Esteemed Governor Helston;

As I hope this correspondence finds you well, I apologize for not sending this news sooner. As the figurehead of Rhydin City and its surrounding areas, I am aware that you require knowledge from the land and people under your care. And, as I said, I am sorry that this letter possibly reaches you late.

It has come to my attention that the Temple of Bhaal has converged on Rhydin City and has, in fact, been here for some time. I realize that this Temple may not be greatly known in this area of the world; however, suffice it to say that they have been the enemy of the Temple of Scathach since before recorded history. I believe that the Bhaalites are here with one purpose, and that is not to incur destruction upon your fair city, but to prey upon the Scathachians and to further their battle to overpower us in this region of the land. I vow to keep their hostility away from as much of the city and its citizens as I can. Like I stated, I believe that their narrowed target is myself and my Sisters, so I hope that the city will not become collateral damage. I shall do my best to keep disorder to a minimum.

As for other issues, I have been told that you are aware of the present condition and location of Renna the Betrayer. Again, my apologies for not extending the information to you earlier. My own excuses are of no consequence. Renna's condition is alarming, however, she does still show signs of disorderly conduct as well as a menacing air. I would advise that she never be treated with a casual demeanor, as she has been proven to use trickery and deception for her own ends.

And, while I know it is not my decision, I would further advise that we strive to seek a way to sentence her to death. There have been new developments that we should explore, developments that hold the promise of perhaps ending her life once and for all. I would request a meeting with you to discuss these. I call for no quarter and no mercy for Renna the Betrayer. Of course, the ultimate decision lays in your capable and esteemed hands.

Respectfully,

Isuelt DeRomiano

Even as Isuelt finished writing the letter, she knew that she had pressed upon a querulous topic. She had already had several arguments with different people, people she trusted and respected, about how the containment and punishment of Renna the Betrayer should be handled. She knew the decision did not lay with her, though she felt it important that she made her feelings known to those in power. If she didn't, she would never be able to stop the nagging tug at her conscience. Even now, Renna still seemed to have a power over her that the Scathachian priestess couldn't explain.

The letter was immediately delivered to the Governor's office, complete with a sealed casing which bore the wax emblem of the Scathachian Nation: a scale in the foreground of two crossed swords.
