Mataya

Max had been looking for days and finally found something he thought was worthy of his ladies. The only problem was that the house had four bedrooms, not the specified three. Still, he just knew that he could sway 'Taya once she saw it. He rushed into the small apartment, very animated with excitement. "You gotta see it! You two are dressed" Ok, let's go!"

Two heads looked up from the sofa where Mataya and Juno had been reading together, having a little quiet time while waiting for Max to reappear. Neither of them had mentioned the incident outside, despite the newest addition to the house, who had bounded to his paws and rushed Max as soon as the door opened. There was nothing unfriendly in the greeting, but the canine was very big and heavy. Juno giggled as she turned to watch the wolfdog throw himself onto Max's chest, and even 'Taya had to hide a smirk. "Max ....meet Beetle."

Now that was unexpected. Max staggered back against the door as the paws hit his chest. His hands went upwards in a "I give up!" motion. Eyes wide as he stared down at about 150 pounds of fur, claws, fangs and teeth. "Uh....hello Beetle?" He looked over at 'Taya and Juno in confusion.

"Don't look at me, she named him," his fiancee said through a wry grin. Over the course of the afternoon, she'd conceded that Juno apparently had some kind of bond with the wolfdog, and despite the posters they'd put up in various places around the WestEnd, 'Taya had a feeling Beetle was here to stay. Juno grinned, scrambling down from the couch to pull the wolfdog off Max. The canine thumped down onto his paws, nudging into the child playfully, making her stagger and laugh once again. She didn't even have to bend far to wrap her arms around his neck, hugging tightly. Hazel eyes turned to look up at Max with that killer sweetness. "He's my newest bestest friend."

"A dog?" he mouthed to 'Taya as Juno pulled the mutt off him. His eyes travelled back towards Juno as she was nearly bowled over and had to cling to the dog's neck. At least, that's how it looked to Max. "He's....big." And Max smiled for Juno. That look of hers was all that it took and now Beetle was part of the family. "Well, I guess we're going to need that fourth bedroom now, aren't we?" He recovered quickly and even reached his hand out, fingers balled into a fist, for the dog to scent.

As Beetle lifted his nuzzle to scent the new male curiously, letting his big tongue loll out and affectionately inform Max that he could stay, 'Taya shrugged, spreading her hands helplessly. "I'll tell you later," she mouthed back to Max, not particularly wanting to have that discussion in front of Juno. Raising her brow, she lifted her voice in answer to Max. "Fourth bedroom?"

Max gave Beetle a wary look, then wiped the dog slobber from his fist. "Well, big dog, needs his own room, right?" Yeah, Max was going to milk that for all it was worth. "Just don't say no, 'Taya. Wait until you see it. And it's a steal! The owner passed away and the estate is selling it dirt cheap!"

"Oh God, don't tell me you want to buy it with all the furniture as well," 'Taya groaned lightly, but she was already moving. For Max to be this excited, it had to be a very nice house, and that was worth looking at. "Juno, put your shoes on. You, dog - Beetle. If you're coming, you need to behave yourself."

"Well, maybe some of it, like the appliances." He shrugged and watched the people in the house get set into motion with just a few words from 'Taya. It was what made her a great director; the ability to get the most out of people with the least bit of effort. Max was already opening the door again and reaching for Juno's hand. "You'll love the room I picked out for you!"

With the girls in their shoes and jackets, and Beetle trailing along close to Juno, it wasn't long before they were all out in the gentle afternoon sunlight, passing between Harry and Sally on their way off the Zen Building plot.

"So, fully fitted, then?" 'Taya was asking as she nudged the dog out of her way with one knee, watching as Juno pattered along at Max's side. She didn't miss how watchful the dog had become once they were past the Foo dogs, but didn't think to mention it - it wouldn't do to upset Juno twice in one day.

