With the Shanachie closed for the next few weeks, 'Taya had given herself a new task to occupy her mind, one which had been approved by the GAC the evening before. A Fine Arts Festival, from the 19th to the 21st of August, in which the artistic talents of the city could be put on display for the public, and help relieve a little of the tension that was pervading the streets.

To that end, she drew up a short schedule of what the Shanachie could provide, as well as a covering letter, and sent what felt like hundreds of copies out to the various organisations within the city who might be interested in getting involved, be they theaters, studios, art galleries, museums, orchestras and bands, even the tiny independant amateur dramatics groups she knew existed somewhere within city limits; as well as to the deli's, bakeries, restaurants, pubs, bars, and taverns who might want to set up stalls to sell food and drink to the festival goers.

With that done, all she had to do was wait, and hope that people wanted to get involved.

To Whom It May Concern,

Further to the GAC meeting of august 8th, 2011, the Shanachie Theater has been given permission to host a three day Fine Arts Festival on the waterfront of Founders' Park, from the 19th to 21st August, 2011. I am writing to invite your organisation to involve itself in this festival. Sponsorship is provided by businesses that include the GrangerGuild Conglomerate, and Batten Industries, which will also be overseeing the security needs of the event.

Enclosed is a schedule of family friendly events the Shanachie will be providing over the three days. If you have a wish to involve yourselves, please contact me before Sunday August 14th with details of events/stalls/performances you wish to provide.

With high hopes of a successful festival to come, I am,

Yours Sincerely, Mataya De Luca Owner, Shanachie Theater

Fallon grinned to herself as she re-read Ms De Luca's letter, her fingers already tapping away on her laptop to finish her own additions to the schedule that had been sent their way. It was a PR dream, a festival like this - a chance to get her artists more exposure, as well as introduce a few of them to the public. So of course Vanima Art Gallery would be represented.

Fine Arts Festival

Vanima Art Gallery will be providing two stalls for the entirety of the event. One covered, as an exhibition and sales space where the work of various artists will be on display such as sculpture, painting, etc. A smaller stall will be set up on the other side of the waterfront, where artists represented by this gallery will be available for quick sketches and short lessons in their chosen field. Artists represented by Vanima Art Gallery include Cody Van Allen, AJ Ryan, Henrietta Vasilli, Oliver Granger the Third, and Mas'taram.

Riley ORourke

"Pfft. Like she even needs to ask," Riley said, looking over the letter from 'Taya. After a quick conference with the other instructors and students at the Black Cat Dance Studios, Riley dashed off a quick reply to her best friend's request, giving her a list of things the Studios would provide. Maybe she'd even harass Daniel into doing a sneak peek of the Winter Menu at the Temple Restaurant, inside the Imperial Grand Rhy'Din Hotel and Casino. Ooh, and maybe David and Cheung would like to provide demonstrations of their martial arts classes as well!

The Black Cat Dance Studios, under the direction of Riley Lo, will provide a small stage for brief demonstrations of all disciplines taught at the Studios, namely ballet, ball room, swing, hip hop, jazz, and tango. There will also be free beginner's lessons of each discipline as well, taught by our instructors.

With Sadie mostly tied up with little Rosie, it had fallen to Genny to keep O'Dell's Deli running as smoothly as she was able. She'd never attempted to organise an outdoor catering service, so when the letter arrived from the Shanachie, she took it as an opportunity.

O'Dell's Deli will be providing a food tent, in which hot and cold snacks will be available, cooked fresh on site. There will also be opportunities everyday for children and adults to try their hands at decorating cakes with sugar sculptures and icings.

I'm actually rather surprised to be on such a list, Ciarth thought as he read the missive from the Shanachie. Still, it's a fine idea and should help lift this city's spirits in the wake of this epidemic. He quickly penned a reply.

Shining Star Glassworks will gladly participate in this excellent festival. We will operate a stall with decorative glass and crystal sculpture of all sizes for display or sale. In addition, on-site demonstration on the art of blowing and shaping glass will be available, including basic lessons under the watchful eye of myself or one of my three assistants. Thank you for honoring us with the invitation to take part in this festival.

