The following announcement was made by the Governor during a press conference on Saturday, October 1:

Good morning.

As you know, last month I announced the beginning of the Governor's Service Medal award program, designed to recognize people who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to serve our community by showing exemplary commitment, hard work and dedication - sometimes in extreme circumstances - to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors to the communities of Rhydin and Stars End.

I am pleased to announce that six individuals are being awarded this recognition this morning. I hope that you will join me in applauding each of these for the example they have shown to us all.

Two of our award winners displayed remarkable courage during the marketplace attacks that occured on the twenty-sixth of this month, not by immediately jumping into the fray, but by focusing their efforts on evacuating unarmed citizens from the area. These heroic efforts are an example to all of us of having the right priorities in place during times of extreme duress. Congratulations go to Vixen "Androdiama" Rogue (Androdiama) and Karadesh Sovanii (Karadesh Sovanii).

Our next recipient hosted the recent Mabon feast in the Southern Glen, celebrating the wiccan thanksgiving which takes place during the autumnal equinox. Gabriella Dufaigh's (Pawn of Fate) many efforts for this event supported community sharing, diversity and cultural understanding. Thank you, Gabriella.

Our final three recipients for September were heavily involved in the coordination and execution of the exciting Citizens Day weekend airshow that so many of us enjoyed this year. It was a fantastically exciting evening for the many who attended, and full of interesting exhibits, good food and some heart-stopping moments in the sky. Congratulations and thank you to Sergei Rodovic (Sergei), William Taylor (Will Taylor) and Matthew Algiers Simon (Goldglo). Your hard work was much appreciated! Kudos to all of our Governor's Service Medal recipients!