Beetle made sure that he was between the road and the little family that he was watching over. Max didn't seem to notice the protectiveness, he was too busy trying to hurry them along to the new place. "It's fully fitted with everything. But if you don't like it, we can always get rid of some stuff and paint some walls, whatever you like." He smiled and gently squeezed Juno's hand. He was talking to 'Taya, but wanted the little one to feel included. "It's not that far, either and the theater's about two blocks. Isn't that perfect?"

Juno looked up at Max with a beaming smile. "Is this the new house you said you was going to get ages and ages ago?" she asked curiously, swinging their linked hands violently back and forth between them.

'Taya chuckled softly as she walked just a little behind, her hands buried in her pockets. "Sounds about as perfect as it's going to get," she agreed with Max. "Don't count your chickens before they hatch, though, hotshot. I haven't seen this place yet. Or the price."

"Yes, this is the new house and if 'Taya says so, we're going to finally get it." Max grinned his million dollar smile for his ladies and then blew a kiss in 'Taya's direction. "You'll love it, I'm sure you will. And thank you for looking before saying no outright."

"Oh, that's sneaky," his fiancee laughed at him as Juno's big eyes turned to look up at her hopefully. "You're makin' me the evil witch again, dude. We have to look into your desires to be dominated by an evil woman at some point." Juno giggled, not understanding the full comment, but getting that it was indignantly funny. She bounced on her toes, reaching out to bury her hand in the fur of Beetle's scruff affectionately. "I get my own room but not allowed in yours?" she asked in a faintly worried tone.

"Cackle, baby," Max chuckled and wiggled his brows. "Whenever you're ready to delve into that part of my brain, you're more than welcome." Another waggle of his thick brows before he looked down at Juno with a smile. "You get your own room and are allowed into our room, but you have to knock first. Okay?"

"Taya stuck her tongue out at him, rolling her eyes. That, right there, was the main reason Max was so eager to get into a house of their own; he was more sexually frustrated than a bull in a field of sheep. "At least tell me you've already spoken to the realtor, or this visit is going to be all relative anyway," she commented quietly. "If it's as good a steal as you say, it could be gone by the end of the day." "Can Beetle stay in my room?" Juno asked in her piping voice. Beside her, the wolfdog had obviously already learned that Beetle applied to him, his big muzzle swinging about to look up at Max with Juno.

"As big as he is, Beetle can stay anywhere he likes. Except our room." he gave 'Taya another smile. "It was an open house and the realtor was there. I told her that I was very interested, just had to get my fiance and daughter to approve before we make a deal."

"So she's still there?" 'Taya asked, touching her fingertips to the dog's rump. She'd been about to warn the creature that the pavement narrowed here and to come a little closer, but he was ahead of her, crowding Juno right up against Max's side until the little girl was walking between Max and 'Taya in single file, protected on one side by the wall, and the other by the dog.

At this rate, Max had to turn around to talk to 'Taya and Juno. He didn't pay attention to rough pavement, too involved in his excitement over the new place. "Yes, and that's why we have to get there as soon as possible. She might not wait for too long." He looked down at Beetle and considered him for a moment. "I feel like a sheep all of a sudden."

"He's been doing this all afternoon," 'Taya chuckled, glancing down at the dog herself before lifting her eyes to Max. "We put up posters, in case he's not a stray, but I kinda get the feeling he's decided we belong to him now." Between them, Juno giggled cheerfully, skipping along. "Matty says if no one wants him, then he's staying," she informed Max with bright confidence. "Isn't he beautiful?"

"I think he's definitely seeing us as his people." The smile didn't leave Max's face as he spoke. "Even if somebody else tried to claim him, I don't think he'd go easy." And when Juno piped up, he looked down with a nod and a bigger smile. "He is a very handsome canine. How did you come up with that name?"

