Along with the many gifts comes one dropped off by a messenger, a wooden casket containing a bottle of what the label proclaims is The Dalmore 62 Single Highland Malt Scotch. Also in the box is a folded note.

To the new Governor Fionna Helston-al Amat;

Congratulations on your braving both assassins and fellow politicians (which can be equally dangerous on multiple levels) and winning the seat of the Governor.

I give to you this bottle of fine scotch from my private collection in the hopes that you may practice the same good sense in opening it that I hope you will use in your term as Governor of Rhy'din.

Sincerely,

Edward K. Batten

Of all of the gifts that had been delivered, this one tested her creativity. In the end, it was Trina, and not Fionna, who came up with the solution.

"That stuff's expensive. Too bad he didn't just give you a pile of gold."

It was perfect.

"He did. Call the auction house and get us on their next catalog. We'll put it up for bid and donate the proceeds."

She jotted a quick and personal note for Ed, which read:

Mr. Batten,

Thank you for the generous gift of the lovely bottle of scotch. I appreciate the thoughtfulness and good wishes behind it tremendously.

I won't deny that opening it is tempting, but better still to keep it sealed to benefit the families of the four who were killed in the car bombing that took place last weekend. I am sure that you will understand and approve of my decision to auction the bottle off and to donate the proceeds in the name of Batten Industries to a memorial fund established for the victims' families.

With tremendous gratitude, Fionna Helston al-Amat ((Auction coming as soon as I get the icon!))
