiving a chocolate mousse sundae. The things I put up with some days....

In the middle of his downtime, the Chief of Pediatric Cardiology came upon this message board and, for lack of anything else to do, put down his own vinaigrette.

I'd hardly call that the most embarrassing thing to do to a patient. One of our less than trustworthy interns has been spending time in the maintenance closet with our Echo machine and making...."alterations" to its sound banks. Over in internal medicine, I spent 45 minutes tracking down a translator and then explaining to the young lady that was my patient why our examination equipment, in the middle of usage, decided to excitedly tell her "Congratulations, you've won a brand new Honda Cyst!"

As soon as I track down the culprit, I think extra sacs will be the last thing he or she has to worry about.
