To mark the end of Rhy'Din's first Fine Arts Festival, 'Taya had exercised her not inconsiderable charms to get permission to hold an outdoor party. Not just any outdoor party, either - a costume party barbeque. And every good costume party has a theme, so she'd decided to go with fairytales. Of course, as soon as she decided on that, she'd had visions of dozens of Cinderellas or Snow Whites turning up. Poisoned apples at dawn .....Anyway, down to the preparations.
Founders Park was a beautiful venue in its own right. There really was very little that could be done to it, so she didn't even try. Roping in the talents of her currently at-ease stage crews, Mataya set about making sure they would be able to drape every single tree and shrub with fairylights, and line the multitude of paths with little paper-cutout lanterns.

The BBQ would be set up by the railings along the waterfront, manned by whichever volunteers she managed to rope into it from the various catering businesses who were going to be available at the festival anyway. Nearby, there would be a salad bar, and of course, the all-important bar itself, with everything alcoholic and non- available. And all of it on the house.

Unusually, there would be no tables and chairs set up. Alternatively, the Shanachie would provide surprisingly comfortable communal benches, padded, cushioned, and each one bearing two flat sections where plates and glasses could be stowed safely.

And as for a dance floor ....well, the lightly gravelled wide path around the Founders Fountain would do for that. Or for those of a more exhibitionist state of mind, there were always the stages left behind after the festival's performances.

With all that done, all that remained was to see how many people got into the spirit of the occasion. 8 p.m., Sunday 21st August, Founders Park - Fine Arts Festival Fairytale Costume Party. Try saying that ten times with your mouth full.
((So here it is, the obligatory party thread! Feel free to post anything and everything party-related here - the only thing I insist on is CLOTHES! But that's because I'm somewhat of a shopaholic with no money to spare, but anyway .... Hopefully everyone'll have fun, and I hope to see folks on Sunday!))
