With the Shanachie closed for the next few weeks, 'Taya had given herself a new task to occupy her mind, one which had been approved by the GAC the evening before. A Fine Arts Festival, from the 19th to the 21st of August, in which the artistic talents of the city could be put on display for the public, and help relieve a little of the tension that was pervading the streets.
To that end, she drew up a short schedule of what the Shanachie could provide, as well as a covering letter, and sent what felt like hundreds of copies out to the various organisations within the city who might be interested in getting involved, be they theaters, studios, art galleries, museums, orchestras and bands, even the tiny independant amateur dramatics groups she knew existed somewhere within city limits; as well as to the deli's, bakeries, restaurants, pubs, bars, and taverns who might want to set up stalls to sell food and drink to the festival goers.
With that done, all she had to do was wait, and hope that people wanted to get involved.
To Whom It May Concern,
Further to the GAC meeting of august 8th, 2011, the Shanachie Theater has been given permission to host a three day Fine Arts Festival on the waterfront of Founders' Park, from the 19th to 21st August, 2011. I am writing to invite your organisation to involve itself in this festival. Sponsorship is provided by businesses that include the GrangerGuild Conglomerate, and Batten Industries, which will also be overseeing the security needs of the event.
Enclosed is a schedule of family friendly events the Shanachie will be providing over the three days. If you have a wish to involve yourselves, please contact me before Sunday August 14th with details of events/stalls/performances you wish to provide.
With high hopes of a successful festival to come, I am,
Yours Sincerely, Mataya De Luca Owner, Shanachie Theater
