The following announcement was made by the Governor via press release:

The Governor's Service Medal award program is designed to recognize people who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to serve our community by showing exemplary commitment, hard work and dedication. The recipients of this honor strive - sometimes in extreme circumstances - to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors to the communities of Rhy?Din and Stars End.

In April, fifteen individuals are recognized for efforts that have enhanced life in our community. This award is not bestowed solely by the Governor, but by those citizens of RhyDin who nominate individuals for consideration. Please join me in congratulating each of them.

Our first recipient has played a large role in protecting the city of late, bringing to life an idea that seems so simple, and yet has never come to fruition until now. Fire safety, prevention and fire fighting has been a hit-or-miss endeavor in the past, but no more. For coordinating and leading the newly-formed RhyDin Volunteer Fire Brigade, we congratulate Johnny Storm!

Our next two recipients worked tirelessly at putting together a celebration of RhyDin's children. Children's Day this year was particularly important because it emphasized, during a (thankfully brief) period of violence that seemed to be aimed at our youth, that our little ones are the life and the future of our city. For helping us all to remember that, and for many other acts of service and selflessness, our thanks go to Lady Aja Bird and Steven Armstrong.

ADDENDUM TO ORIGINAL NOTICE: In addition to Ms. Bird and Mr. Armstrong, the following individuals were recognized at the Governor's Advisory Council meeting of May 13, 2013, for their assistance with Children's Day: Terry King, Dill T Jones, Icer Shimmerscale, Aurthur Shimmerscale, Eregor, Rhiannon Brock, Mairead Harker, Myria Graziano, Matthew Simon and Rena A. Cronin. Congratulations on this recognition, and thank you all.

Our next recipient, is a man whom I have come to rely upon greatly over the past two years. Despite the fact that he is the CEO of a large and demanding business, he has worked countless hours at Town Hall to assist as we have moved toward compliance with the Fair Labor Agreement. As if that weren't enough, during several crises, he has stepped into to coordinate the city's emergency response efforts, moving resources and volunteers where they have been most urgently needed. This is an acknowledgment of service that has been warranted for far too long, and it gives me great pleasure at this time to recognize Dib Jaster Aurene for his contributions.

Our final recipient for April is also a recognizable face around Town Hall, and another who perhaps should have been officially thanked long before now. She was one of the first city employees I met when I took office two years ago, and has remained cheerfully at her post since then. In addition, she has volunteered for virtually any task I have sought her out for - whether that entailed covering lunch breaks for my personal assistant or passing out event flyers in town. She is a charming soul, and sometimes we forget how important that can be. Congratulations to Daisy Smith!

Kudos to all of our Governor's Service Medal recipients!