"It's his name," was Juno's matter of fact reply, her brow creased as though this was patently obvious. She looked at Max as though he'd temporarily lost his mind. "Fancy not knowing what his name is!" "Yeah, Max, fancy not knowing that," 'Taya teased, her own eyes alight with mischief as she joined in with Juno, despite being just as bemused by the dog's apparent knowledge of Juno's moniker as he was.

"Well I'm just not as smart as my Juno," he chuckled and ruffled Beetle's fur between his ears before looking up at 'Taya. Was Juno able to speak to animals, now" Her "weirdness" never seemed to stop. "Oh, look, there's the house!" He turned and pointed to a large brick building with a bright red door and white trim.

Who knew what Juno's limits were when it came to her in-human abilities" She never talked about what it was she could do, and Max and 'Taya didn't like to ask her; the little girl was very sensitive about being different from her foster parents. She peered around Max's hip toward the house as he pointed, pulling her hand out of his to point excitedly for the dog. "Lookit, Beetle! That's our house! We're gonna live there!" Mataya rolled her eyes at Juno's announcement, spotting that if she took against this house, she was going to be the evil witch of the west in their apartment for weeks on end. Her gaze lifted to the house herself, though, taking in the handsome facade, the generous front garden. It was semi-detached, which meant only one set of neighbors to worry about noise-wise, and knowing Max and his memory for details, it would have the garden she'd insisted on. "Looks good from out here."

Max fed off of Juno's excitement, not that he wasn't already excited. It was difficult for him to keep his pace to leisurely so that Juno didn't get left behind in his rush to get to the house. "It does look good, doesn't it?" He was positively beaming, and just knew that Juno was right. They were going to live in this gorgeous house.

Leading the way to the door, he was greeted by the realtor who opened the door and began to lead the way on a tour. The realtor was a smart cookie, not saying much, just allowing the trio to take in each room in its simple and understated magnificence.

Juno loosed her hand from Max's almost as soon as they got in through the door, running with unerring accuracy up the stairs and into the bedroom at the back of the house, overlooking the garden, Beetle at her side. "Mine!" she yelled back to them, and proceeded then to run out to the back garden, to play with Beetle while she was waiting. To be honest, Mataya was hooked on the house as soon as she saw the kitchen. It was big, a good shape; even the decoration suited her usually sunny personality. But she kept that under wraps for the time being, thumping down into the empty basement to look around curiously. "This would be the fourth bedroom, would it?" she asked Max with a grin. "Kinda dark, don't you think?"

While Juno was an easy sell, Max was getting worried about Mataya. Throughout the tour, she hadn't said much and didn't give much of an indication on whether or not she was wanting to even hear the price. Once they got to the bottom floor and into the fourth bedroom, he had his hands in his pockets to keep them from fidgeting. "It's the perfect man-cave. Dark, dank and you can send me here when I've been a bad boy?"

She leaned in the doorway of the bathroom down here in the basement, arms crossed over her chest as she eyed Max thoughtfully. The realtor obviously had 'Taya pegged; she was hiding a smile as the actress held that thoughtful gaze a lot longer than was entirely necessary, enjoying making her fiance fidget awkwardly.

"Hmmm," 'Taya said finally, her gaze sliding from Max to the realtor. "So when can we get a surveyor in?"

Max was watching Mataya and he held his breath as she gained that thoughtful gaze. Inside of his pockets, his fingers crossed. He even leaned forward, waiting on something, anything to come out of Mataya's mouth. The realtor was forgotten in Max's want and need for Mataya to approve of the place. And when she finally did speak, his eyes widened and he stood stock still and silent. "I'll call the surveyor right now, if you'd like," the realtor said and turned to go back up into the kitchen. Max opened his mouth and gulped in a breath of air and it hit him. They were going to live in this house! He let out a whoop and rushed to 'Taya to hug her tightly, spinning her around.

