The following announcement was made by the Governor via press release:

The Governor's Service Medal award program is designed to recognize people who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to serve our community by showing exemplary commitment, hard work and dedication. The recipients of this honor strive - sometimes in extreme circumstances - to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors to the communities of Rhy"Din and Stars End.

This month, we are recognizing the accomplishments of a number of individuals, whose contributions spanned November through January. This award is not bestowed solely by the Governor, but by those citizens of RhyDin who nominate individuals for consideration. This month, ten members of our community are being honored, and I trust you will join me in congratulating them.

Our first recipients are sometimes controversial, sometimes adversarial, but always entertaining. They are the hosts of an edgy morning radio program, and the co-hosts of a party that had half of the city talking and more than a few of them staggering home in the wee hours of the morning. Congratulations to Seirichi and Harris.

They weren't the only journalists nominated who are being honored today. The newsstands are mobbed whenever the latest issue of this recipient's magazine appears which, in fact or fiction, paints the everyday picture of our city's faces and leaves more than one person asking 'Where did he get that picture of me"!' Congratulations, Darien Fenner.

Occasionally, a dueling event will be so exciting and far-reaching that it ignites the imaginations and participation of everyone in the city. This is the case with the event sponsored and run by the council's Andrea "Apple" Anderson, fittingly titled the "Seaside Super Fun Time Squire Extravaganza"- which awarded participation points not only for competing in the duels, but in cheering on others competing. I approve! Congratulations, Apple.

Community events aren't the only endeavors for which recipients are recognized. Recently, a threat to the safety of RhyDin, Cadentia and Lorica appeared in the skies. In acts of heroism, the story of which are still unfolding, two individuals fought to stop the vessel Tartarus before it breeched the Lorica-RhyDin portal. Thank you and congratulations to Sergei Rodovic and Bridgette Sato.

((Once in a while, the thank yous for this have to be addressed OOC. This is the case for the last four recipients of the medal this time around.))

First - I have never seen a first-time attempt at a global SL take off and excite so many people. This was really an ingenious and inclusive story, so I am thrilled to say thanks and congratulations to Mana D' Sanguine for launching and running the "Worth of a Man" story arc. Great job!

And finally, when the flu knocked me over in the middle of the last holiday, three people stepped up and helped host and assist with the Feast of the Two Moons event, literally at the last minute. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Katt Batten, Fury, and Toby St. Germaine.

Kudos to all of our Governor's Service Medal recipients!
