A typed letter (which appeared to be written using a typewriter and not any more 'modern' forms of printing) was sent by House DeMuer courier to the office of Gov. Matthew Simon. The envelope was marked with the DeMuer Exports logo, an encircled cross with a D in the top left, an E in the bottom right, and the remaining two quarters colored blue. The logo appeared to be hand-painted, but other than that and the signature at the bottom of the enclosed letter, everything had been typed.

Dear Gov. Simon,

Congratulations on your election to the office of Governor of RhyDin City! It was a long and difficult campaign for all parties involved, and though we never had the opportunity to interact, I am happy to have participated with you in political debate. I hope we will have the opportunity to correspond directly in the future.

I understand your policies for providing services to the city are ambitious. DeMuer Exports is in the process of evaluating its budget for the next quarter, and as ever we are concerned for any factors we might not have taken into account.

Does your office plan to levy any taxes or shipping fees in order to fund the services you intend to provide? Between the mounting expenses of expanding our enterprises and remaining consistent in our contributions to the community, we would struggle to integrate additional expenses into our budget and would have to seek out alternative arrangements.

Thank you in advance for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Dib Jaster Aurene Deputy Executive Officer - DeMuer Exports

A reply, utilizing a more 'modern' form of printing than the type-written letter, was sent to DeMuer Exports, care of Dib Jaster Aurene.

Dear Mr. Aurene,

Thank you for your letter of congratulations and inquiry. As you and your company are in the process of evaluating plans and budgets, so too am I. Though I cannot tell you for 100% certainty what the future will bring, I can say that it's not currently in my plans to levy additional taxes or fees in regards to exports.

I am quite aware of the need to keep the city's economy strong and, in doing so, ensuring that our local businesses thrive. If there are specific circumstances you wish to discuss or further concerns you wish to address, either in regards to your company or my plans and policies, I would be more than happy to meet you in person at the Governor's Office, your facility (which I am most interested in seeing), or a neutral locale.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Sincerely,

Matthew Algiers Simon

The reply was speedy, and in the same format as the first letter.

Dear Gov. Simon,

Thank you for your prompt reply. My colleagues have been happy to hear that local taxes and fees will not be factored into the quarterly budget, allowing us the flexibility for continued expansion.

While no further concerns come to mind, I would be delighted to show you our offices and other facilities. Construction has recently been completed on a cargo ship we are very excited about, if you are interested in seeing that also.

Please let me know, and we can meet at your convenience.

Sincerely,

Dib Jaster Aurene Deputy Executive Officer - DeMuer Exports
