She wasn't as fabulous at party-planning as she used to be, but one of Sivanna's many talents was that she could always steel her resolve when the situation truly called for it. And in this case, her good friend Anya's birthday, the situation was dire.
Invitations had gone out to meet on the eighteenth of Autumn Harvest (September, the locals here called it), around roughly nine to ten. The exact time didn't particularly matter, but the location certainly did. For years the Isle had held a special kind of significance for their circle of friends. However preoccupied they became with their lives....Anya with her twins, Aja and Misty with their businesses, Sivanna with her work....the Isle always seemed to bring out the best in them.
On Sunday, the very least Sivanna could do was prepare something lovely.

The good doctor had expressed an interest in the steampunk sub-genre of late, and so that was precisely the kind of theme that the cleric had deigned to decorate in. Thus, the general party area was a beautifully antique yet urbane image of techno-Victorian amalgam, with cast-iron torches and dust-covered antique lamps so dim that Edison himself might have scoffed. Errant gears and watchpieces littered brown and offwhite lace tablecloths, all centered around interesting artifacts from Earth and the surrounding areas: typewriters, furnace equipment and various abstract pieces that even the cleric could not identify.

The cake would be comprised of three layers; Raspberry with whipped cream filling, carrot with cream cheese, and rich vanilla with lemon curd respectively, all covered in a sweet, delectable fondant.

Elegant finery would be set up around the Isle, with large, varnished oak tables polished to a mirror shine and stationed strategically near the bar. These tables would be laden with the good doctor's favorite foods: borscht soup shots topped with dollops of whipped cream, pierogi (both beef and cabbage filled), and traditional Russian tea cakes. Additionally snack foods would be provided in fine Victorian fashion.

"Tea time" snacks would include things like cucumber sandwiches, turkey and cranberry crescent rolls, twisted bread with carom seeds, corn tikki patties and miniature crab cakes. Naturally for those vegans out there (as she was) she intended to provide several large fresh fruit and vegetable platters.

As with everything Sivanna, there was always, always alcohol, and lots of it. But more interestingly, that alcohol this time around would be served facetiously in chemistry beakers and test tube glass vials. And the good doctor could rest assured that the cleric had prepared a multitude of colorful liquor shots ahead of time.
