The following announcement was made by the Governor via press release:

The Governor's Service Medal award program is designed to recognize people who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to serve our community by showing exemplary commitment, hard work and dedication. The recipients of this honor strive - sometimes in extreme circumstances - to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors to the communities of Rhy"Din and Stars End.

February was extremely busy, full of festivals and other activities. I am pleased to announce that an astounding fourteen individuals are being awarded this recognition for the month. I hope that you will join me in applauding each of these for the inspiring example they have shown.

Our first four recipients are receiving this award for the hard work and personal contributions they have made to researching and initiating the Rhy"Din Naval Guard. The Naval Guard will stand as both a safeguard of our coastal boundaries, and as a service and rescue organization dedicated to protecting our citizens who work, travel or play along our coastal waters. Congratulations to Silver Starblade, Ebon Ilnaren, Aristotle Kruger Allen (Kruger) and Leuthar Driftwood on receiving this recognition.

Ocean-faring ships are not the only ones that launched this frosty February. The long-awaited launch of the Nexus Traveler, out of StarsEnd, was finally announced in February. Godspeed to the captain and crew of this state-of-the-art research vessel on their maiden voyage. On behalf of the entire ship's complement, a service medal is being awarded to Captain Buram 'Fovemai Vadam. We're wishing you all an exciting voyage and a safe return.

The next recipients are frequently on this list because of the many community events they sponsor and host. February's Winter Moon Festival hosted by Coven Bristle Crios was the kickoff activity for the 2012 Rhy"Din Fashion Week. As always, those involved did a splendid job. Congratulations to Yasmin (Yasmin), Angel (AngelofDeath), Nikia O'Neill (Creative Creation), Christine Cain (BardofCain) and Miranda Branson (Miranda Branson) for putting on a terrific event enjoyed by many.

Of course, you cannot mention Rhy"Din Fashion Week without thinking of the organizer of this annual event showcasing Rhy?Din designers. Koyliak VanDuran-Simon (Koyliak)puts in many hours of hard work to make this a time to remember every year, and it's time to recognize her for her efforts. Congratulations, Koy! An additional award related to this event is being given to Andu Kirost for his services and equipment operating the portable security station to assist with public safety efforts.

Our next recipient for February was the hostess of the closing event for Fashion Week: the 2012 Valentine's Disco Ball. This dance-the-night-away party lasted nearly eight hours and hosted approximately 60 hardcore attendees shaking what their mamas gave them. Congratulations to Rekah Illyriana for a fantastic end to a great event!

Last, but certainly not least, I want to formally recognize an individual who I believe consistently demonstrates flexibility and can-do attitude. She is an inspiration to me, and I hope will be one to others in our community, here in a land where it is easy to sit back and to sell one's abilities short. I urge you all: do not let that stop you from contributing; you do not know what you can do until you try. This individual is always willing to jump in and help where there is a need, and she has yet to disappoint. Congratulations to our final service medal recipient for February, Kazzy Hart, for your project management of the construction of the new train stop network that will be coming soon throughout the city in the following weeks.

Kudos to all of our Governor's Service Medal recipients for February!
