As you can imagine, the Shanachie Theater has a vast team of NPCs working behind the scenes to keep everything flowing along nicely. Most are unnamed and unidentified, but the few that have been established, or are necessary to at least know of, can be found here.

Charles Nbayu - General Manager of the Shanachie Theater

Charles is the manager of Mataya's Shanachie Theater. He's Rhy'Din-born, and has plenty of experience in management, from working the various clubs and small businesses in the West End area. He is very good at his job, and a real gentleman, to boot.

Katelyn Reynolds - Assistant General Manager

Having come to the Shanachie from the world of corporate business management, Katelyn is the perfect person to help run the administrative side of things in the theater. Ruthlessly efficient, it has taken time for her to learn that a theater's working hours are very different to a standard business, but now she has come to grips with it, she is a force of nature. Any problems of a business nature naturally go to her, before they reach the ears of Charles, Alex, Mataya, or Tony.

Alex Vanburen - General Manager of the Shanachie Ballet Company

A native New Yorker, Alex is responsible for directing the administrative and financial activities of the troupe, as well as hiring and managing the administrative staff. He reports to the Ballet Director and aims to ensure the organization's stability and longevity. Alex brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from a long-time career in the entertainment business.

Ludo Von Eschenbach - Director of the Theater Company

The in-house director of the Shanachie Theater and Repertory Companies, Ludo is a luvvie through and through. Very approachable, nonetheless he can be stern if you do not perform to the very best of your ability. That said, however, he is very susceptible to the waterworks, and will bend over backwards to accommodate any of his actors if he needs to.

((Note - Jonathan Granger is the Director of the Repertory Company, but is definitely not an NPC!))

Gabriel Tollen - Musical Director

Gabriel is the Shanachie Theater's musical director, which puts him in direct charge of the in-house band, tasked with providing musical accompaniment for both the Theater Company and the Ballet Company. He runs a tight ship, won't stand for any kind of back-talk (even when it's justified), and has a sense of humor only a snake would find funny. He has been known to terrify inexperienced performers into psychosomatic respiratory disorders.

Joliss Orei'tarel - Choreographer for the Theater Company

A half-elven choreographer, Joliss works her chorus hard, her principles harder, but ultimately will always be the shoulder the tired performers cry on, and the first person they go to when they have troubles. With several centuries experience behind her, you'd have to go a long way to find anyone who will understand your private problems better than Joliss.

Irina Sokolova - Ballet Mistress - Shanachie Ballet Company
((NPC - Photo of Helen Mirren))

An acclaimed veteran of the Russian Ballet and a former ballerina in her own right, Irina has joined the Shanachie Classical Ballet Company in the esteemed position of Ballet Mistress. Possessing years of valuable knowledge and experience, she promises to be an enormous asset to the burgeoning company. Though kindly and maternal, she is a stern, no-nonsense professional who expects nothing less than excellence from her dancers and usually receives it. There is no one better qualified for the position than Irina, and the Company is very fortunate to have her.

((Please note, Irina is on the cusp of becoming a PC in her own right.))

Janine Peters - Rehearsal Director - Shanachie Ballet Company
((NPC - Photo of Rachel Rawlins))

Janine joins the ballet troupe as its Rehearsal Director. As such, she is responsible for scheduling and supervising rehearsals to ensure the dancers know and interpret the choreography, under the choreogapher's direction. Janine comes to the Shanachie from the Pittsburgh Ballet, where she recently retired as a principal dancer.

Sylvie Moreau - Ballet Mistress for De Luca Dance Studio

An elderly, but nonetheless sprightly, woman from Paris, Earth, Sylvie took on the mantle of guiding the young dancers at De Luca Dance Studio with enthusiasm. Despite a sometimes overly acerbic tongue, she is surprisingly gentle and patient with anyone she works with. Rarely seen without her cane, she uses it to thump out the underlying beat beneath the music, and occasionally adjust a dancer's position.

Elouise Matsuo - Cafe Manager

Almost as bright and bubbly as Mataya, Elouise is the driving force behind the cafe attached to the Shanachie. Responsible for the daily changing specials and working with the team of cooks and waiting staff, she always delivers to the very best of her ability, even if she has to drag herself from her sick bed to do it.

Winter Blues - Bar Manager

He hates his name. Call him Blue, or he will completely ignore you until you do. Aside from that, however, Blue has a very calming way about him, perfect for dealing with the stresses of running not one, but two bars during the theater's opening hours. Despite the high turnover of staff, he is patient with those still learning, and good at giving opportunities for training and advancement to those who have stuck with it. If a fight is about to kick off in either of the Shanachie's bars, however, he will be there before security is, and nine times out of ten, the fight never comes to blows.

Hortense Docquey, the theater ghost

Often referred to as "The Grey Lady", Hortense haunts the Shanachie because it is the remodeled house her second husband built for her when she was living. Murdered in 1892 by the spirit that had possessed her step-daughter, she has not found rest, and only came into the knowledge of the theater owner during an encounter with the same demonic spirit that had destroyed her own life.

She tends to keep to herself, though the performers consider it good luck to see her on opening night, often in the Royal Circle or backstage. Those who rehearse alone on the stage report being aware of being watched, and occasionally of holding conversations with the Grey Lady. Apparently she has good advice for nervous performers, and does not hesitate to criticize where it is necessary.

Audience members do not often report having seen her, though she is more likely to be seen by those visitors to the theater during the more child-friendly production runs. Hortense clearly likes children, and would be mortified to know she had frightened anyone.