Colleen found the notice among the stack of correspondence and gathered her staff. "Alri', people, this is two events inside two weeks. We can help with this 'n' get ready fer that birthday party, too."

Lasher's Italian Restaurant will provide a tent with a selection of wines and desserts, including our chocolate specialties by Colleen MaLeod-Fenner, for the Festival.

David Lo

"I don't know why you didn't just add me in with the rest of the Studio classes," David said to Riley after reading the letter. "I'd be thrilled to put on a baguazhang demonstration for the Festival. Maybe some free lessons, too." He sat down and wrote a brief addendum to Riley's reply:

Also on the Black Cat Dance studio stage, David Lo and several of his students will put on a demonstration of the Chinese Martial Art known as Baguazhang. After the demonstration, the performers will be handing out coupons for a free baguazhang lesson or a free t'ai chi chuan lesson (taught by Tommy Cheung) at the studio at Zen Gardens.

Daniel Tej

When Riley showed him the letter from the Theater, Daniel decided that her idea to showcase some of the forthcoming dishes from the The Temple was an excellent one, and immediately set to writing up a reply.

With the Grand Opening of the Imperial Grand Rhy'Din Hotel and Casino only a few months away, allow us to whet your appetites with a selection of sample dishes to be featured in the upcoming Winter Menus at the Temple Restaurant. Manager and Head Chef Daniel Tej will be presenting samples of several courses from both menus. The samples, which will be provided free of charge, will include: Appetizers of Lobster & Green Peppercorn Ramekin, with a Scallop & Chardonnay Sauce & Brown Breads or Chilled Poached Pear, set on Roquefort & Watercress, and drizzled with Virgin Olive Oil. Main Course of Bangers & Mash; Thick lamb and rosemary sausages on creamy mash with caramelized onion and red wine jus or a Red Onion Tarte Tatin, with Rocket Salad & Parmesan Shavings. Dessert of Lime & Vanilla Cheesecake with Orange Syrup or Cinnamon-Scented Crepe filled with Honeycomb Ice-cream, and topped with Warm Winter Berry Compote.

With Lelah down for the foreseeable future, it was up to Liv to respond to the letter from the Shanachie Theater. It looked like something Lelah would definitely get involved with, and after a little asking around the lot, Liv composed her reply.

21twelve studios will be providing one stall, and two demonstration events, to be repeated multiple times through the three days of the festival. The stall will focus around information to do with the careers open within the film industry. The first demonstration will be of the process of making a movie, from script to premiere. The second will be an interactive demonstration of how the various forms of movie magic are made, from CGI, to prosthetic wounds, to building and decorating sets.

Ms. De Luca,

Due to my mother, Colleen's, recent hospitalization, I will serve as the point of contact for Lasher's Italian Restaurant. I can be reached through the restaurant or the Baronial Manor in the Old Temple District.

Rest assured that the desserts and wine selection will arrive for the festival as she promised.

Sincerely,

Rhiannon D. Harker Baroness of Old Temple

At the last minute, a notice would make its way via messenger to Mataya de Luca, coming from the desk of one Kyle Pontius, Head of Operations for Batten Industries.

Ms. de Luca,

In the interest of contributing more than merely monies and security to your Fine Arts Festival, Batten Industries would also be sponsoring a demonstration of Capoeira, a martial art with strong musical and cultural cultural roots, to be overseen by the local mestre of the art, Dr. Raye Ibaraki, which will run throughout the length of the festival. This demonstration will not only extend to others the opportunity to observe a unique and beautiful style of dance as martial ability, but will also offer the opportunity for those uninitiated to such practices to learn an art which has strong cultural, musical, meditative, and motivational influences on those who choose to be practitioners.

We appreciate your contribution to the city of this festival to uplift the hearts of the people of this fine city, as well as the opportunity for others to experience different arts and tastes of cultures from many different corners of this city and the many worlds beyond which are connected to it. Please accept this additional contribution with our compliments.

Sincerely,

Kyle Pontius

Head of Operations, Batten Industries
