Dear Ms. DeLuca,

I'm writing to ask if you would consider adding a workshop to STARS for kids that might like to work behind the scenes in the theater. My friend, Azure, is very good at sewing, but she's shy. I wonder if there are other kids that might want to learn to make costumes or build scenery. Do you think that might be a good idea for a future project"

Also, my school is starting up a project to help the students with public speaking. We're going to have TV show thing on Channel KIDS! We'd like to do what Mama calls a remote from the Shanachie. Would that be ok with you?

Sincerely,

Mairead Harker

Dear Maggie,

I think that is an absolutely fabulous idea! A lot of people don't realize just how much of the magic at a theater happens even before the curtain goes up, and just how many opportunities there are for people with a whole range of skills behind the scenes. I do think it is an excellent idea, but one to hold onto for a little while. I'd like the STARS to get established before I start poking around with them - you guys have only been going for a few weeks!

You are very welcome to use the Shanachie for your remote. Our doors are open to all the schools and groups in the area. Just ask your Mama to contact me with the details, and we will arrange something for you, at our cost.

On a side note, thank you so much for auditioning again this year. You made me cry on opening night! That's a good thing, I promise. And thank you for your sponsorship. Every little bit helps.

Yours sincerely, and with big hugs and kisses,

Mataya De Luca
