Left by the Governor's office sat a hand-crafted rocking chair of rich cherry-oak. Etched into the entire surface with minute detail are small murals of different children's fairy tales. On the left arm is a holder large enough for a child's bottle and on the right is space big enough for an adult's bottle.

Resting gently on the seat is a simple card.

"Fionna,

Please accept this gift on behalf of myself and Cantath-Cantak Lumber LLC. We hope you get as much pleasure out of using it as we had making it. May your term be long and prosperous.

Sincerely, Race"

After the gift from the beef council, Trista had picked up on the idea pretty quickly. She called the delivery company before she tapped on the Governor's door to alert her to the latest arrival.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" the assistant asked, sliding a fingertip along the woodgrain of the arm.

"Whoever the craftsmen were, they outdid themselves," Fionna murmured her agreement, examining the detailed carving. "I think I know the perfect place for this, too."

It was carefully repacked and sent off with the movers, while Fionna penned a letter of thanks to the donor. It read:

Dear Race,

What a beautiful piece of furniture! It truly is a work of art and puts what little carving I've done in the past to shame. Please tell those who crafted it that they have my complete admiration. Thank you, as well, for your warm good wishes.

So that many others can enjoy this beautiful piece and, more importantly, draw comfort and solace from its use, the city has donated the rocking chair in the name of Cantath-Cantak Lumber LLC to the Riverview Clinic for its use in the children's wing. I am sure that it will be treasured there for many years to come. Thank you for your generosity.

Cordially, Fionna Helston al-Amat

Race glanced over the response from Fionna as he pondered his own to be sent back. Pen rattles against the extendable leaf. "Well this says some things about our fair governess to be certain. Finally a true player of the Great Game.....She won't accept gifts that could be seen to curry favor, and even note the use of 'Cordially' bears its own undertones" A faint smile played over his lips while finally setting down to write.

"Fionna,

I am glad you approve of the piece and your decision to donate it speaks to the person I thought you to be at our meeting. Once again I wish you best of luck in your efforts at the head of Rhydin's helm. She's a large ship with an even larger wake.

My best, Race"

Leaning back and nodding at his words, Race looked up at his assistant. "And this is why I told you to send her one of last year's spare orders."
