Governor's Service Medals

fiohelston "Our first item of old business tonight, is the Governor's Service Medals for April. The press release went out this morning. It was a shorter list than usual, but we came off of a very busy first quarter, so I am not surprised. I imagine there will be a few more issued before the electsion, for May."

Beatrix Howell Bea slid in on ballet flats, spinning to a halt and flopping into the chair next to Abby. "'ullo." A wave and fold-lipped smile to Katt, and then all things Beatrix settled.

fiohelston "We have a Volunteer Fire Brigade! It only took us a couple of centuries, but there you have it. People no longer need to fear calling the Watch when their home is burning down around their ears."

Steve Armstrong The bottle was tipped back for a long swallow, hawkish blue eyes intent.

NorseLady That deserves a round of applause, in her opinion. And she claps.

Katt A finger tapped the brim of her hat in Be's direction.

fiohelston "Our next recipients also like to play in the water, judging from this year's dunk tank at RhyDin Children's Day. While some in the community fanned some fires related with our community's youngsters, this pair reminded us that our children are treasures to be celebrated and protected, and that we all have a little bit of child inside of us."

Caroline Granger Since these recipients were here to be deafened with a whistle, a whistle was what they got, followed by a grin from the apparently well-behaved CEO of GrangerGuild.

Abigail Dekker She gave a polite clap and crossed her legs. After a fashion, a small yellow notepad was liberated from a denim pocket.

Abigail Dekker Her eyes on Mr. Armstrong, she casually reached over and shoved the bit of nothing in the chair next to her.

Caroline Granger Her eyes turned curiously to Steve.

fiohelston She waited until he stood and the applause ran its course before continuing. Or not. She eyed him warily before nodding. "Certainly."

Steve Armstrong "In addition to everyone who came out, I just wanna thank the volunteers who came out and made alot of this possible. In particular, Terry King, Dillon Jones, Myria Graziano and the Wreckin' Crew, and Matt Simon's contingent from the RASG. As well as Eregor, Rhiannon, and Maggie. You guys were great." And then he was sitting again!

fiohelston When the applause died down again, she continued. "Our final recipients are two individuals whom I have leaned upon often in times of crisis and on ordinary workdays alike. I have shared more than one working lunch of take out Chinese with them, and had a horrible moment of realization in the middle of the night recently when I realized how much they do, and that I have never recognized that officially.? NorseLady Espies the Garou and her smile widens. A waggling of leather-encased fingers his way.

Steve Armstrong The machinist's smile widened minutely.

fiohelston "Dib Jaster Aurene is the CEO of a company that demands a great deal of his time and energy, yet he has -volunteered- his time for the past two years, acting as the city's Fair Labor Agreement auditor. In addition, during several crises, he has stepped up and coordinated relief efforts and orchestrated the movement of men and supplies. We owe him a great debt as a community, and I owe him a great debt of friendship."

fiohelston "And I don't think any of you can imagine the workings of Town Hall without Daisy Smith at the reception desk. Daisy, or Y'siad, as she prefers to be called, has been there daily to greet, direct and sometimes confuse our many visitors. She has not missed one day of work in the two years of my time as Governor. "

fiohelston "So congratulations to them both, for their hard work and dedication."

Alain DeMuer Alain got hold of a beer and raised it in salute when Fio named the Aurk and Y'siad.

Caroline Granger Smiling, she lifted her hands to applaud for the two named. They'd been invaluable over the past two years, always working behind the scenes and doing a ridiculously good job of it.

Steve Armstrong Steve's hands came together again in hearty applause.

fiohelston "So this has taken a little longer than it normally does, but I am very grateful for all of the recipients of these medals. They have proved to everyone who doubted it, two years ago, that this city can come together and work wonders. I rushed through the announcement far too often."

Katt Her hand lifted a bit as she looked over to Fio.

Observatory and Botanical Center

fiohelston She smoothed her expression again and gestured for Rhiannon to continue, as she would.

NorseLady And wearing a pair of lacy bloomers on his head. Snickersnorts. Clamps a gloved hand over her mouth before she begins guffawing.

Rhiannon D Harker I'm pleased to say the Observatory Complex building is complete. We are still working on the walkways. This is a tri-level structure with a basement level that houses a pool, recreation area, a wine making room, science and alchemy labs. The project grew beyond what was requested, but it is our hope at Harker and Hall that it will serve many needs for the community. The ground floor has a large media center and library, daycare center, performance stage, and cafe.

Rhiannon D Harker There is outdoor seating for the cafe as well as seating for chess and other such games on the patio. Art and dance studios were built on the upper floor as well as a state of the art industrial kitchen. The second floor is also home to a reception area and lecture hall. The hall features a cinema screen and surround sound system.

NorseLady Calms herself, wanting to hear all about the Observatory!

Rhiannon D Harker The observatory has two full scale domes with state of the art and then some ::she grinned:: equipment. We would like to thank Matt Simon and the RASG for their assistance in acquiring and installing that equipment.

Rhiannon D Harker Memorial stones can still be requested for the walkways and plaques for the benches. Due to the hard winter this year, we have had difficulties with the construction of the conservatory building and planting the gardens. It is hoped that it will be open to the public by the end of June.

Katt Dipping her eyes to her phone she frowned a bit. After a handful of moments she slid out of her seat and slipped out of the tavern as quiet as..well..it was just quiet.

The Redneck Lips twitching, she kept to her uncharacteristic quiet. At least for the time being.

fiohelston "The elections are coming up soon. I have it on good authority that Waterhouse Accounting will be making a formal announcement shortly, taking nominations."