"Thank youoooooh!" 'Taya's thanks to the realtor were completely derailed by the laughing yelp she let out when Max grabbed her, chuckling at the enthusiasm in his hug. "Hey, hey, hey, hotshot! It's definitely maybe right now, okay' Put me down, you big lump!" Laughing, she grinned up at him. "If - if - the house is structurally sound, then yes, we'll make an offer. But we're waiting on the surveyor, right?"

As requested, Max lowered Taya but only to her tiptoes. "It's structurally sound," he assured her as he continued to smile down at her. "We're going to be busy for the next few days. Have to break the house in, right proper." His hands pressed her to his groin, grinding his hips into hers. "It's going to be great."

Laughing, 'Taya was ever so slightly helpless in Max's arms as he ground against her. His excitement was infectious, even more so than Juno's was, and the actress didn't actually mind being the recipient. "Just imagine ....privacy. Being able to send her to her room and not just behind the privacy screen at the far end of the loft."

"Oh God," he groaned, lowering his head to kiss her. It was hungry, scandalous and entirely full of all of the sexual frustration that had built up in him since Juno had come into their lives. Taking steps towards the wall, he pinned 'Taya there. His hands were roaming as he continued to kiss her.

"Ewwwww!" 'Taya's lips broke from Max's in a loud burbling laugh as Juno's disgusted voice interrupted their close to erotic moment together. The little girl was standing halfway up the stairs into the basement, Beetle at her side, staring at Max as though he'd grown a second head.

Max's head dipped and he rested his head upon 'Taya's shoulder. The frustration was about to kill him! He loved Juno, but taking cold showers and spanking the monkey in the bathroom was getting to be too much for a man with his sexual needs. He groaned and then stepped back, releasing 'Taya from the pin against the wall.

"Hey, Juno." Lifting his head he looked into 'Taya's eyes. The gaze promised that later, they would definitely continue. He turned then and smiled brightly. "And just how are you liking the new house?"

"It's big," Juno informed him, thumping down the stairs with Beetle close at her side. "Do I really get a big room all to myself and the garding and everything?" Launching herself from the fourth step down, she flailed through the air and landed with a thump at the bottom of the stairs. Just as frustrated as Max, Mataya leaned her head back against the doorframe as she took a deep breath, letting it out slowly through her smile as her eyes turned to Juno. She didn't need to return the promise to Max; they both knew it was going to happen. Hopefully Mr Cheung wasn't going to catch them on the roof again, though.

"Well you're going to have to share the garden with Mataya," he chuckled and then blew out a breath. "But yes, you get your own, great big room." Max turned then and grabbed for Mataya to lay one last smooch on her before heading for the stairs. "Let's get this deal going!"

"Surveyor, Max!" Laughing, 'Taya fell into step behind her fiance, rolling her eyes at his rather too exuberant responses to Juno's interest in the house. The little girl was no help, swarming up into Max's arms to hug him tightly around the neck, but surprisingly, 'Taya found herself sharing a look of long-suffering affection with the dog. She scratched the creature's ears. "Looks like you and I are the sane ones in this family, Beetle."

"Technicalities!" Max called over his shoulder as he hugged Juno and spun her around before putting her back down. He knew better than to try to keep ahold of the whirlwind little girl now. "Let's go look at your room, show me where you want your bed and your toys and everything." He looked over his shoulder and grinned at 'Taya and the dog before taking Juno's hand and climbing.

It took less than half an hour for the surveyor to get there, and barely three hours after that, Mataya De Luca had her hands on his full report. Max had been right; the building was completely sound, and only needed a little maintenance here and there. She'd been beaten at her own game for once, and she found that genuinely hilarious, especially with both Max and Juno leaning over her shoulders, impatient for the verdict. Knowing when she was on to a good thing, the realtor already had the paperwork there for them to read and sign. Another couple of days, and that paperwork would have been verified by their solicitor, and Max's dream house would be theirs to move into.

Four bedrooms, though. Did Max really think she was going to turn one over to the dog"

((Huge thankies to Mr Maxie!))
